    You made very good finds my friend. I really liked the first one, the one you called benton, the perforated rock and the rock with several holes that could be used to start a fire. I was glad to accompany you friend. BLESSINGS ALWAYS.

      Thank you. I’m excited with it finished or not I guess just more curious about why it was so close to being finished.

    Awesome hunts! It looks like the mud on the banks is improving a little. Congrats on the Gorget, even though it isn't finished, those are hard to come by. That "nutter" is a real nice one. I agree, I think they are fire starting tools, which unintentionally make good nut cracking stones. Each hole would have taken a good amount of work to make and if they were made to be nutting stones, they wouldn't have put pits on both sides of the stone because you can only use one side to crack nuts at a time. Good luck on your next hunt!

      Thanks I’m definitely glad to have been lucky enough to have found those pieces in the condition that the river was in.

    Glad to see you back out again... you and the IRS hunting together, that's a deadly combination. I wouldn't even call that pendant a heartbreaker since it wasn't broken, just unfinished...still cool as hell. Hopefully the river gets right and you can get back on them soon.

      It’s definitely going to be good this weekend been jealous seeing all the boat traffic while I’m having to work. That pendent is just crazy because it was so close to being finished. I’m still happy with it though.

      @@RiverRatArtifacts Yeah, I'm with you man, I had to work all weekend too, and it looks like the river is forecast to shoot back up next week. The Memorial Day crowd will hunt the heck out of it today. But at least I have a couple hundred acres of fields disced to hunt next week.

      This has been the best weekend so far. I was hoping the water would stay down for a few days so I could hunt the water lines in a few areas but it seems like it would be a least next week or so.

    Awesome finds bud, nice variety of materials, I found a preform hematite pendant in a creek near my house a few years ago, a very polished oval shaped piece of hematite, they started to drill through but didn’t complete it for whatever reason, it also has little pin holes around the outside like it was some sort of design, not complete but one of the coolest artifacts I’ve ever found, congrats on all the finds, God Bless & GL&HH!!!👊🏹

    • @RiverRatArtifacts
      @RiverRatArtifacts  Před měsícem +1

      Thanks we find a wide variety of different types of stuff in our area. Haven’t found any hematite . But that’s the joy in it all you just never know what will be laying out there next.

      @@RiverRatArtifacts absolutely, I found a broke hematite point a few months ago, it’s very water worn and you can’t really see any detail in it, it took me a minute to figure out it was hematite, I’ve never seen a point made out of hematite before, this particular creek was a village site I believe, found 3 drilled pieces in that section of creek too, two complete pieces, what I thought was a pottery pendant but people have since told me is a spindle whorl, one drilled piece that I’ve never positively identified, possibly a boat stone and what I believe is a broken tubular bannerstone, found that within yards of where I found that hematite blade, it’s very hard to find artifacts in creeks around here, hardly any debutauge or anything but this particular creek is absolutely loaded with artifacts so I’m pretty certain it was a village site, biggest pottery sherds I’ve ever came across as well, I wait every few months to see if anything has washed up, it would be nice if all the creeks around here were holding artifacts like that, anyway bud, thanks for sharing, Happy Memorial Day!!!

      We are lucky enough to have some great areas we have places that are just littered with flint and chert it you could spend hours on. Hopefully you will have a good memorial weekend and happy hunting!

      @RiverRatArtifacts  Před měsícem +1

      Yeah and the material is that grainy chert not sure what it’s called but I’ve rarely seen anything that was well made out of it.

    The side of what you called the nut stone looked like an image. If you kinda blurr your eyes and use your imagination you see those 2 indents (eyes) overlapping, with ears just outside the eyes all in line and then the mouth centered below the eyes. . A monkey? Lol

      Yes! So clear. And all within the lighter colored section. That was planned.

    On the pendent,they were grinding it down to thin it for drilling faster. They never finished it or gave up?

      I work mechanical electrical maintenance and also Farm. So I spend a lot of time working on stuff. And I tend to get off work and go to the river quite often. 🤣
