  • The Cincinnati, Ohio area offered a wide variety of railroad action in May of 1995. CSX predecessor paint schemes were still prevalent including Chessie System, Family Lines System, Seaboard Coast Line, and early CSX stealth paint. Older locomotives like U18Bs and SD20s were still earning their keep along with newer wide nose 8-40CWs. Foreign power also made an appearance through town including Delaware & Hudson, Union Pacific, Central Vermont and leasers like National Railway Equipment. Wide nose locomotives had not yet been delivered to Norfolk Southern, so high noses & spartan cabs were the norm across the system.
In this video we travel around the Cincinnati region to locations in Ohio including Winton Place, Norwood, Springdale, CSX's Queensgate Yard, & Norfolk Southern's Gest Street Yard. We also travel south of the Ohio River to Ludlow & Erlanger, KY along Norfolk Southern's CNO&TP to Chattanooga, TN.
