This is without question the most impactful tutorial I’ve ever seen to improve my golf game. I watched this a couple of times, went to the driving range once, and in the last four outings, have shot six strokes below my handicap each time. This is great stuff. Well done, Chris!
This is probably one of the best explanations and demonstrations I’ve seen to get into proper slot position! Thanks!
I am guilty of standing up at impact. I am pretty good player but on bad days my misses are all over the place. This was the simplest, best explained video on this subject that I have ever seen. Excellent video!
Absolutely the "Cat's Meow," PERFECT diagnosis you won't hear anywhere else in the World!! What a Dude. Gives away ingenious secrets without even knowing it. In this video he used two words that should turn your lifetime of golfing around with these two words. It's totally amazing. Chris...you are #1 in my WaynesWorld.
Once again this is one of those top class instructions explaining how stuff is actually done.
Yes! Lead arm sliding down the chest is a perfect analogy!!!
Excellent description and easy for any level golfer to relate to. Really well worth anyone taking time at the range to reinforce these positions and feelings. Great job Chris.
Well done Chris, another great lesson thank you.
Some of your more recent content has helped me fix my out-to-in swing path and strike the ball better. Quarantine has been good for my game. Thank you!
Fabulous! There's so much that can go wrong between top of backswing and strike position (otherwise we'd all be playing off single figures 😊), so an easy reference point at halfway stage to make sure the club is properly cocked and loaded before finally pulling the trigger, is really helpful. Wish I'd been shown this 30 years ago. Cheers Chris.
Thank you Chris. This video was extremely helpful. I’m now aware that my lead arm was straying away from my body coming into impact. I told myself to “stay connected” more with my left (lead) arm on the way down. This immediately helped my contact and prevented me from swinging the club face across the ball leading to a slice. Very helpful, very succinct. I was able to put it to use immediately. Awesome!
That was truly the most helpful video. Thanks Chris!!
Fantastic explanation ...thanks for sharing this with the world .
Superb stuff Chris. Thank you
I have taken various lessons. I have never seen it explained in those terms and it is very helpful. Especially the side tilt. Thank u.
Top tip Chris.
No nonsense.
Gonna give that a go tomorrow.
Thank you.
Worked on this at driving range. Really excited about better contact and ball striking. Thank you so much. Sheila
Love your drills Chris, amazing, thanks!
Great lesson Chris, simple easy to follow thanks.
Amazing stuff Chris. Thank you
So many things you forget then bad habits creep in. A great reminder. Thanks Chris.
Yep, totally perfect advice. Could have used these tips on my round today. Thanks sir!!
Very helpful. Thank you!
Great video. Good instructions that are able to understand and actually implement.
What a fantastic explanation that makes so much sense. Time to hit the range and practice those drills. Thank you!
Great Videos you produce, Always straight to the point clearly spoken and easy to follow , Thanks Daz from downunder
Very helpful Chris. Simple drill will see how close I can get. First time I have understood “how” to drop the hands. Always knew this has to happen but it’s only now that I understand. Thanks 🙏
I missed this part for years, many and many thanks.
Hi Chris. I watch lots of your videos but this one slipped through the net. Lots of people talk about the slot and we all know we should ideally be in it for good contact but this is the only video I have seen that explains how to get there. Nice one 👍
BRILLIANT DELIVERY OF INSTRUCTION! NICE WORK!
excellent teaching Chris !!! I need more side tilt .
That’s so well explained, thank you
Hi Chris, excellent exercise. I am doing this since a few months and it helped me to hit the ball more compressed and shift the weight better to my lead leg. If you do that excerse directly as a test swing before you hit the ball, it really helps you do do make proper shots. Great viedo
4th video trying to find someone explain this as well as I needed. Fantastic job Thankyou
Very clear explanation of finding the slot during downswing. Well done.
BEST VIDEO, THANK YOU MILLION TIMES, CORRECTED MY SWING!!!!
Some months ago I saw a video of someone (don't remember who) talking about the side bend as a required part of the down swing. That was a critical piece that was missing in my swing. After some experimentation, I found triggering the downswing with a right side crunch works for me. Thinking "side bend" was not as good - it was "crunch" that worked best for me (where the right lat and hip feel like they are contracting together, just like if you are doing an oblique crunch). It really improved my sequence (hips, then torso, then arms). As soon as I started doing that, my consistent fades became draws. My current problem is that I now sometimes over draw the ball, but after fading for so long, I was very happy to enter that territory.
Most likely george gankas
Great stuff! That last one is my issue. Thank you!
Hi Chris, thank you for all your content. This particular video has changed my life 😀👍⛳️
Thanks Simon
Straight to the Favourites!
Great content, thanks!
Excellent, left arm sliding down the chest, that was the bit I was missing. Thank you.
key ingredients. great stuff mate, cheers
Really informative Chris my daughter been struggling with this
Very insightful for getting into the slot
Hi Chris , I just feel I keep my back to the target on downswing , this works for me ,regards
Watched the video again and again. A real classic and must see for those who care to understand finding the slot which is really the purpose of the transition, that is seldom looked at in this light. Perhaps the most important move in golf not to be underestimated.., Thank you again Chris. Other instructors never seem to talk about the transition in this light and what it is all about.
Thanks Harold appreciate that 👍
@@ChrisRyanGolf i'm here from swingtweaks. my pro recommended it to me. how i hit the ball without knowing this concept, is a wonder to me. tysm chris. you are the best.
question: czcams.com/video/S5M6OdQlHqM/video.html&ab_channel=MiloLinesGolf is this the proper way to bend or do you have your own opinion?
Excellent video. Wasn't aware of the side bend.
Good one there, thank you
Love the video and are the right things to do. Yet doing this in 1 second or sooner makes this nearly impossible.
Dropping the right shoulder at the start of the swing is key. Most people (including myself) often just turn and cut across it.
One of the best DS explanations ive ever heard. Side bend and arms moving down often not explained this well
Thanks Joe
Love your channel Chris. I have an issue when I speed it all up I still end up cutting across. Whats the best thing to do?
Hi Chris that was brilliantly explained sideband is what I need thank you so much that was awesome 👏
Thanks Dave
Great explanation, looking forward to trying this tomorrow to find which piece of the puzzle I’m missing 👍
helpful , thanks
really good! The first time, that someone clearly explains the elements to achieve this... The challenge is the sequence of these elements in the complete movement...But brain first. Thats the most important part. If you do not understand what to do, you will never get there. Thank you Chris
THANK YOU!
Really good explanations! Clear. Well done!! 👌 Now...let's head to the driving range 😄
I once found the slot with driver for 3 shots and then lost it. But it was the best feeling in the world. Club head felt like it was on rails, ball flight dead straight, crazy distance with no effort.
I find by doing just a half swing (arms parallel to the floor), and then creating the feeling that the grip end of the club is facing the ball (it feels like the head of the club is lagging way behind), I find the slot every single time. Difficult to explain :(
Thank you Chris. Where have you been the last 30 years. I see the pros practicing that position all the time and I wondered what they were trying to feel/achieve. I am going out right now to see how I go. Thank you!
Thanks Michael hope it helps
Simple & realistic drill.., your belt very nice custom..
Chris be unreal with the robot on the dance floor
One thought that works for me is to allow the right arm to slowly straighten out as my torso rotates through the shot. If you were hitting a baseball, you would be swinging level through. Since the golf ball is on the ground, there has to be a lowering of the club to get it down there. I find gradually straightening the right arm does the trick. Keep in mind, the arm does not completely straighten until at and through impact, creating a divot in front of the ball. Cheers!
Always a great lesson from you Chris. What happens if you’re not flexible enough to make that turn what do you do do you take it as best you can just curious
This in conjuction with a lag angle at impact (forward shaft lean + square face) = lowering hcap super fast.
Great video Chris, Tried on driving range this morning - not all shots were perfect- but good ones went straighter. Does this technique apply to woods but in particular the driver
I have been struggling with a slight outside in and what I believe I have been missing is the sliding the arms down the chest that is the third part you describe. Going to the range tomorrow to see if that is the missing piece. Thanks!
Great
Absolutely brilliant! I’m feeling this with my irons, but I’m really struggling to do this hitting a driver, I absolutely can not shape a draw with a driver, I can with P-4i and even my 3 wood some. My driver is so swipey
If its striaght, dont complain, if it's not hooking be thankful, if its slicing or super fading,.... try adding weight to the head, or look to get a softer tip, so it can kick through.
Go see a fitter and dail it in. Before you groove something with it, and then your other woods fail you.
Great tip. Helped alot with my pull. But I'm hitting fat. Too much shoulder tilt perhaps?
You make it look so easy 😥😥😥
Hey Chris - I’ve seen other instructors talk about moving your wrists counterclockwise at the top to help get in the slot. Do you recommend that or should I avoid the wrist action?
At last…..After four years of pain, this could be life changing for me! I’m actually hitting it in the air…(for now?). How can it be that none of the pros I have been to have spotted this simple error in my swing?
gotta go back and look for some FW woods vids....long game was disastrous today..🙄
Chris, is this "move" similar to what Justin Rose does on his practice swing?
When are you back on the course
Hello Chris, with this drill it seems the club is too steep on the way down , how to shallow the club and set the club into the slot? Thanks
shoulder and chin separation during downswing ,,
Hi Chris,, I feel that I am to slot the club best when the club is supported with fingers of my right hand as its thumb pad has barely touches my left hand. Will this practice lead to other issues?
How can you find a good check point at the top of your swing?
How do you time the turn?
It’s all about sequence, start from the ground up, most higher handicappers seem to want to work from the arms down I see, a guy I play with in my men’s league I always tell him he has a great swing it’s just backwards, got him to work on it and now he pounds it solid.... sometimes
Can you explain a little more on this? Start from ground up rather than arms down....not sure what you mean by this
So do you believe that deliberate shallowing is not necessary?
The time you have from top of back swing to hitting the ball if try to look for these perfect positions you will have a very hard time
awesome video Chris! i think this would really help me in my pursuit of the perfect golf swing! quick question, when you get into the ‘slot’, do i push the club with the right hand or do i keep pulling with the left? thanks so much!
isn't the trail arm getting longer responsible for the "slot" as well?
I note that when you talk about "the slot in the downswing" you have done another video on the very same topic except you call it the "perfect delivery position". This switch in terminology can be confusing to a neophyte like me.
I hate this game. Had best round last weekend ..... went to range during week following. Now I feel I’m ina slump
knowing my luck it will be all three
Hi, nice upload. gud one~!. i'm still new in this, need support.
Tried this out at the range for two days and now I can’t hit a golf ball. This video fucked my swing
Ah yeah just drop arms and then turn got it
Sorry mate but your hips are too square to the ball at the delivery position. You are probably more of an arms hitter I suppose.
Too square?? Interesting observation
