I love my Feelground chelsea boots in winter. They have a slighly thicker sole and the optics are okay for the office. In summer im all in Leguanos.

Nice review! About two years ago I found a pair of zero drop, wide toe box shoes with a camo mesh upper. I love them! If I try and wear my New Balance shoes now, my posture is tilted forward and walking is now very awkward! So the zero drop shoes put my posture back the way it is supposed to be! I can walk standing straighter than before. Now I need to find a pair that just as supportive and look a bit more “normal” for the times I need to dress up beyond “camp site chic.”

Minimalist shoes aren't necessarily barefoot shoes. Anya's Reviews lists some with cushion other than just Altras! (If I remember right, that's the OG where a guy shaved his shoes then made his own "zero drop" shoe company.)

I got some barefoot shoes from the Austrian company Sneakly. They are the most simple model, basically a kind of sock with an outdoor sole (but at a casual glance look more like an ordinary sneaker). I did not expect it but I feel great wearing them and walking about (maximum so far about 7.5 km). The sole has excellent grip.

Just found your channel a couple of days ago. Have started doing exercises to strengthen my leg muscles. I rehurt my leg in January 2024. Your exercises are already helping me and giving me a lot more hope. My issue is I moved into a rental property and driveway is paved but uneven and steep. I am afraid to try to walk up it until I get stronger. Your videos are amazing and.you explain everything so well in detail. Love your videos. Thank you so much. Blessings.

I have two pair of Xero shoes Prios. Love them. They look like normal sneakers, and they are super cute. I have a couple pair of their leather dress shoes, that are also super cute.

I wish you’d show us a comparison of the soles from the bottom! Like a tracing of the exact shape.Someone once told me (1980’s) that Clark’s were super comfortable for him but when I walked into The Pedestrian Shop and took a good look, I could tell that they wouldn’t fit my feet right. They almost had a “club foot” shape. When the sole curves inward at the ball of the foot, it still will crowd the pinkie toe and it’s neighbor toe.
You could make footprints of your walking stride (barefoot) and compare those to footprints of the same wearing the different shoes. It might seem a bit complicated but that’s the beginning of unraveling the painful shoe mystery.
There’s a CZcams channel that has stop-action animation films of leather shoemaking. The chap sometimes gives workshops on stitching up a custom fit shoe. Unless someone is making a pair of shoes FOR YOU, it will be luck that matches your feet to the best fit on a mass produced shoe line.
Start by tracing your feet. And pay attention to how much control the shoes you’re wearing have over your movements.

I have several pairs of Purestep shoes (I think that they are a German company). They are very cheap, but size seems to vary from style to style. I'm not sure that they are going to last very long, but still good value.
I'm contemplating getting some Xeros. Flexibility of the sole seems to be a big thing with Xero.

  • @samfordman
    @samfordman Před 2 měsíci +4

I have lots of Xeros(currently 3 Prios, 2 Terraflex, 2 Z Trail sandals, 1 Mesa Trail II), plus an early pair of Whitin's minimalist trail runners.
The Xeros are low quality and overpriced. Only warranty replacements and 70% off on their yearly clearance for me any more, but they're the most comfortable shoes and sandals I've ever worn. The uppers on the shoes aren't bonded to the soles well in many cases. They're easily replaced under warranty, and actually last quite a while after I glue them back together myself, though, so I keep wearing them.
The cheaper Whitins are put together much better; just wish the materials were also better, and the version of my trail runners without velcro had been available back when I got them.
Will likely try Vivos and Astral Designs Loyaks if I can ever get away from the Xeros...

Yeah the xero’s are garbage. Mine started to fall apart after 4 months. I was super disappointed especially spending $100. I have wildling Japanese paper shoes and live them, the only problem I have is the sole isn’t the best when it comes to wear. 6 months in and I almost have a hole in the toe area. Other than that they still look amazing and are super comfy. I want to get another pair of wildling but I’m currently looking for a second pair of shoes so I can swap out every week so I can prolong the lifespan and have a little variety

I've worn several pairs of the Feelground mesh sneakers and they actually felt amazing. I didn't have the issues you mentioned. On pavement, they were perfect and I had no issues. The only issue I had was when I did light duty dirt trail hiking, especially on hills. They'd slip enough that I was not enjoying the walk. I ultimately retired the shoes for this reason.
I have replaced those with the Xero Dillons and have no complaints. Unlike the Feelgrounds, they definitely can handle light duty dirt trail hikes.

I have the softstar with the vibrant sole, but I need to wear with an insole because of the same issue. My feet hurt.
However my ankles and yes love them so that's what I do. I tried the moccasins but they are really slippery on linoleum especially if it is wet.

I used to love the Xero Impari Hana. That is until they shrinkflationed them. Xero shoes don't fit me anymore because they now make them narrower and shorter. People keep saying that their feet spread so the Xeros don't fit anymore but they made the shoes smaller. I like Lems boots and I have some Softstar Rouges that I wear around the house. Softstars are re soleable so are a better value. I finally decided to try some cheap Whitins and they are insanely comfortable.

All I wear are Freets. I have EE wide feet and they're the only brand of barefoot shoe that fits me comfortably in the toes. Fortunately, they have several great styles. Just stay away from the Richmond. They have a horrible seam in the heel that causes awful blisters. The rest are super comfy and stylish. I wear Injini toe socks. They're super well made and last. Just don't buy the wool ones. They fray away quickly. The mid weight version is super warm and durable. And their light weight running socks are comfy in the summer.
I also wear Luna Middle Bear Winged sandals with the thicker grippy soles for trail walking in the summer. They're really comfortable and stable.

Soooo question, I have always had a bit of an interesting gait, toe to heel gait when walking around the house, i can walk normally but idk for some reason I tend to walk like that for fun. Just very light steps. And yes i also have autism and am a woman. Wearing sneakers never really felt that comfortable, but boots, especially the 'chelsea boots with heel', I've been LOVING them so much. We always hear about how kids with autism are tip toers, or have a toe to heel gait, but it never occurred to me that i was subconsciously seeking out the same experience with heel. Btw only boots with heels, no way I'm risking anything with thin heels or stilettos. Idk why i felt compelled to share this😅😅 is there anything already knows about this?

Softstars fit oddly on my feet though they last for miles, Lems Drifters are overly wide for me but they have a better shape for my feet than the Softstars (and they are super cushioned), Xeros are the best shape for me: HFS and Mesa Trail are my go tos, but the quality is questionable (not to mention their color choices).
Vegan leathers (for the most part) are made from a plastic related fabric. Much like polyester and nylon, they trap air or moisture at your skin leading to bacterial and fungal overgrowth. Removing your feet from these allows the feet to dry … but not the fabric, foams, and linings of the shoes. And since they stay moist, the bacteria always have a ready food supply.
I skate and develop similar pain near the tip of my metatarsal bones between the 4th and 5th toes, after a couple hours in my skates. I suspect it is due to a too narrow toe box that doesn’t allow my feet to spread comfortably. Getting gel insoles extended my comfortable skate time. But when it is your shoes, I think you’ve made the right call to test them out over a short period of time in an attempt to find a fix. Good luck.

I have the Feelgrounds Mesh and have no issues. maybe it's that pair you have. Try ordering the same pair. you could have a Lemmon. I wear them with casual clothing with no sox. They feel great. They are not for beginners though in my opinion. you really feel the ground with these. I stop wearing sox for several months now. I use the LUME deodorant cream on my feet and they never smell even on a warm day.

I agree with your point on feelgrounds. They are less comfortable when walking for more than a mile. I wish more barefoot shoes were wider and have more volume in them. The feelgrounds courtside do squeeze my mid foot quite a bit. They need to price it down to $89 in my opinion.

my wide foot is fine with the pinky stitching. but not sure if I will size up or down (half size) for the Move sports shoe. need it snug for indoor futbol, but sizing up has been perfect for the mesh.

Feelgrounds recently changed the sole of that mesh model and some others. It would be good to know if the one’s you are reviewing are the old sole or the newer sole. Thanks! Incidentally, I have a different pair of Feelgrounds, the luxe, and I walked with them through the streets of Madrid at the weekend and my feet were killing me by the end of the day. This is with an insole insert.

Why do barefoot shoes still round up toes at the end? According to foot anatomy foot is the widest at the end. The only brand that does this well is Fivefingers for now.

    • @tadghcr2175
      @tadghcr2175 Před 2 měsíci

I think it's so there's not too much material extending really far past your toes so the shoes don't flop or catch on anything and trip you. Have you heard of Realfoot? They seem to be a similar but wider shape to my really old Vivobarefoot trail shoes where it's narrow toward the arch and ankle but really wide everywhere else.

Hey upright health!, my name is Lance and I suffer from really bad hip pain, I’m only 15 years old and have had recurring injuries for about a year now which could have made me more weak for injuries hence all the rest, I have been doing your exercises and moving my hips and strengthening them but I’ve seen little relief, I get lots of pain walking at school and I’m getting an mri soon but I know they are probably going to offer surgery, what should I do that I am not already doing? I am not saying that my bad hips stop me from playing baseball right now the only thing stopping me from playing is that I have a fractured back but I will return back to moving soon but my hips have been bugging me a lot.

I agree with your Feel Grounds review. I own a mesh pair 6+ months, wearing zero drop 5+ years, own several Xero and Lems. I have no width or seam issue. I work in a carpeted office on my feet moving all day. The Feel Grounds are amazing, most confortable and cool. As soon as I leave the office, to sidewalk, parking lot, mall, grocery store, I get foot pain, sore soles 😮🦶. I have to be very mindful about how I land my feet and slow down. I want to love these shoes, they look nice for office blk/blk matches work wear. I think the sole material is less dense, more spongy or softer than my Xeros of the same thickness. Feel Grounds did discount this pair because updated sole is coming, I do see them wearing down faster than other pairs. I did not get insole offer from FG and their shipping is very expensive $20+ one pair. I carry Xero or Lems to change into after work. Thank you for the insole info, great review, great video!

I got my feelgrounds like 2 weeks ago. I have the similar problem with the bottomside, I think its too hard not bouncy/squishy and it doesnt bend enough. My Saguaro`s feels much better it almost massages your feet . I have the Courtside model and the fake leather is feels really bad, it makes noise like plastic.
