Don't you guys hate when Americans find out you're Haitian and they tell you "Speak Haitian."

Thank you so much. I stay with a friend from haiti. All this time I thought she was upset with me. She hardly looks me in the eye. If she does it seem like it's to much for her to do. Her father gets so close to me we bump into each other. I had no clue what all this ment. And she folds her arms to. I took as anger. Now that I know all this now I'm more comfortable. Thanks again

It's not creole it's Haitian Kreyol and also there's a difference between French and kreyol. It is a mixture of Spanish, french, and just our language. Creole people or usually from Louisiana and are mixed with numerous ethnicities but they are not Haitian. Also there's different creole languages because creole is a variation of a language or a new language made of other languages.

    Mèsi - Thank you
    Non mwen se… - my name is…
As Richardo Marco have already mentioned you don’t need to write it like this sé because in speaking creole it is already understood that you are not putting your lips together like a duck (what Haitians label “pwenti bouch”) when speaking creole unlike French.
For others learning Creole, don't underestimate her lessons because of suggestions/corrections that you might see from me or other viewers on the comment section. Haitiancreolessons presenter is doing an excellent job in teaching you all Creole.
Scholars have been going back and forth as to how certain words should be written in Creole. It is only recently that someone has come up with a Haitian Creole dictionary and those scholars have agreed on how certain words or syntax should be written in Creole. So, what others have learned to write as "sé" is now simply "se". they have completely drop the accent from the e.

Where those native haïtian people who can speak and understand their language !
Alot of haïtian parents never show their children ,how to speak creole .
When i came To canada at 6 , because i could not speak french& i was bad in school ,my mom started To talk only in french with me,so i was not talking creole at home.
I am kind lucky in my bad luck because i have always been surrounded by people who spoke creole.I go regulary in haiti .
I had alot of disputes with my mom because I hated the fact at my age (22 ) she doesnt want To talk with me in my native languages !She always telling me that at my age i should be abble to find the way to talk it. Also she add that because i did my childhod in haiti, its will be more easier for me to talk it.If i go 3 month i Will talk it easily.
What some parents doesnt know is when you dont speak your native languages with your children, you are the only one who is losing your identity!
I can talk creole of course and i understand 100%, but its kind of shame, when you hear that a white person talks better than you.Like you cant be born somewhere and you doenst know that well your languages.
Also the crazy thing is i am really good naturally at waiting créole 😂 fuck top
For everyone arround the world, share your languages with your children! You Will be a winner

I have a question for people Who speak Haitian Creole. Google translate said that the word 'naked' is translated to Fè. Since I'm getting a Sphynmx kitten Ithought it would be nice to give her a name in a foreign language which means something like naked. I'm wondering how you pronounce the word Fè. Is it something like the word Fae?
Who can help me with this matter? Thnx!

    • @RoodyBarthelemy
      @RoodyBarthelemy Před 8 lety +2

+Ilone Duin-Berteling You must have misread or you might want to check Google again for an updated version.
The word naked is rendered by "toutouni"or "touni"in Haitian Creole. In addition, the Creole word "Fè" is rendered by (1) to do, as a verb, or (2) "iron" as a noun. But nothing can prevent you from naming your kitten "Fè" as you feel like it, and indeed, the pronunciation of "Fè" sounds like the /Fae/ or even closer: /feh/. Good luck!
PS. Now, if you think what I said is helpful in anyway, why don't you just name your kitten after me?

You re talking about the very old version or creole when they used to use those accents, but you should investigate all the changes that have been made in our language... I m from Haiti.. I have been writing and speaking creole all my life.. And i know how to write it well... Nenpot moun ki konn kreyol ap di w ke an kreyol nou genyen aksan fos ( sa yo rele aksan grav an franse a ) men nou pa gen aksan egi ... Mon ami se sak fe yo toujou ap bat tapaj sou moun kap fe siret wi ! Je ne te parle pas d'un creole francise, sinon du vrai creole. La lettre e n'exite pas en creole !! c'est a dire que des que l on voit e.. on sait deja que sa se prononce é... car l accent aigu ne s ecrit pas, ca n existe pas !!!
