I hate VD because it is sooo commercial! Jewelry ($300), Flowers ($50), chocolate ($30), balloons ($20), a stuffed animal ($20), a card ($5), dinner ($120)...The only one that really has a good day is the store owners!! $500+ !??! No way!!!

I completely agree with this (and am glad someone posted about it!) I am thinking about it this way--I was able to spend time with my family and didn't have to cancel any plans when my grandmother passed this year.
I'm single, but honestly that doesn't bother me. I've been enjoying it for awhile now. It's pretty great. :P
What _does_ bother me about Valentine's Day though, are the people who are in a relationship, and aren't happy. Especially when it's friends of mine in that situation.

You are a beautiful young woman and if I were your age, I would totally ask you out! Valentine's day is just a way for big companies to make lots of money selling cards, roses, and chocolate. I agree with you there shouldn't have to be one day to show you loves someone. You can show love every day. I do agree with some of the comments though, pretty girls get sad they are alone, but yet when a not so perfect guy shows interest, they often dismiss him. I'm not saying you do that, but there are many girls that don't give us regular guys a chance. There are a lot of sweet and faithful guys out there but we don't have the "dream guy" looks, clothes, or hair. Looks fade over time, but a person who can give you love with all their heart will last forever.
