I'm glad you provide a sheet music with the accents rather than a series of monoton strokes. Very useful for a beginner. Thank you.
Thank you, I wish you good luck!!
Love your videos Michael, as a British musician living in Britain it's rare to find many cultured players about the place who play and are passionately into playing Latin style music, maybe i'm just looking in the wrong place but i do really enjoy learning the style and hope to put all this into practice with a couple of players at some point, still getting my head around your whole way of playing and living music.. i can only wish that my country as a collective had such a rhythmic persona.
Really love this tutorial on bongos....simple, clear and easy to follow. Makes me want to practise more...
Thanks you as always, you are a man of your word to present this Bongo video. Wigbert Martina gave a clear explanation of how the Martillo is played on Bongo and I love the close up of the hands which is also very helpful. Can't wait for Repique Bongo patterns.
Excellent video with a good clear break down of the martillo rhythm.....thank you!
As a dancer, love seeing this broken down. As a Californian moving to Iran, I know we have a lot of Conga drums there, but no latin players. I want to learn more.
Thank you, Shahram. You will find many videos on my channel and I hope you will enjoy it!
Very nice tutorial. Thanks!

¡Los grandes músicos! I love it!
Excelente leccion. muchas gracias.
Welcome here! I love the bongo too!
De nada y muchas gracias!
Thank You It's Great this lesson
Thanks a lot!!
Not sure if I'm hearing right but the second half of video regarding 2/3 clave still sounds like 3/2.. 2/3 should be two quicker strikes, then 3 strikes but in this case it still sounds 3/2. I know the bongosero starts counting "1" but clave still sounds 3/2 instead of 2/3..
Brilliant thank you gentlemen!
You're welcome and enjoy it!
Bongos for Christmas. This is the best so far :) love it.

Michael, how I can make better the sound and precission of the left hand? I've saw some of your bongos videos and you make the movement like a wave, can you explain that?

Muy buena saludos from Peru.... Chimpun Callao...!!!
Muchas gracias!
Saludos.
Muchas gracias!
Great, great! Thank you for the great educational work! One suggestion, if you allow: next time please try to get the camera above the head of the player, so that his right hand would be positioned also on my right side (hand). The "mirror" image is a bit confusing in the beginning. Thanks!
You need to update your channel. You have amazing videos.
I have a question, is the hem bra side suppose to start in 3/2 clave?
Your welcome!
GRACIAS!! EL SALVADOR CENTRO AMERICA
Really clear! Thanks!
Your welcome!!
:-)
hello Michel !!! I have a cuestion.. when you hit the second stike with the right hand.. is it an open sound? is it on the ring too? or you strike more in the middle of the macho? thank you a lot !!!!
amazing video, thanks!
Your welcome, Alex!
Hi and Thank you again x your videos. The first note play with the right thumb on macho has to be play with the left hand down on the macho too? (A kind of mute-stopped sound) Thank you . For newbie like me will be helpful a slower version
I mean the first note play with 2nd finger of right hand not thumb sorry
Sabroso !!
muchas gracias
I am a little confused as to whether I take my left hand off when I hit with the right hand to make an open sound, or do I leave it down to make it more flat? I love your lessons by the way. I started with congas and am now taking a break from them to work on bongos!
Did You get an answer for this?
Hi Michael! Do you have a lesson for Martillo on the Conga(s)? Is it the same pattern like it is on the Bongos?
+Cornelius Low The basic rhythm for congas is not the same. Here is a link with the basic rhythm for congas: czcams.com/video/Z5imKt0BbLM/video.html
Thank you very much Michael!
Muchas gracias Caly!
Could you suggest a bongo to buy, suited for beginners to medium level?
Well Pooja, most bongo's nowadays are good. If you look for bongo's from LP, Meinl, Toca, you'll find good ones. The cheaper models of these branches are also good.
LP low end model, brand new bongos are about $165 dollars in the U.S. you can get a good used pair for much cheaper.. good luck..!! Pooja Gudibanda
Hi Pooja. I found some Tycoon Percussion bongo that sound amazing and look beautiful as well. They are great quality and sound that compares to the bigger names and are less money because they are newer. Great customer service as well. They gave me a a replacement wood front for my cajon even thought I didnt need one. I just emailed asking what I could do if it cracked in the future and I did not see a place you could find replacement - so they just sent me one if I ever would need one. Worth a look.
Either he is playing it wrong or the notation is wrong. Shouldn't the 3rd quarter note in the first beat be an open tone on the macho? He plays an open tone but in the notation the 3rd quarter note in the 1st beat is notated as closed tone. The only open tone in the music notation is the low open note which is incorrect and confusing.
Ué kkkkkk
