Tom Jones and Steve Cropper and Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra at the Stax Records: 50 Years of Soul Prom. Watch more at: www.bbc.co.uk/proms
Strictly speaking, both musicians can perform music that is blues influenced. But neither of them make it a practice to perform primarily actual blues. At least, not the same as the three Kings, B.B, Albert, and Freddie, Albert Collins, Buddy Guy and so on. Both Tom jones and Steve Cropper, to my way of thinking, are both more related to popular music. They are both excellent musicians, and each able to perform a wide range of musical styles very well. And there is no question that both performers have worked with a panoply of musicians and do that both very professionally and in a very entertaining way!
Love this song, we was in BB Kings in Nashville and met a guy called Steve, his buddy told us he played with the Blues Brothers, anyway had a good chat and few drinks with him and his buddies, then he had to leave. We asked for our check and was told Steve had paid, it wasn’t till afterwards I found it was Steve ‘the colonel’ Cropper we had spent the evening with. Really want to get back to Nashville and thank him personally and buy him a drink.
NICE TO SEE BOOKER T SITTIN AT THE HAMMOND AS HE WALKS ON STAGE TO JOIN THE LEGENDARY STEVE "THE COLONEL" CROPPER. TOMS VOICE IS STILL AWSOME BUT STEVE CROPPERS PHRASING STIRS MY SOUL. THAT MANS PLAYING IS JUST MYSTICAL EVEN IN ITS SIMPLEST FORM. AWSOME PAIRING!!
Not a great fan but I remember seeing Tom back in the very late sixties with I think Jimmy Tarbuck as support......all I remember is what a great voice Tom had, he even started one song without the mike............amazing.
Absolutely; so many classics by B T & MG's Try 'You keep me hanging on' for starters' from the album 'Doin' our Thing' as an introduction. If you're a cricket fan, think about the theme to 'Test Match Special' and there's another example from the most wonderful blues /soul instrumentalists of the popular music era.
Went to see B B KING a few years ago, and Steve came in. I couldn't believe it. Wanted to get his autograph, but he was just out chilling. Was really great to see TWO LEGENDS IN ONE night!
можно ли забальзамировать Т. Джонса чтобы еще через 40 лет я снова видел его в здравии.... Впервые услышал его на пиратской кассете в 1975 году... мне было 14...
Tom remains a great stylist, though he has lost a little pitch-wise. Steve Cropper is a consummate guitarist/writer/ accompanist. Steve had to adjust his accompanment and time to Tom phrasing (which he did and seamlessly) Old pros.
just steve and tom you have about 150 years of musical expertise, and music business, and recording thousands of tunes in studo, and performing across the world, . so unless you have more experience and more talent than these guys, shut up and enjoy
Aways strong and velvety voice. Wonderful Tom ❤️
And Booker T on the Hammond. Legends all over the stage.
This is nice! Hearing a new interpretation by two legends!
RIP Otis Redding and Duck Dunn
Masterful performance!!! 🌹🌹
Heard Tom live blessed with such a wonderful voice
tom’s voice 💯% pureness
Wow Tom! "Who would prefer the new, having tasted the old wine?" You are better than ever! Truly
seasoned. Marry me.
I saw Steve Cropper playing a session with the Animals a few years ago in a pub at Reeth North Yorkshire. What a complete privilege.
Tom could have gone front of stage, but he knew the importance of the Crop, in the making of this brilliant song, so didn't steal the glory.
Ya man!
pure class...
What a pleasure to see two great blues musicians show each other such fond mutual respect.
Robert Farrer tom Jones is not a blues musician. That is an insult to blues music as a whole.
@@Bluestomiv I think Robert Farrer is totally correct and you are totally wrong

what a down to earth gesture!
что может быть лучше? Обожаю!!!
What a precious moment between two musical legends
Booker T Jones and Steve Cropper one of the best combinations
Two masters of their craft.
He still sounds amazing for almost 80
Amazing!👏👏👏👏
what's crazy is that Otis Redding sadly never got to hear the final version, with the sublime guitar licks added by Steve Cropper. such an iconic song
Lovely, glorious, wonderful.
Iconic moment at 2:14 - Steve and tom with Sir Henry Wood's bust between them in the background . . .
Tom jones is beyond belief...... nothing better than listening to Tom sing....
Anns Music listening to Otis Redding is better. ;P
Just brilliant

That's how ya do it.
Bloke on the Hammond sounded quite handy as well
De arrepiar Tom Jones que Canção maravilhosa
Total legend performance.
SHOW MAN!!!
That's awesome......
Incredible
Steve Cropper brilliant
You`re missing the real artist Steve Cropper, he is one of the legends in Memphis music. Listen to Booker T and the M G`s and you know what I mean...
Yeah on the left side of tom Jones(right side of the screen) sitting at the organ.
Went to see B B KING a few years ago, and Steve came in. I couldn't believe it. Wanted to get his autograph, but he was just out chilling. Was really great to see TWO LEGENDS IN ONE night!
Also played on the Otis Redding recording of this.
Who’s missing “The Colonel”? I came here to hear him more than Tom Jones.
MEGA ESTRELLA ⭐️ POR DÉCADAS . SIR TOM JONES 🎤🎶
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😻
One of the few men I approve to sing this song
What about eddie vedder
@@Kaftn That was actually a very interesting cover.

🎸🎹🎤 Dream team🎶, 🌛Otis😀
What about booker t on the organ?
And that’s how you do that.

Buon giorno al mio amore.
Tom and Steve, Amazing, remembering Otis redding 🌹❤️
Tom looks a lot better without beard 10years off
Glim Ting he prefers he's
beard..
Check out Booker T!
what a moving performance, and so poignant given this song was originally released after Otis Redding's untimely death

Toms singing makes everything better but i must say the original is far better in my opinion
