Oregon Public Broadcasting (OPB) is the primary television and radio public broadcasting network for most of the U.S. state of Oregon as well as southern Washington. OPB consists of five full-power television stations, dozens of VHF or UHF translators, and over 20 radio stations and frequencies. Broadcasts include local and regional programming as well as television programs from the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) and American Public Television (APT), and radio programs from National Public Radio (NPR), Public Radio International (PRI), American Public Media (APM), Public Radio Exchange (PRX), and the BBC World Service, among other distributors. Its headquarters and television studios are located in Portland. It started in 1923 as a radio public broadcasting network and began broadcasting on television in 1957. - Zábava
Fun fact: OPB was the second PBS/NPR station to exist. The oldest was Vermillion-based South Dakota Public Broadcasting.

Educational broadcasting in South Dakota began in 1919 with experimental broadcasts at USD's College of Engineering. USD was granted a full license in 1922, and went on the air that May 29 as WEAJ. It became KUSD in 1925. By 1952, the station settled at 690 AM at 1,000 watts, operating only during daylight hours to protect CBF in Montreal. In 1967, it acquired an FM sister station, KUSD-FM at 89.7. Also in 1967, South Dakota State University in Brookings signed on KESD-FM. The three stations merged in 1982 as South Dakota Public Radio.

Gotta give it to that 2007 design team. OPB continues to use a variation of that logo to the present day. They did not hop on the (State) PBS or PBS (City) branding like most PBS Television affiliates. Of course they also have the large radio network branded as OPB Radio as well.
I hear rumors that kids were always a little scared of the OEPBS logo, but it is kind of clever how it shows the pine trees then circulating around a star, a nod perhaps to OPB being tied originally to TV3 in Salem before TV10 signed on in Portland.
