  • Among a slowly shifting tide of societal attitudes, ABC TV program 'A Woman's Place' interviewed female university students about their future in 1961.
Many said it wasn't possible to work while raising children, while others felt it would make them better mothers to 'keep in contact with the rest of the world.' Students were asked if women should receive equal pay for doing the same work as men, and whether they were 'wasting their time' gaining qualifications.
This program aired in Jaunary 1961.
