    Rockler recently came out with their own under mount drawer slides that are much cheaper and just as good of quality as Blum. You might try them and save yourself a few bucks. Blum is $41 for 21 inches at my local Rockler, their brand is $27 for the same length.

    • @TimberBiscuitWoodworks

      I’ll have to check them out. Unfortunately I don’t have a Rockler around where I live so I have to buy them online. My biggest gripe with Rocker is their return policy so I don’t order from them very often.

    I just came across your channel and really enjoyed this video. It's a perfect example of how after action narration limits any waste of time or verbosity. It also flows incredibly smoothly. Your explanations are great and the humour is really on point. Also shows great skill. Lovely piece too. Earned my subscription.

    Re: Rubio hardener, I actually reached out to Rubio about this a while back. Instructions say to mix 3:1 oil to hardener but if you look at the containers, they give you more than 3x of the oil than they do the hardener. Their explanation was that some people don't always use the hardener, which is a dumb explanation because by not providing enough hardener they're forcing everyone to "not always use the hardener", but is an explanation nonetheless. It feels like a ripoff, but it's so good I keep buying it anyways.

    Also, at least one of your jokes hits me every time way harder than it should every time. It was the tennis player one this time. 16:30. That was a good one. 😂😂😂 And since you mentioned this was for organizing your son's stuff in the description, Happy Father's Day good sir!

  • @Chezowan1
    @Chezowan1 Před rokem +1

    Nice. The reason you have more Rubio hardener is because they don't provide the proper amount to match their own directions in terms of the mix of A to B. It's mind blowing, but for whatever reason, there isn't enough B for A.

    I like integrated pulls; however, I also like making my own pulls with a high contrast wood. For instance, I made some of my shop furniture with Radiata Pine and used Jarrah for drawer/door pulls. The trick was to make the pulls so they won't get caught on clothing as I walk by.
    Anyway, I really like this piece. The symmetry is definitely aesthetically pleasing and I feel those legs/feet compliment the piece nicely. 👌 I am also a sucker for push-to-open hardware and soft closing drawers. Well done, Shane!

    Pulls - it depends on the piece I'm doing, but generally I make my own. Great job on this, dude. I made something out of maple veneer ply and yeah... sooooooo thin. The oak veneer ply isn't much better, but it seems to withstand sanding better and blends better with solid wood. I don't have anywhere local to me for it, but you might look into getting cabinet-grade plywood next time. The veneer is much thicker, but then of course your wallet gets much thinner. Trade off?

    • @TimberBiscuitWoodworks
      @TimberBiscuitWoodworks  Před rokem

      Thank you! Yeah this was Pro Select maple which is why it is so surprising. I’ve used it on a few projects over the past year and this was by far the lowest quality. I have heard from quite a few people in the area that have the same experience.

    Just a question on grooves and date's. You said a groove runs with the grain and a dato runs cross grain. When putting a groove or dato in plywood, how is that determined? Isn't plywood small sheets of wood with the grain going a different direction with each layer?

    • @TimberBiscuitWoodworks
      @TimberBiscuitWoodworks  Před rokem

      I usually go based off the face grain for plywood when describing the joint. But yeah, plywood is crisscrossed sheets.

  • @executor485
    @executor485 Před rokem +1

    Combine? It depends on the piece though. Sometimes building a new handle has great reward too and is one that ends up being what sets the piece over the edge.
    But reality, I always have more part A as well. I tend to vary my finishes, but it's hard to argue with a good hardwax oil. I imagine that a team up of dad jokes "wood" be quite "plane". 👀

    • @TimberBiscuitWoodworks
