- In this video I walk through the steps to maintain your whole house water filter by using the backwash and fast rinse cycles to clean your carbon filter. This procedure is something that you want to do once every 7-14 days depending on your water usage. If you stick to this process regularly you will extend the life of your whole house water filtration system and always have good clean water.

Mine does it automatically every 21 days at 3 am
That’s awesome!! I didn’t know they make them automatic. Mine is manual. But not that big of a deal since it is not often.
i cant find any info on if you can change the kdf/gac media inside the 2cft tank. i'm trying to avoid having to buy a whole new tank like the rhino filter.
That's a great question! I'll make sure to create a video when I get to the point where I have to replace mine.
Does the manual state that the water softener’s water have to be shutoff? Im just curious because I have the same set up.
No. The manual didn’t state that. But I shut off the water softener feed so none of the carbon or things it has filtered accidentally gets in there. Just to be safe I guess.

I don’t have that 2nd black tank. It’s just the small filter housing then to the main control unit tank. What’s the procedure if I’m replacing the filter from the small housing
First you turn off the main water feed to the filter. If you don't have a cutoff close by you will need to shut off the water main too the house. Then find the faucet on the bottom floor of the home open it on both hot and cold and let all the water drain. Then hit the red button to release the pressure from the filter housing. Then use the filter housing wrench to unscrew the housing to replace the filter. You'll want to keep a bucket, and some towels nearby to catch the water that may drip out.
Thank You. During backwash, do I need to shut off main valve ? Coz so much water wasting during the process.
You have to leave the main valve to/from the house open. But you can shut off the valves at the water softener
Thank you for the tips. I have questions, after those procedure, i dont have any softener, what would be the cause?
Did you make sure to turn the knobs for the bypass valve back to the service position?

Were you getting soft water before back flushing?
@nkphomeimprovement3625 yes we got the soft water at the beginning. After a month, it's gone. We even tested the water and it's just the same as reg tap water. I followed all your tips but it's still not working
Something must not be right. How old is the water softener? Do you know when the last time was that the water softener ran through a refresh cycle?
