The Andalusian Cadence Medley live at TradFest 2022
We noticed that most of songs where people complain about their lovers a lot, tend to have the same chord progression. It has many names, the “lament”, the Andalusian Cadence, the Diatonic Phrygian Tetrachord, but we call it “the moany bastard chord progression”.
It goes all the way back to baroque music, but it’s still used today in popular music. See if you recognise some of these songs that use it. We start our song in 1580 and finish it in 2005.
