That is so cool! My parents have an old scrapbook from their honeymoon in Gatlinburg. Inside of the scrapbook is an old matchbook from Howard's. I said, "hey! That's where the Gatlinburg Hussey worked!" Thank you for watching, Sean. We really appreciate you.

Neat little Museum. Thought Gentrys reaction to the saying " You got time to lean you have time to clean" was so funny. Thanks for sharing

This museum was very interesting to see the history behind Colonel Sanders vision for the restaurant and also the memorabilia from the franchise throughout the years.
haha - We have used that quote with Gentry a time or two since this trip. Thank you for watching, Marilyn. We really appreciate you and hope that you have an excellent weekend.

We're with you - We always think of the Food Network when thinking about celebrity chefs, but the Colonel paved the way. Haha - his suit is pretty awesome. I would give major props to someone dressing up in that suit and going to an interview or a wedding. We hope that you guys had a great weekend. Thanks for watching.

Great video, I live in northwest Indiana and back in the 70s we got a KFC and at the grand opening Harland Sanders came to it. I still have a original chicken dinner boxes autographed by him.

    • @EveryDayIsSaturdayTV
      @EveryDayIsSaturdayTV  Před 2 lety

That would have been so neat to meet the Colonel. Those autographed chicken boxes I'm sure are a great conversation piece when you have guests over. He really modeled the American dream by having several failures & setbacks, then achieving success with his restaurant in his later years. Thanks so much for watching, Michael. We hope that you had a great weekend.

Thank you, Carla! We wondered the same thing - we read that they changed it to eliminate the "fried" from being in the title to appeal to more health conscious customers but they still served the "fried" food so we were confused on their reasoning. The boys really enjoyed learning more about Kentucky Fried Chicken and Colonel Sanders. Thanks so much for watching, Carla. We really appreciate you for commenting and watching.

What a cool place. Now, after you mentioned it, I will never look at his bolo tie the same...LOL! Stick figure for sure! I love Kentucky Fried Chicken. Growing up it was a real treat to go there to eat. When we did...we always brought a bucket home to share with my Grandparents. Now that I am thinking about it...I think that a bucket will make a good Sunday dinner! Mashed potato's, gravy, slaw and biscuits are in my very near future. Hope ya'll have a great week ahead! God bless!

Lol - you can't unsee the stick figure once you've seen it. That's wonderful that you have those great memories of Kentucky Fried Chicken growing up. Growing up, we used to grab a bucket and have a picnic near the lake. Every time we had a picnic, it was always Kentucky Fried Chicken on the menu - We always enjoyed when they had the buffet option in the winter months. We hope that you enjoy that Sunday dinner with all of those good sides - that sounds so good! We hope that you have a great weekend as well, Cathy! God Bless

Thank you so much, Patty. He really did live a fascinating life. We were excited to see that they preserved this history and place as well. We live close to where the original Cracker Barrel once stood here in Tennessee and it's been converted a commercial duplex with a Mexican Restaurant and a liquor store. We wish that they would have preserved the restaurants history somehow. Thank you for watching, Patty. We hope that you had a great weekend.

Such an interesting tour of this museum. Lots of memorable items on display and a very interesting look into the story of KFC and the Col Sanders journey. You delivered it all so perfectly and your family seemed to have a great time.
There is a KFC near my neighborhood. They used to have a buffet and that was one of our spots when we first moved here. They shut it down during COVID-19 and we haven't had it back sense. It was the end of a wonderful era.

Thank you so much! We had the same issue occur with the one KFC near us. The buffet as well as the entire dining room has still not re-opened. We would often go there for a quick lunch but it seems like those days are over. You said it best - it was the end of a wonderful era. We appreciate you for watching.

This museum was so much more interesting than I thought it would be. They did a good job with these exhibits. I learned a lot I didn't know about Colonel Sanders and his career. That is so cool that they have stuff from the Sanders Court Motel preserved. And so many artifacts from KFC history as well. Interesting stuff. Thanks for sharing this with us!

They really did create a perfect balance of Colonel Sanders backstory as well as the history of the Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise throughout the years. We had this mapped out during our trip since it wasn't too far from the interstate but we weren't expecting all that they had to offer. Thank you guys so much for watching. We hope that you have a great weekend!

That is so cool to be at the original KFC. Awesome to get to tour everything. I had no idea this excited. That was probably a super fancy shower/bathroom for it’s time! My mom says that too “if you have time to lean you have time to clean” 🤣 crazy seeing all of those spice mixtures he tried! Wow! He certainly perfected his recipe, if only he could see what a huge thing KFC became. Love the history of the bucket haha What a fun experience! Thanks so much for bringing us along 😊☀️

That's funny that your mom uses the same quote about leaning and cleaning. It was unreal how many spices that he tried before perfecting his chicken recipe. That's so true - if he could only see what KFC has grown into today. Thanks for coming along for the tour. We hope that you guys had a great weekend.

Colonel Sanders wears a string tie, not a bolo tie. A bolo tie is a braided cord with a decorative sliding clasp.

The real reason they had to change their name to KFC was the state of Kentucky in a major act of greed, had the word "Kentucky" trademarked and charged a licensing fee for anyone using the work "Kentucky" for profit. KFC tried to work out a grandfather clause to but the greedy government refused so they changed the name and used it in conjunction with switching to vegetable oil and claimed that as the reason for the name change.
