    I consider myself an American African. America is my location. African is how I identify. Sadly, us black folks don’t even realize how much of our African culture we still retain. Every “African American” needs to visit Africa one time. I guarantee they will see themselves in the people and the culture! I know I did in Ghana, Sierra Leone and even Nubia. Like Jon Henrik Clarke said, we need to stop identifying so much with where we got dropped off at, and more with where we come from. AMERICAN AFRICAN all day!!!!

    The issue is that in her mind and many who think like her,Africa at this point in time is not a place to be proud of and consequently,she needs to do everything she can to not be associated with it as it lowers her pedigree.Once Africa becomes globally acclaimed,the song will change.That is all it is about in reality.

    • @JonGreeny
      @JonGreeny Před 2 měsíci

      @@marteza654 And you are behaving exactly just like her by vehemently denying your ancestral lineage which is purely African. It simply boils down to the fact that most AA's want to cling on to the political and economic privileges the USA enjoys on the global stage. In short, selling your heritage cheaply just to be associated with a world power. American-Indians are proud of their Indian heritage, American-Asians are similarly proud, American-Europeans always make reference to their various European countries. AA's are the only group of people who out of self hatred have cheaply bargained theirs for a few material pursuits.

    • @JonGreeny
      @JonGreeny Před 2 měsíci

    Usually, I may oppose this view from this Girl but I can see her points.
    Why should white people ask everybody to leave America? They are the ones to leave. Besides, the Blacks in America will not necessarily escape to Africa, if that happens. The refugees from Haiti etc. if not escape to America, they travel to Europe. Therefore, your assumptions are not correct.
    The term African American was not invented by white people in USA but by people like Jesse Jackson who advocated for the name. However, the etymology is known from 1782. Your own video shows that she is aware of his African ancestry. So, why do you doubt that? If there were black people before the white people, they had also their ancestors from Africa. Human beings were Africans first before they spread themselves to all continents. The first human beings in India were Africans. Yet, nobody get mad about that the blacks in India are just called Indians. Even though, it sounds strange, I can see her points with Barack Obama. The Term African American is used on African descendants who are in USA as a result of slavery. Obama's father is from Kenya and has nothing to do with the slaves in America (as you also mentioned). Hence, he does not fit the term African American but American. Africans in America does not either regard themselves as African Americans.
    Lastly, not all African Americans are Blacks. It is a racist definition invented by white people stating that every person with a drop of black blood is black (the one drop rule). Thus, many Black Americans if not most are multiracial and are descendants of mainly Europeans and Africans. For that reason, you can find some African Americans who are as white as Nordic people such as the Scandinavians.
    Jamaica (and Haiti) is a different story. There, black is black. No, one drop rule there.

      Even though those we call African Americans came to America as a result of slavery, there were black people in US before the those we today call Native Americans. It is because of political issues scientists have accepted that, despite that they disagree. Those Blacks were Africans. It is also a common knowledge that Africans are the first human beings on earth and spread out to the rest of the world. However, the lady does not deny her African ancestry. She even compare Europeans in South Africa with Black Americans. Whilst we don't call the white as European Africans and just South Africans, she also want to be termed as American without any prefixes.
