Who gives a damn if you want to be called African-American,American- African or American?I was born here in America by my Nigerian parents but I choose to be called a Nigerian everyday all day.
Point is, she doesn't have to be mad when called African American, cos she acknowledges the fact that she's of African decent.
@@KammaDyn but she's prefer black American because the term African-American makes her comparable to immigrant groups
I consider myself an American African. America is my location. African is how I identify. Sadly, us black folks don’t even realize how much of our African culture we still retain. Every “African American” needs to visit Africa one time. I guarantee they will see themselves in the people and the culture! I know I did in Ghana, Sierra Leone and even Nubia. Like Jon Henrik Clarke said, we need to stop identifying so much with where we got dropped off at, and more with where we come from. AMERICAN AFRICAN all day!!!!
Some of our people are simply deceiving themselves.
No one is saying they're not Americans but they shouldn't be mad when they're called African American.
@@KammaDyncuz we don't want a term that was forced on us in the 90s I was born in 86 with no such thing as an African-American
You're a tether. Your family isn't from here
@@choco.es.unlimited You are proud sounding like a backward republican..
She's speaking facts 🔥 but we have been here longer than 4 or 500 years
How does that change your ancestral lineage?
"African American" is a name given to "Black Americans" by themselves. They should leave us alone and not try to always blame us Africans for their own confusion. Let them take up this conflict with Jesse Jackson
You are the ones making videos about why black Americans won't pretend that they Africans
Hebrew in the house! Our New Year is March 19th rejoice! For those who dont know Him or want a better relationship, the book of Leviticus. Shows how to walk in Him. Diet, celebration, and community. Praise Yah!!!😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
some of us have American native. some of us have both, some European, we are from everywhere, and everywhere is us. we are the hue- man.
Yeah, thanks for watching
Ask them to give you 20 examples of culture.
The issue is that in her mind and many who think like her,Africa at this point in time is not a place to be proud of and consequently, she needs to do everything she can to not be associated with it as it lowers her pedigree.Once Africa becomes globally acclaimed, the song will change. That is all it is about in reality.
It has nothing to do with the position that Africa is in we are not Africans never been called African until 1990s our parents are not African grandparents not African Great grandparents not African culture history and mindset
@@marteza654 And you are behaving exactly just like her by vehemently denying your ancestral lineage which is purely African. It simply boils down to the fact that most AA's want to cling on to the political and economic privileges the USA enjoys on the global stage. In short, selling your heritage cheaply just to be associated with a world power. American-Indians are proud of their Indian heritage, American-Asians are similarly proud, American-Europeans always make reference to their various European countries. AA's are the only group of people who out of self hatred have cheaply bargained theirs for a few material pursuits.
Absolutely this is what it all boils down to. They see Africa and based on it's current stage of development refuse to acknowledge it as their ancestral home even though it is the place where their lineage goes back to.
Education is good
We are Americans don't let any one tell you that you are not America, doses it make African feel better to try and make us feel like we don't have a home?😊😊
Nobody is saying you aren’t American but be American all the time, not when the going gets tough and bad like when the American white police begins to brutalize you then you claim to be African-American.
I'm confused, why do you have a picture of Michelle Obama on your thumbnail?
Lol!!!Wow!!I like the fact that at least she knows and admits her descendancy, what really discomforts her is the preposterousness of the manner in which the classification of races is used in the USA...
Yes, your ancestors mysteriously appeared in the South😅
Lol
Jesse Jackson provided Back Americans an opportunity to open an African door nobody is forcing you to open it.
Apparently when filling forms you can identify as a black American or African American so what is the problem?
Some black Americans want to be associated with the Continent and want to be called African Americans
Why you worried someone’s ethnicity?? I don’t get this ?? Why you worried ?? Like explain why u worried
We don't need nobody we are not begin for people we have our people woman ok
Well at least she wholly accepts that she is of African decent and thats all that matters..proof she is true to her roots.
She says she's not African but turns around to acknowledge her ancestral African lineage. That sounds like a confused person to me.
I agree 100% with her. It’s the truth!
You need education just like her.
Here’s the deal, we know we have roots in Africa but technically we are not African… we’re not trying to be divisive but we have a different lineage and history just like Caribbeans… The only time the diaspora calls us African is when we say we aren’t otherwise they do everything they can to differentiate themselves from us… why do we have to identify as what other want us to??? I am a black American, not African, and Obama and Harris are not black American/FBA we don’t have the same lineage as them either…
Is it about administrative identity? Cultural identity?
Of genealogical origin?
Nationality ? Place of birth?
Or about personal identity?
What does she tell us about in her interview?
Im so sad just watching her speak, she had no idea of what she was talking about
All indigenous people has unique culture.
The "You can't be American" police must have pulled her over again.
We do Mac and cheese.😂😂
Hello three nobody is calling you African say in your American ok
we are Black Americans I 100% agree with her
Y'all don't even get alone with us!!!!!!!! But want us to call ourselves African
You might be thinking that way cos of what you've heard, but we love you guys..
Exactly
@@meisha3899Right! And forget most don't like us for no reason
Black Americans, being called American doesn't change anything of you.
Trying to hide under the umbrella of America is a defeated approach.
Until we all those who look like African(melanin carries) come together, you cannot win any fight in the United States of America.
Mr and Ms Black American yes some of your ancestors were there first before anyone but the same ancestors also migrated from Africa to there. Simple common sense.
Ugh no wonder the country will never come together and unite
This is petty
Everything is in ur head African do not want u
White wash
If you have a problem is your own problem
my dad a indian my mom from kenya and i still call myself african american and am lighter than obama
She's speaking the FACT. She was born in America
Not denying that fact.
Point is you acknowledge you're of African decent but don't wanna be called African American. Smh
Nationality is different from ancestral lineage. LOL
But she is right 😂
Well i am a black American. I was was born in America and no one changes the status of whom i am
You need education.. you need to learn American history. If you did, you won't never say that shit...
I understand your issues, you could claim American if you all like but we do not give a dammed of who you are, we know there is many of you who also claimed Hebrews, Israelits, native Indians, and some you does claim you are in America before the whites folks, please we don't care what you black Americans claimed to be bro
@@IGBOAmericanKing well said bro!!!! I appreciate your comment.. I am from Alabama and here, we are proud of our African lineage. We are proud to be called African Americans.. I hope folks read your comment and really understand the danger of not knowing our lineage or history.. our story didn't start from slavery... We are a people, a great and proud people.
why not call biden a euroamerican president
Biden proudly will tell you ,he’s Irish
We are not Americans either...
Lol
She is really ignorant.
You are wasting your time, my friend.
Usually, I may oppose this view from this Girl but I can see her points.
Why should white people ask everybody to leave America? They are the ones to leave. Besides, the Blacks in America will not necessarily escape to Africa, if that happens. The refugees from Haiti etc. if not escape to America, they travel to Europe. Therefore, your assumptions are not correct.
The term African American was not invented by white people in USA but by people like Jesse Jackson who advocated for the name. However, the etymology is known from 1782. Your own video shows that she is aware of his African ancestry. So, why do you doubt that? If there were black people before the white people, they had also their ancestors from Africa. Human beings were Africans first before they spread themselves to all continents. The first human beings in India were Africans. Yet, nobody get mad about that the blacks in India are just called Indians. Even though, it sounds strange, I can see her points with Barack Obama. The Term African American is used on African descendants who are in USA as a result of slavery. Obama's father is from Kenya and has nothing to do with the slaves in America (as you also mentioned). Hence, he does not fit the term African American but American. Africans in America does not either regard themselves as African Americans.
Lastly, not all African Americans are Blacks. It is a racist definition invented by white people stating that every person with a drop of black blood is black (the one drop rule). Thus, many Black Americans if not most are multiracial and are descendants of mainly Europeans and Africans. For that reason, you can find some African Americans who are as white as Nordic people such as the Scandinavians.
Jamaica (and Haiti) is a different story. There, black is black. No, one drop rule there.
Thanks a lot for sharing this piece with us.
Thing is I'm not disputing her facts but just didn't agree with some of the things she said.
U contradict yourself so many times in your statement. 😂
Even those blacks who were there before white people came where sid they coming from???? Only brown skin red Indians with straight curling hair were indigenous not the blacks who migrated from Africa before slavery
OK, thanks for watching and sharing this piece
Yeah and what people wrote the books that told you they migrated from Africa and weren't here from the start. Guess we should just believe in whatever they write without question.
Even though those we call African Americans came to America as a result of slavery, there were black people in US before the those we today call Native Americans. It is because of political issues scientists have accepted that, despite that they disagree. Those Blacks were Africans. It is also a common knowledge that Africans are the first human beings on earth and spread out to the rest of the world. However, the lady does not deny her African ancestry. She even compare Europeans in South Africa with Black Americans. Whilst we don't call the white as European Africans and just South Africans, she also want to be termed as American without any prefixes.
And please stop the DNA talk
