- Today plans changed again as the winter weather didn't allow me access to my originally planned prospecting spot, so I end up in another place just downstream a few miles.

We were in Scotland in the fall of 2010, the snow was 4 feet and that was even at lower town / city elevation, we didn't pan for gold but had the most wonderful vacation in the highlands, people were very friendly and helpful, unlike our home town here in Nashua NH where most people are horrid, ignorant and the crime is out of control. Nothing beats the UK !
Not a lot of gold but Man....being in Scotland panning for gold on a beautiful day in an awesome river setting.....priceless!!! Life is good!!! Really enjoying your UK vids Shane. Thanks.
Thanks glad you're enjoying the UK videos. There's a few more coming every 3 days.
That old bridge is really sweet. Awesome finding gold in Scotland.
Rays World yeah it was really cool thanks Ray
KleshGuitars there's lots of good sites to metal detect in Scotland, also a few extinct volcanoes that used to have the area beside me like yellowstone a few million years ago with hot springs, lots of quartz gold and various other metals, the geology and mineral content changes every 3 miles or so, was at a site with an open quarry and daily blasting that ripped up quartz tonnes at a time with impure gold in it, can send you a photo if you would like.
Im so glad your sharing this with us. My family is from Scotland many moons ago. lol
Mark Conner very cool and glad ya enjoyed the video
Frigging awesome! So my dad and my grandad immigrated to British Columbia when my dad was a young teenager. So so when I was about 4 years old my granddad would set me out in a pile of rocks with a magnifying glass and tell me to go prospecting for gold. I was so into it, I would sneak my Grandma's jewelry with the fake diamonds and pick them out...no good. LOL. I loved it. So since late last year I bought some bags of paydirt and I'm so hooked! Your videos are awesome and I watch all the local CZcamsrs Dan and
Pauly. If you ever come to BC I would love to meet you. I am watching all your states. Thanks!
That's a cool story and thanks glad you're enjoying mine!
I'm happy to sit on a rock in the middle of the river.... I like that. You have excellent panning technique. Thanks for posting
Yep, that's what it's all about for me. I pan fairly quickly but efficiently, I tested my concentrate tailings from 2017 and found very little gold. Thanks for watching
very cool that you could pan in Scotland. I too right now wish I could be sitting on a rock panning with my kids!! Great video as always.
It's always a good time on the river. thanks for watching!
Dude ive been watching your channel for some time, been a little busy with work and stuff never had s clue you was in my home town, if i had known i would have took you to my hotspot ive had pickers at 1-2 grams ,just under 2oz last year but 97% purity so all good i metal detect aswell which gives me indication i discriminate iron only if i get copper audio then gold isnt far away out comes my sluce
Wow i have yet to find a picker but I'm not really able to dig very deep, or for very long. Your comment here gives me hope that they're out there! Thanks for watching!
Just a tip not that you need it , if you want more than a few specks move a bit further down from the bridges they will have been hammered and not sure if you know in uk any persons prospecting have to fill in any holes they havd dug crazg i know but its been like that for years so what you found was most likely what someone missed. But its entirely up to yoh how you prospect :)
@@jjgengland1486 Next time I visit the UK I'll get with ya man, maybe find some pickers!
Great video, beautiful location , so peaceful, glad you found some of that lovely Scottish gold
Thanks and yea it was an excellent time!
Your a real nice guy Shane and for what I can see you must work really hard at your job, thanks for visiting the uk.
Thanks Corrie, well I do it full time and put all my effort into the videos. Thanks for writing and the UK was a great place!
KleshGuitars I absolutely love america and its people, it's just amazing history and the shear size of the USA, I guess that's why they call it the American Dream. Thanks for the reply Shane and love the videos keep up the great work!!
Yeah the US has some really diverse geology and tons of places to explore. I like it!
Cool little Gold adventure!
"U got Gold in the pan!"
Awesome video from Scotland. I always enjoy watching you no matter where you are or what you're doing. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Shirl!@
I’m thinking of giving it a go , it’s only five hours drive for me to get to where you are , it’s a beautiful day out and you luckily got a sunny crisp day there , heaven actually and finding a bit of gold we’ll that just makes it real and worth the effort thanks and keep up the videos
Great video, so glad you found at least some gold and that your journey out there wasn't completely scuppered by the weather. :D
Thanks yeah it was a good time the UK is a great place to visit. Especially to get addicted to caffiene LOL
Lovely spot.
A little tip.
No need to remove the gold between pans.
If you are doing it right it all stays in there regardless of throwing in more dirt to pan.
This way forgetting your snuffer doesn't matter.
Pan how long you want and take the gold home in the pan. :)
Good Idea Mark Selten! Thanks for watching!
Great adventure, it's not everyday you get to pan for gold In Scotland, That alone makes it priceless. Take care and Happy hunting!
I agree, was great. Don't even care if I found gold or not. Thanks for watching!
Lol seems we hit the same type of spots. Just been able to find flour gold and specs so far on rapidan and Rappahannock rivers. It is kewal to find an area worked because you absolutely know there is or was gold there. Great video and that bridge is awesome bet there is not one piece of rebar in that whole bridge just mortor and rocks.
Yeah, I can't dig for very long so I take what I can get. As for the bridge, I'm sure it was all stone. The bridge is the only connection between certain towns in that part of Scotland for centuries and it's just totally massive and solid rock.
A few gold flakes but a great and fun experience. So cool! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching glad you liked the video!
I couldn't help but notice you were quite near the dams. If it wasn't for the snow you could of gone further up stream beyond the 3 dams and had better results.
Hi Graham, yes that's where I originally wanted to go. Like you said, the snow was pretty deep and I couldn't hike in to the burn from the road it was too far. It's OK i enjoyed the place I found here in the video, thanks for watching!
The green/white rock looks like amazonite on quartz. Beautiful stone.
I kept it as a reminder of that awesome day, thanks for watching !
Thanks for sharing this with us...!
I wouldn’t be able to leave until I had a nice nugget to
take home from Scotland...
Have a great day and stay safe during your travels.
Thanks Troy Stutsman for watching!
British GOLDPANNING CHAMPIONSHIPS are for 2022 JUNE 4/5th at Wanlockhead if you are planning a long stay you could get a secondhand ambulance for £1500 or less on Gumtree, With a licence for the two estates it qualifies you to take the gold with you and even sell it.
It was nice to see you panning outside again. That's what she said to the, "lead in the pan is a good thing"..lol sorry if that was too choice....It's railroader humor.
It's always good to get out there, thanks for watching!
I am from Scotland there's a place called Wanlockhead and Leadhills is another that's good it has a famous mine there,it's in the Dumfries and Galloway area.
I almost made it down there but was a bit too far south from me that time. Next time, ill be there! Thanks for watching!
Yeah you weren't kidding. Considering I was convinced the UK was completely gold dry I'm definitely feeling more motivated to go out, despite the 6 hour drive to Scotland. I'm going mountain climbing over in Wales later this year, I'll be sure to do some panning there too and report back my findings👍.
Totally worth the trip. Even if you don't find gold, you're guaranteed to have a great time looking for it!
So cool to see it doesn't take an ounce of gold to make you happy. Can tell that just being there doing what you are doing is all you need. Definatly a dude that just enjoys the little things this earth has to offer. Great International video Shane. Thx for the ride. Till next one!
It was a great time, lots of work but totally worth it. Ill be visiting again, have some crazy plans for the UK lined up!
@@Klesh Sounds great!
strangley enough I decided to actually rake up gold panningnlast year after watching klesh and a couple others and this is the river I started on, although on the opposite bank. hadn't seen this video until today and hadn't tried where he was digging but prob take my son along next weekend now and try.
Great stuff . There is gold in the UK for sure.
Thanks MrDazp1 for watching!
nice finds, nothin better than being outside and gold panning all day
It was a good day thanks for watching!
The green half is probably jasper. Love the video. Thank you.
Yeah I think so too, thanks for watching glad ya enjoyed it!
Been looking forward to this video!!
KickMeImAFK thanks for writing and watching!
Hi man, Greetings from the UK. Been watching your videos for a few weeks and they are awesome. Then I thought to myself, I wonder if he's been to the UK. And then I saw your Scotland video! So cool. I hope to do some panning and detecting in my area one day. Market Bosworth, famous for the Battle of Bosworth in 1485.
Keep up the awesome videos!
Thanks
Jacob
Thanks, yeah the UK was a great place to go treasure hunting! It's got such amazing history there I can't wait to go back. Thanks for subbing and for watching!
The hard boiled eggs may have been because Easter was 2 weeks before this video 😂 Am not sure if its just a Scottish thing but on easter you paint eggs and roll them down hills.
OH that explains it then
I've mopped up flour gold with Kleenex and even pocket lint lol, I live in Iowa so flour gold is all we get.
Oh cool, finding flour gold would be fun but I'm sure it gets old pretty quick. I'd like to head to California for some nuggets
must of missed this one :) great prospecting trip to Scotland :)
If you want to find some rarer gold, pop down here to Wales. Welsh gold is the rarest gold you can find. :)
I might have to try some time, thanks!
I saw the eggs and thought hmmm...probably not that close to Loch Ness, so probably safe. Lovin the trip!
It was pretty strange I guess someone had a fun time throwing eggs into the river...?
always good to find some kind of color... take that one off the bucket list
Yeah it was a good time, thanks!
At least your in the right area that's nice over there
Yeah I was in the right spot, just couldn't dig very deep (i'd like to though!) thanks for watchign Bill
great video Klesh glad you had a good time Mel
I remember this video!! Where it all started for me 😊 thanks Shane now ive got the fever there’s no going back 🤣 still can’t work out where you are lol I know the ochills and a few good spots. Next time you’re in Scotland hit me up 🤙🏻 il show you a few good spots on the richest river in Scotland 🏴 peace
Oh that would be great - and I do plan on returning (bringing my missus next time, her family's ancestors from Scotland) so after covid we will set something up!
@@Klesh nice man! There is a few “meet ups” - covid depending, in June & July on the FB pages, 1 in lead hills 1 in tyndrum. Would be cool if yous can make it hit me up 😊🏴💙
No way I’ve watched your videos for a long time and didn’t know there was a Scotland video I live here!
Really dig your videos! I live in West Virginia, a state definitely not known for gold.. But I have found flower gold in local stream in Kanawha County.. Keep up the great work buddy!
That's interesting, I haven't found gold in WV yet. Any exact location you want to give away? I'd fly out there just to find flour gold. I'm trying to get all US states and territories off the list.
@@Klesh Yes sir.. A little stream called Davis Creek, in Charleston.. It's all flower gold, and not much black sands.. Love to have you in WV, even get you a jar of shine. Ha ha! May the bottom of your pan be golden!
Awesome again! Thanks for the upload. Glad your travels were safe.
Thanks glad you enjoyed it Ben
Next time you are in Scotland try the Leadhills area I go up there regularly good gold and a nice area. Glad you enjoyed your trip over here
I plan to, thanks!
Thanks for your videos Klesh - really meditative. Keep em' coming!
Great stuff! I'm living just around corner from glen Devon. Out with my boys quite often and always a good find. Where exactly is that spot you were? Looks like a nice place to hang out with my little ones...
Hey thanks I messaged you back 👍
The hard boiled eggs are for feeding escapee pet Boas & Crocs.
OH haha
I'm going to share this with a friend of mine who is living in Scotland. She is interested in planning now
Nice!
Watched your video once and signed up as I enjoyed your video and I recognised the place straight away roughly 5 mile from me we used to camp there years ago rumbling bridge just down the road would be a good place mostly bed rock there
@KleshGuitars
where in Bonny Scotland were you at? Tyndrum is one of the best places to find gold as long as you don't go in the gold packed mine as it's owned by Austrilia. sadly they can't mine the gold there as they want to dump the rubbish around the mine and the mine is right in the heart of a national protected park, they were told they can mine it but anything they pull out other than gold has to be put back in like it was and thats why that mine is still sitting there in limbo.
I visited Inverness and drove south to Edinburgh, then west to Glasgow. I also flew down to London but didn't do anything there as far as treasure hunting (other than geocaching).
@@Klesh what river was it in inverness?
A nice day out. Looked very relaxing not promising but relaxing.. Thanks Shane hope you had a good time.
Always promising out there, away from the city! Thanks for watching!
your videos are going better :D I love to watching you as specialy when the new video is comming out so im in the notification crew :3
Pan Złotko thanks and glad ya enjoyed it
It certainly does have gold my friend's!
Thanks Scotland's Gold for watching!
Great video! That green and quartz rock would make a nice necklace.
Yeah it would, very cool idea man. Thanks for watching
That bridge is awesome. What a nice day.
A bridgeee!!
2:10 you didn't forget, you just remembered huehuehue
That's true!
Awsome, next time yiur hear give this young 50 yr old a shout, (bucketlist haha)so a can learn from someone with plenty experiance. Thanks loved the video
And wht you do. Good luck with your adventures atb guys .
hey man you should buy a bag of dirt from the home improvement store there to see if it has gold in it like home depot does!
Dirt won't have gold like sand, because the sand it heavy and is much more likely to have bits of gold trapped with it. Cool idea though, thanks for watching
What an amazing place to prospect for gold!
thats cool its nice seeing that there is still gold in ancient places
Thanks Anthony Osborne for watching!
You have had lots of good luck all over on your trip.👍👍👍👍
Well not a lot of gold, but lucky in the fact that I got to see a lot of the country and got some peace and quiet on the river! Thanks for watching~!
Hi Shane on another subject congratulations 2 the Scotsman that won the Tour de France excellent first for your old country victory
Thanks Jan Johannes Smith for watching!
Oh my God, he's going to go off the road!
Nice relaxing day in Scotland. Gotta love it. Cheers!
Glad you enjoyed it
Looks like a what Amazonite hunters call a 'White Cap', but it's tumbled :D
Thank you Mogollon Treasure Hunters!
Such fun to watch the video, thank you for the entertainment from a beautiful location, thats the kind of day to recharge your batteries.
For sure. it was a great place to sit in the middle of a river!
pretty views Klesh :D congrats on finding Scotland gold!
Thanks glad you enjoyed the views :)
Great area to search for gold. Great. Keep it up.greetings Tom
Thanks Goldjunge for watching!
Tyndrum, Crianlarich is the best place in scotland to pan for gold the largest gold nugget found in scotland was found the and as a scot i know its the best place
If you have a detector why not pass it over the pan of gravel before you toss away what didn't pass through your classifier - just in case you had a bit of 'string gold' in there..? Nice video though.
Detector battery was dead, and also the AT Pro most likely wouldn't pick up any small gold. Thanks for watching!
DON'T dig holes in the river banks. That's the best way to get panning banned, like in Wales.
Awesome spot!!
I agree Diamond Miner Ivins, and thanks for watching!
Nice vid fella.
Thanks glad you liked it
I am of the bloodline Mary Queen of Scots. I hope to visit one of these moons.
Nice!
Another awesome vid from your trip to the UK
Thanks
Scottish prospecting look a lot different from the areas I go in Colorado. Way less black sands haha. Beautiful area there in Scotland though!
Yeah here in Colorado I get tons of black sand, in Scotland..just a little bit. Much better quality gold over there but much more in CO. Thanks for watching!
Enjoyed the video, would love to know if the gold is bigger deeper down towards the bedrock.
Yeah i'd say yes. The bigger pieces have more weight so you'll find more gold near and inside the bedrock.
"It's strange, there's hard boiled eggs everywhere under the water" Ahaha nah that's just Scotland for you😂🥚! new subscriber here love the content have watched loads of videos so far, keep it up! :)
Thanks MrAdam741 glad you enjoyed it!
Spent many times camping where you were at!
Reallly very cool! There’s gold but you’ll need to dig
Awesome video. It is really cool that you found some Scottish gold.
Yeah it was pretty cool thanks!

Next time you come over to Scotland, head to Tyndrum for gold prospecting.
I almost went there last time but never made it. I'll check it out next time! Thanks
Chunkier course gold plus many nuggets and much more of it. Loving the videos. Take it easy.
What is wrong with a certain group that consistently give a thumbs down? If you don't like the videos stop watching. It's real easy...duh...
wherever it went classic
