Great idea. I just re inked my black. I am going to ink the new stamp pad with the old pad and transfer as much ink as I can first. Great timing I needed to get a new black.❤❤❤🎉

Great Idea ..I have always done this with my distress inks when they have worn out 😁I did not have a black distress pad so I inked an old pale yellow one with black distress re-inker

I like this idea! My Memento Tuxedo Black is the pad I use daily and the linen is wearing out. I am having threads coming out the side. I may give this pad idea a try. I do like the way the foam pads ink the stamp ad they stamp so well. Thanks!

What I like about this idea is that our regular stamp pads are easy to open and handle without getting ink on our fingers. In removing or replacing the Momento lid I always get ink on my fingers and often don’t realize it until I’ve ruined something I’m working on. I like this idea a lot and will give this a try! Thank you!

That’s funny, I think stampin up pads are hard to open. But I am wondering if they get easier over time. I may just need to use mine more…?

I appreciate this tip, and I know that I’m in the minority here, but I hate Stampin Up pads! They are extremely hard to open, put in place to use and closing it is a real pain. I get ink all over my hands whenever I use them. Any other ink pad is better than SU pads.

I have been wondering, you know how people do the baby wipe technique? That seems like it’s so wasteful with the re inkers. Could we use a plain pad with color combos we know we would reuse, and have the same effect?
Hi Tracy, since this pad is solid the colors would just mingle and get muddy. We used to have a kaleidacolor pad that had separate pads in one that you clicked together when you wanted to use it and that was neat. Did you see how I mixed some colors on my glass mat the other day? That did not waste a lot of ink. Hugs, Di

Hi Kelly, I did not use a whole lot, it was not a full bottle at all to begin with. Just put a small amount in and spread it around, and add more as needed. Hugs, Di

And it stacks nicely with other Stampin Up pads. And less likely to get black ink on you by taking the lid on and off. I must be careful with the lid, I get black ink on me often. I have to clean up the original black ink pad case and lid. 💎

I did this years ago. It wasn’t my idea, but right after SU started shipping the white pads without ink another demonstrator had a video on this idea. I started using it right away. These ideas are recycled over and over.

I am not a fan of these types of pads. Lol. Most are so hard to open (the white one you are using now for black). Thanks for the explanation as to why. Always open to new ideas. Appreciate you sharing! Never know when one person’s idea works for another. I myself think these pads are a pain in the butt to open. 🤷♀️lol

Yikes! I absolutely, respectfully, wholeheartedly disagree!! I was so dismayed that stampin' up stoppped producing their black ink pad and traded for a linen felt memento pad. It always bows in the middle and dries out SUPER quick.. I will take foam pads ANY day. 😊
