- čas přidán 12. 04. 2022
- In the season finale of “The Big Thing,” Magnus Walker takes to the track at Willow Springs with all three generations of Ford GT. A Ford GT40 MKIII, a first Generation Ford GT and a second Generation Ford GT. All three cars embody the spirit, grit and determination of the Ford Motor Company from different eras, and all three are each "The Big Thing," themselves, but which one will Magnus fall for the most?

We're so glad to see our MKIII with all generations!
We hope there'll be a discount for car enthusiasts. These days only rich guys like Magnus Walker can afford to visit Petersen 😞
Thanks for letting it out of the stables for all of us 🙏
@@Bookerdevin101 Not the time or the place...
I was at the Peterson recently but the Ford GTs and GT40 were no longer there. Instead the entire tour was about 1900-1930s cars which I don’t care about 😂 no more vault visits for us. Matter of fact there were no real sports cars race cars or muscle cars, because the guy spent the e tore your talking about 1920s 30s and 40s cars 🤦♂️ horrible, complete waste of money and time. The only 2 cool cars there were on the upper floor Mclaren P1 and Ferrari La Ferrari
@@obsidian.... Policing the comments? Really?
The 05 GT still looks modern. A timeless design.
and the gt90
I had the pleasure of seeing 2 in person. The owner of the dealership that I worked at owned one and then one rolled by me in my schools parking lot.
@@petkokrushev3840 nah gta40 does look old
I like it more than the latest one tbh
I don’t think so , try saying that to ZR1 that always roast that FORD whatever Gen is C6 or C7 and soon C8 will be 😂😂 so please dream well before life shocks you to wake when C8 ZR1 came out .
Hagerty has become the defacto car enthusiasts channel on CZcams, period. Between all the shows that you are producing there can't be enough. We need more! Cheers to whomever has the brains to produce the ongoing content here as well as with Cammisa. Hats off to you all!
Literally, the best car CZcams channel.
The production is at another level, and the informations they give are 100% accurate.
Unlike other Car channels. (Donut media, wink wink)
@@FaresDjebbar hagerty get a lot of funding from their actual company itself
@@FaresDjebbar I do agree though that the quality is amazing
With Carmudgeon also coming to Hagerty it seems they are taking over the whole automotive journalism scene. RIP Mototrend.
Petrolicious used to be so butterfly inducing back in the day but has lost its way!
Great video. Just an editing note, the constant, epic music is absolutely not needed when the cars’ soundtrack is so good.
Just made this comment. In the very least, turn it down. I can barely hear Magnus sometimes.

Gotta love all the GT's.
I wish Magnus would just talk in his normal voice when narrating.
His narration voice is one for telling kids scary stories, not for automotive narration.
I wish Jason was here instead.
It is his genuine voice. Love or leave it.
@@machtschnell7452 It's clearly a put on voice. Listen to how he has normal conversations with people. He doesn't use that voice for conversation.
Right?!
🤣👍
I really wish this was Jason review
You and me both buddy.
Yep ... magnus is a legend ... but he's not a presenter
I would go for the 2nd gen. too.
I'll go for all 3 but the second gen is really a special car tho
26:27 "I'm in the zone"
It says a lot about the MKIII and how accessible the performance is to be able to feel like you're in the zone only after a short time behind the wheel. I mean, it's a racecar.
The way this guy ends every sentence… is a high note😅
just visited the henry ford museum the other day, and got to see the 2016 le mans winning ford gt. also on display were the clay model they used to sculpt the road car, and a display car where half of it was the racing gt and half of it was the road going gt. insane. the car is just so breathtakingly low and wide, and it just makes you want one that much more.
What a great episode minus the background interference of the music. Love the perspective that magnus gives
The old cars still look fantastic today! I really love the '05 model and would take it in a heartbeat. I'll never be rich enough for the '16+ GT, but it's a beauty as well and a crazy piece of automotive engineering that's street legal. I love them all!
Love Magnus! But someone needs to talk to him about not using the same annotation pattern for every sentence no matter what he’s reading from the script 😅
He's trying to be Top Gear soooo bad.
jesus christ, so right.
@@Youcallthesebagels_ Not me at all. All we would have seen is continuous drifting. Boring as hell and not fast.
So bad it could lead to death if used in a drinking game
Thank you!!! Jesus Christ it's annoying the hell out of me too!
Man this guy reminds me so much about my Peepaw, everytime he's on screen I just need to watch what he has to offer. He was just as much of a nut for old cars like him. He had a beautiful Bel Air, A 73 Corvette, 74 Camaro an Og Fastback mustang, a Shelby Cobra replica, an 87 911 Carrera, A W220 S class, an E39 M5 and an E46 M3. He daily drove an Altima, you couldn't even tell by the looks he owned all those cars, unfortunately he passed last year due to Corona and we had to sell all the cars😭, only the M5 remains in the family and it's with my uncle who drives it on a weekly basis. I love you to heart Old man. I miss those cars a hella lot.
The sound the 05 makes sends chills down your spine...soo good!!!
IMO this is the best of the Big Thing videos yet. The passion shows through without a doubt.
The Chief Designer of the 2000s Ford GT seems like a chill guy to hang out with.
Yeah maybe but he likes to tell everyone how good he is at his job
Three amazing Ford Supercars from the Gen 1 race car to the Gen 2 street version, raced by privateers in Europe to the current Gen 3 ultra beautiful current Ford GT previously raced by Ford Performance and Chip Ganassi Racing. Three extremely special Ford Super Cars at this one location. Different vehicles that accomplished the same goals. Go fast and with gen 1 & 3 win races in some of the most beautiful Supercars ever built. Thanks for the fantastic history of the Ford GT and the ride along with your Great video. Also hats off to the late Carol Shelby for his brilliance in helping develope the Ford GT program leading to Ford's dominance at Lemans in the 60s. For 2022. Ford announced that 1350 Ford GTs were scheduled to be built. As of February 2022. Only 250 copies remain before production closes. .
If you are watching this video, you would enjoy spending a day, or more, at the Peterson Museum in Los Angeles, where these cars came from. It is simply amazing.
Give me a Gen 2 all day. All things being equal, price/availability…. To me, the Gen 2 is as close to the GT40 that won Lemans the first time. It’s got that American BRUT power and sound and I must say… It goes to show that if FORD or Chevy wanted to produce “exotics” they not only could, but they can even do it better than Europe. Just imagine if FORD put all their resources, ingenuity and manufacturing/world beating efficiency into producing cars like the FORD GT/GT40…The 2 times FORD has done this, they’ve beaten the worlds best, pretty handily. As far as Chevy is concerned, look no further than the C6 Vette they ran at Lemans. Win after win after win… The days of Europeans hating on Ford, Chevy and Dodge are long gone folks. Don’t hate, appreciate!
The GT40 program did translate some of it's technology into efficiency in today's cars. The bonded aka glue in windshield. Was done to improve drag to gain more mph on the black straight at Le Man. Today every windshield is glued in with no trimming. I would imagine some technology from the gen 3 also found it's war to street vehicles as well. Racing pushes limits that many times find it's way to the everyday car.
You guys have the best content ever for cars on CZcams. No one compares!
I, finally, realized a life long dream. - Last year in the Spring, I found a pristine GT350 at a local Mercedes dealership. - From the time I opened the door and climbed in. I knew it was MADE for me. - Say what you want about Chevrolet being this or that? - But I'll take this FORD Shelby over a Corvette, all day long. (Odd because now? - I have both 17 Grand Sport) - While the Grand Sport is truly phenomenal on all accounts - the Shelby GT350 just scratches that overall itch for me. - From it's total heart thumping sound, to it's raw driving experience, it's produces a smile even on the worst days! - Thank you for your efforts making this video and sharing it with us! - GREATLY appreciated. - Aesir - NH USA.
As a certifiable Ford nut that bleeds Ford Blue, and proud owner/ driver of both 2005 & 2019 Ford GTs,
I say this is one of the best videos on the subject. Very well done Hagerty, well done indeed. 👍
thats awesome
What a great video, I'm blown away by the sheer love of cars and the wonderful style of filming it, and some next level editing and narration.
I am impressed, and that don't happen often these days..
These Hagerty shows are produced so well! Thanks for keeping us gearheads entertained!
Thank you for producing such quality entertainment for us to watch, truly appreciated!
The Ford GT is my favorite car :D
Also we need to see a Jason Cammisa on the ICONS with the Ford GT I think @Hagerty
mine to ..
The GT was one of my first dream cars
Nice history lesson, Thanx !
I too had a HO scale GT-40 in 1966, well upgraded with magnets & gearing, as well as built a few glue models... Always loved the shape !
these are the stories which will keep the propper motoring alive! Thank you, Magnus and Hagerty!!!! Keep these videos coming!
Wasnt the gt40 first built and designed in Britain somewhere?
What a FANTASTIC episode…
Perfect match with Magnus…
That was a true pleasure, thanks a lot for the work and big salut from France,
ViNZ.
I saw the MKIII in person years ago at the Museum and have a 20x30in picture of it that I hung in my garage. I get to see it daily. ;) Beautiful and so awesome you let it out to play!
This was such a great watch!!! Thank you
The GT presents so much better in person. Its just nutty: so low and industrially built, not a dainty road car it looks positively scary and very substantial, just menacing. Its gorgeous like nothing you see on the road.
Absolutely phenomenal! ... Couldn't have done a better job, thank you!
Great video and glad to see that Magnus accomplished a dream on video for us.
Outstanding production. Thank you so much to bring us that masterpiece Video!
Awesome video. Perfectly done. 2006 sounds fantastic. My pick as well.
One of the best youtube clips ever 😊❤️👍
Amazing footage, story and presentation. This video was something special and engaging to watch.
Magnus, I just know you are a music fan. I've got a couple of years on you, enough to remember swinging London in the '60s. The music scene there was red hot. Among England's premier jazz-rock keyboard players was a wild man named Brian Auger.
I bring him up because he owned a GT40 and used to roar around London in it at all hours. His don't-give-a-damn attitude reminded my of Shelby, Miles, and the others who got this legendary car off the ground. Thank you for bringing this magnificent can, and its constructors, back to life for a new generation,
Thank you hagerty for this "National Automotive" high quality videos.
What an incredible video. I love Magnus and Hagerty
Hagerty's CZcams lineup with video production and personalities is simply better than the competition.
I'm a traveling wind turbine technician, based in Southern California. Since early 2014, I've worked over 6 years (collectively, 3 separate times) at one of the many wind farms just north of Willow Springs Raceway.
For anyone watching this, that isn't as familiar with the area, they look to have been driving on Tehachapi/Willow Springs Rd., for some of the "B roll" video, once they left the track.
That brought back some memories, as I am tapping this out from the middle of Indiana right now.
On a side note... were you to ask Google, what is the biggest wind farm in the United States, it will say Mojave, Ca., which is just a bit north of the Raceway.
Love every content from the big thing but this one was a true GEM
I was honor to be a part in importing and registering '06 tungsten gray to Finland. Lost my heard💗 to it. My dream car.
I love all these Walker Videos
Thank you! This video was awesome! I will not stop dreaming! Thanks for the reminder.
Awesome video, thanks Magnus!
that intro was something else!! dope cars
What an awesome video! Great comparison of all 3 gens.
When are you guys replacing Magnus?
Excellent informative videos, especially on the GT40s. Hagerty is a very good worthy " motor" channel to watch.
Thank you Hagerty and all those that went into making this episode. I agree with the ending statement to this episode… Dreams make life worth living.
Robertson Racing used the Gen2 GT very successfully taking 3rd in Lemans 2011. There's a shop still developing them. It's also the first car to 300mph in the Texas Mile
Just because these feats weren’t factory backed efforts and not covered by Ford Media no one seems to know about brown them.
By the by, there are TWO different 300+ mph standing mile Ford GTs.
M2K Motorsports who went 300.4 mph (@4100 lbs) in the Texas Mile with a Accufab built 5.4 4V making 3200 HP with OEM block and cylinder head castings.
And there’s Johnny Bohmer who went 310 mph in Florida just recently - again with a modified and turbocharged 5.4 4V that came in the car.
one of these best youtube videos
Quite a pleasant surprise. Thanks.
Awesome episode!!!! Great job Hagerty. I’m also enjoying the drive share app
one of the best videos by Magnus! CheeRS my friend.
Bloody legend cheers from Oz
Magnus needs a makeover. I mean damn!
💀 😂
What a video, amazing. Thanks Magnus.
Since going public, the Hagerty marketing must have got a boost! I can’t wait for more!!
You know
I watch a lot of automotive blog channels , with all kinds of personalities and hosts . But no one delivers a story like you Magnus ! So you keep doing your thing , and we will definitely keep enjoying the show… Great job
"Just a bunch of good old boys..." Yep, and the largest budget thrown at a race program until that point. Ford wasn't the underdog, they were the 800lb gorilla.
Ford was still very much the underdog considering before this they had no leman experience
Good ole American revisionist history. 🇺🇸🇺🇸
@@youngdumak true lol
Definitely the most pressure
Ferrari had won the last 6 years at Lemans. Not just won, but completely dominated, with multiple 123 finishes and even a 12345. And remember they weren't racing against amateurs.
To go up against that dominance ANYONE would be the underdog.
Thanks for this great Demonstration
Excellent chapter in the series
Awesome! Thank you
Legendary GT40, so much power no brakes could contain
This was an incredible video!!!
Thank you Magnus and Hagerty, Never stop dreaming, leads to big things🎉
The second generation of the gt40.....the ford gt actually WAS raced. It just wasn't a factory program. I can't remember the guys name who went racing with it but, he had an engineer who went through every nut and bolt of the car in order to maximize its potential. I'm also not sure how well he did but, I have to give him a round of applause for going for it in a car that wasn't sponsored by the ford factory.
Side note=I'm a die hard ford guy and own a 65 mustang coupe with the 289 V8 and auto transmission on the floor. The factory 2 barrel carb was gummed up when I got it so I replaced it with a Holley 2 barrel that flowed better and made more power anyway. Later, I bought an 89 mustang gt "5.0" also known as the fox body mustang and I will say that I LOVE these cars. They are lightweight, cheap(or at least they used to be before the chip shortage), and modifications for them are everywhere.
Liking the new CZcams interface
Excellent video! I'm jealous! I want the Gen 3 in silver with black wheels so bad! Thanks for your videos! 🏁🏁🏁🏁
I never get tired of watching Magnus drive and talk about cars...another great video! 👍
Get Chris Harris!
Awesome video.....thanks guys!!!
Absolutely brilliant!!!!!
Great Episode, Thanks Magnus :)
Wow what a great episode.
More great work from Hagerty
Love to see Magnus presenting this
Loved this episode! ❤❤
Phenomenal content. 👏🏾👏🏾
Camilo Pardo created a masterpiece with the gen 2. All of those years being involved with the GT platform paid off in the form of perfection. Well done Mr. Pardo.. well done indeed.
Fabulous film!
I've always loved the Ford GT's and this is a great video of all three gens!!
Damn that GT90 was so nice, I loved racing that in Need for Speed 2 :D.
The blue-white-red color scheme in 19:53 looks stunning on the GT40 MKIII, better than one plain color and it emphasizes the proportions very well. Love the 2nd Gen GT in a deep black, too.
The MK II is one of the most beautiful cars ever made imo.
This is and incredible video series Hagerty doing it right.
Great video about legendary cars. 👌
Wow, what a dream come true, there’s not many people alive who can say they’ve even seen, yet a lone driven all 3 legends Ford GT’s
That Gen 2 is one of my top 5 dream cars.
What a great video and so cool to see the 3 icons all on track at the same time, and getting to hear the back stories of each and the design concepts behind each was really informative!
I have to say in my opinion that thumbnail 3 shot of the cars is every teenagers dream poster, you know the ones kids like me of a certain age born in the era of muscle cars and exotics 😉had on their walls ! Thank you for shooting this video, really enjoyable!
Awesome cars!
I, too, would take the '06 if I had to choose just one.
Thank you
Magnus, epic as always!
So legendary
gen 2 in black... oh my that is just gorgeous
