Luka is playing like a straight up beast...at the age of 18 he's already putting up godly numbers (20.5 PPG (50% FG & 86% FT), 6.1 RPG, 4.4 APG in 28 MPG) in the 2nd best league in the world and pretty much singlehandedly carrying his team. And don't forget European basketball is played at a much slower tempo, couple that with 10 minute quarters and you rarely get to see a team score 100 points, meaning every statistical category fades in comparison to that of the NBA (for example the best rebounder in the league averages 8.1 RPG, the best assister 7.9 APG)
He also won gold at Eurobasket 2017 with Slovenia (who've never made it to the finals before) and along with Dragič pretty much carried most of the work load and was also named into the 1st team of the tournament.
And I know Dončič is white, and European, and I'm not dismissing any college/high school prospect by saying this but what most people fail to take into account is that he's doing all of this while playing against grown men, veterans (in the Euros against NBA players as well), not against kids his age.
His father, a former basketball player himself also instilled a great work ethic into him from a very young age so if you take his enormous talent into account and couple it with the fact that he's a very hard worker and a great student of the game there's really only one way he can go, and that's up.
Whether he becomes the #1 draft pick or not remains to be seen, at the end of the day the team that gets the #1 pick will choose whoever is a better fit so he can go anywhere from 1st to 4th. Regardless though, one thing's for sure, whichever team ends up drafting him will be getting the real deal.

you seem to have misunderstood me, I never claimed they don't have Serbian roots. After all, stating that their fathers are Serbian should make that clear. What annoyed me was him saying they're Serbian, and that they just play for our national team. There's a difference between saying Luka and Goran have Serbian roots and saying they're Serbian. No one's going to deny their Serbian heritage, atleast no one should since there's no reason to. If anything the only reason we're having this discussion is because of the way he said what he said and made it seem like they're Serbian and not Slovenian and just happen to play for the national team.

Even though NBA players are more athletic, those guys are more smart and technical.NBA talents are all about shooting and running while those guys know the game in a way that wins championships. Their coaches (Obradovic, Ivkovic,Malkovic) came to Greece and gave us nearly 10 European titles while we ve had none before.RESPECT!

All the players you mentioned were members of the Yugoslavian team in 1987 and 1989. Just two players beat them two times repeatedly in 1987 and almost did it again in 1989. Their team at the time had only one player over 210 cm.
Petrovic, who is mentioned as the best European player ever, once said that the one of them was the most talented basketball player he had ever seen.
Ex-Yugoslavians coaches are winners but their footprint is win at all cost, especially by the Malkovic philosophy. Before them basketball was fun, now its business.
Doncic is trully gifted but has severe downsides. He can't cross dribble when he runs, his left hand is not strong enough to lay up and he always attacks from the one side, mostly from the right. He manages to hide it because he can protect the ball with his body and is very athletic.
Well Slovenia is the European Champion. We won, this year, 2018, against all good teams (Example: Serbia, Spain...) So yeah yay us and Yugoslavs i guess. All other teams are good too. BTW love your comment.
