I always get looked at and followed in places. so rude you should not be accusing someone based on how they look unless you actually see them stealing
@lenorraa that happened to me in a Rite Aid. I was waiting for the bus to go to school (so I was wearing a backpack). I grabbed some DVDs from the Halloween section to purchase and got stopped by lp while leaving. I had a ghost beanie baby in my backpack that I bought at that store weeks ago that forgot about. Good thing I also had the receipt. My teacher made me write a report about it, lol. I still have the beanie.
I had that happen when I went to a car dealership. I had just moved to my duty station and only had 3 outfits because the rest was being shipped in. The workers ignored me but 1 he was an elderly car sales guy he didn’t judge how I was dressed so i purchased not only 1 but 2 vehicles through him and he was promoted. His name was Mike. He gave the best customer service Iv ever had. He treated me like a person. The second time I came there the people knew who I was at that point. But I walked passed them to go directly to Mike while in uniform the second time i purchased the 2nd vehicle in cash. Still to this day he made a big impact on me because of his kindness
When I bought my first car a friend took me to several used car places. I had 2k in cash and couldn't do payments. First place we went the guy was a gem. Took me on my test drive and. Chatted about my classes (trade school, I was 22), about my kids and how I'm working 2 jobs to support them alone. We left and tested several more cars elsewhere, but they all looked at me like I was a dumb kid and talked down to me. When I went back to the first place to get the first car I tried (electric blue 98ish Suzuki esteem 80k miles) he met me in the lot saying "I was hoping you would be back! I got the owner to drop it to 1200 out the door for you!" It was 1900 when we had been through. That dude told me to spend the rest on something fun for my kids. I cried the whole way home, no one had ever treated me with such kindness. I didn't know until I opened the glove compartment the next morning, he left 2 little stuffed bears and some coloring books and crayons in there for them. Tucked in one was a gift card to Mc Donald's gift card. It's been almost 16 years since then, and the kids are grown now. I still think of that guys kindness and smile.
Sephora is the worst. I literally purchased a pair of false eyelashes for my little sister for her bday present. I sat her down and put them on her eyes and while doing so- an associate came and asked me if we needed help applying, i nicely say “we’re good, thanks!”. Then she says “You have to purchase those first you can’t just take them.” Accusing us of stealing… IT WAS THE SAME EMPLOYEE THAT CHECKED US OUT!… not even 2 minutes prior! We were her most recent/last sale as well in a non busy store?!
@@jenya6589 I gave her an offended + weird look! Same. This happened to me at an Ulta. I work with kids in a daycare so I can't dress fancy. I popped in after work and while i wasn't accused of stealing i overheard two employees saying that I was way too plain looking to waste my time looking for makeup when it obviously wasn't working for me. I don't wear makeup when I work, so i didn't have any on that day, but nevertheless it hurt like hell to overhear that.
Every single time i go to Sephora i got one of the securities following me around. I just dress normal and usually dont wear makeup. And this happens in multiple countries
This really is true. And on some level, I get it, I walk in to a fancy store with my oversized hoodie mismatched socks, and jeans I look a little suspicious, but I hate when they follow me around the entire store like I’m gonna steal something. It’s sooo obvious. Like I had one of the retail workers (not a fancy story, and it was literally Walmart) move all the way across the store when she saw me to lean on a checkout stall, that was right next to mine. She kept pretending to stretch and yawn, and was just sitting there, glancing at my cart every couple seconds. 😂
I had someone follow me when I was wearing skin tight leggings and a ripped tank top. I had my debit card in my hand. No pockets or anywhere to hide, but they followed me around until I asked them where did they think I was gonna be stealing, was I gonna shove it in my armpits?
As someone who worked in high end retail, our usual stealers would be in groups. At least two people. Rarely anyone worked alone. And we had families and teenagers as most common suspects. We had even grannies. But I also acknowledge that might be just that store. Btw they dressed as common as everyone else (here I mean they were following trends to some degree, fast fashion). Maybe even more trendy. People that look broke usually dont suffer for expensive brands.
I always get treated that way. Mostly because I look a lot younger than I actually am. Then to hear them be overly nice to other people come into the store but not say one word to me really pisses me off.
Tbf when people have their hoods up I get told to keep an eye on them, or if they’re really talkative or looking around a lot. Even if they don’t steal something, the charity shop I work in has to be cautious since we don’t have an alarm system or anything..
I work customer care for a designer company not going to mention which. They're high-end luxury and yeah I've had to deal with this. When I first came out of training I had a client who was African-American call in about how she was treated in a boutique. I was horrified on top of that this young girl was looking for a bag for interview processes because she had just graduated law school. Boutique mistreated her due to the fact that she was wearing sweats. I immediately had to raise it up to corporate and this was a big deal. I felt so bad for her. I apologized to her. I spoke with her and empathized with her and we got the situation taken care of. Never treat people wrong just because they're not wearing all designer. Clothes doesn't mean that they can't afford designer items. Understand the lookout for theft but there's a difference between being aware that something's being stolen and just flat out misjudging people
That reninded me when me and my cousins went into apple's store to check out the ipads, we saw kids drawing on the ipads and i decided to try that out as well (as an artist) however when the employee took a glance on me they quickly told me that i wasn't allowed to touch displays even though the kids right next to me were, never shopped there again
This is how I feel most of the time walking into Sephora. I get anxious and often just want to be left alone, and if I have a question I will seek someone out if I need to. Sometimes I'll have 3 different associates walk upto me like "do you need anything?" in a busy store. Like please...I just want to find what I need in peace without having to explain myself, be upsold, or feel like a criminal for using a sample. God forbid someone is just browsing to kill time 💀
Omg this is me. I wear hoodies everywhere cause I run cold and it's so comfortable but I also like buying designer things for my family as gifts. No one helps me, everyone gives me attitude, everyone stares and follows me. When I buy a bag everyone is so shocked and surprised and feel embarrassed. It's so odd that we judge based of what ppl wear like who cares. I thrift only for myself but for others I buy designer
let me tell ya… i worked for a luxury bag store and we try our best not to but we always have to trust our gut a lady came in late one night had damaged dyed purple hair, wore leggings, and a sweatshirt and immediately we were a bit suspicious cause she paced around bouncing and asked for us to look for items we did not have in the back she then grabbed clothes (didn’t try them) and a lot of bags and we kept just being friendly like oh do u need help or anything and she was friendly back saying she’s looking for her mom and brother and then paced around the door while i stood there she stole like 5 bags and 5 outfits
i was once at an ulta(IN FRONT OF THE CHASHIERS) and was checking out mascara and was torn between red or purple. The employee went to check on me ,after watching me the whole time and i was like "Oh im fine just figuring out which color i wanted" then 1min later i bought what i picked out(purple) and the cashier was the same guy
Normally when store ppl act the first way with me there always somebody else stealing in the store and iv saw it . Iv never stolen but if u wanna follow me imma keep u distracted cause im such a petty person.....
This happens to me every single store I go in. It doesn’t really matter what I’m wearing. The ppl think they’re slick while they magically appear in every aisle I’m in and then magically are at the front when I’m trying to check out. It’s sad bc I’m not a thief. I don’t steal. I just don’t believe in it. But while they’re busy watching me I can guarantee that store is being hit hard by someone they wouldn’t suspect due to their clothing.
😂😂😂😂 I'm covered in tattoos and I look out of place where my mother-in-law shops, so she takes me with her to get quick service cuz they're afraid I'm going to steal some s***
Omg I usually go looking bum but always buy everything that I need & yes Someone look at you up & down but no worries at the end of the day you know what you got ❤🎉
This is so real. I am a student and the other day I went to a supermarket with my friends and the cashier made us live our backpacks with her while every other client in there had purse or a backpack.
As someone with social anxiety who is also high-functioning autistic, and gets overwhelmed and overstimulated easily, just being in those kinds of stores alone would be my kryptonite. Like let me shop in piece without staring bro, so what if I'm in jeans and a slightly faded hoodie. I am COMFORTABLE.
I went to the gucci shop in my dressing gown pjs and slippers didnt even brush my hair and got a wallet coz mine got stolen and i was to pissed off to care what i looked like i just needed a wallet 😂
So true 😂. I do not recommend the ending 🤭. I treated everyone the same because those who are nicely dressed are the ones that do most of the stealing, and I hated it.
used to work in sales, the rich people actually dress in high quality sweats and smart watches and look like random passerbys if you are not into branded fitness wear
So true! My friend and I went to the outlets with money to burn on new bags but we were mid road trip and had on no makeup and sweats and everyone treated us like gutter trash it was hilarious. We laughed the whole time. We save up for trips so yeah we aren't filthy rich but don't judge people.
never judge a book by its cover people. A lot of times, the more 'rich' they make themselves look, the more likely they are to steal. The 'poor' looking people (casual clothes etc) are the richest most of the time.
I get similar treatment at jewelry stores. I go in to get my (admittedly expensive) wedding band cleaned and am ignored because i look alt. And i know its because of that because i wasnt trested that way when i dressed "normal"
My dad experienced this at a car dealership. Bro wanted to get a car and I forgot what brand and they refused service when he wanted to check and test drive one. He walked to the opposite car dealership and bought a big car on the spot. Bro dressed casually coz that’s who and how he is(and how I am). I don’t like dressing fancy at all and gets treated that way
Facts I went to the Micheal Kors with my friend to buy a bag for my mom and the second I walked in the lady there was just following me around and standing real close to me I turned to her and was like I’m buying something back off maybe it’s because I’m young (22) but it just gave me icky vibes like what the fuck
This is true I went in jeans and all causal they looked at me weirdly following me asking if I want anything or some instructions to city store locations uk then some other time I go in with Converse and such and they be like haiyaaa how can I help u I suggest this bag it's so lovely ofc they looked I wear casual converse and suggested most expensive black bag for all situations 🙂
Lmao sadly this is very true.. I tend to look like a bum sometimes, but my kids are always super put together, nice clothes etc. so idc if I look like shit sometimes lol that’s just mom life. and other than my usual stores where I know the employees, this is exactly how I’m treated a lot of the time 🙄 but jokes on them bc I coulda swiped the whole damn store looking bummy or nice if I wanted to 😂 they’re lucky I’m a changed mother now!! 😂🖕
When i worked at spirit Halloween the only people i suspected of stealing were people i seen clearly grabbing things and putting them in their pockets. I wasn't allowed to say anything to them, i told the manager though. We aren't allowed to even acknowledge the theifs, just report, yet for some reason, we always got in trouble if people stole as if we could stop it.
For some reason every time I go shop at a store employees ALWAYS think I’m stealing. I’ve been followed, even yelled at by loss and prevention on the loud speaker, and always asked if I need help multiple times but not in a “kind” way. one time they even set off a shop lifting system that trapped people in the aisles and I was the only one there but they stopped it halfway cause I set down whatever I was looking at. I’m not even sure what it is, it could sometimes be racism but at the same time it might be cause I take a long time to make decisions? I feel like I don’t dress visibly “broke” but also don’t look rich so idk
Me and a friend went out to the outlet mall.. (specifically the expensive side) and the lady’s looked at me like I was gonna steal something. Like I was actually interested in men’s cologne. (I am a 17 year old girl)
I am a boy who dresses goth and sometimes in « girls » clothes. One time I went to an expensive shop just to look around waiting for my friends when a girl came to me saying that stuff like: here were « too much » for a freak like me, you should go look somewhere else… » The thing is I was sitting on the ground watching the bags who were low, when I got up (I’m 1,84) I looked right at her, pulled out my cash (around 500€) and said: see this money ? Well guess it isn’t going to your shop anymore, sad I actually liked this bag, bye I guess you don’t want a rich freak like me here » and i went to talk to one of her colleagues then while laughing and smiling I got out the shop
Happened to me i once went casual dress to a mall with husband and suddenly realised i would like to know / buy accessories for my michael kors hand bag if they had any. I wasnt carrying mybag in person..i entered the store and the assistant are pretty much ignoring and focusing on the women in front of me she was well dressed.. I waited patiently for my turn. More than 2 people were helping her out and even looked at me with a side eye that i might leave if someone wont assist. After a while they did attend i asked about accessories sadly they didnt had any but..i certainly would have bought right away if they had. And the women ahead of me didnt buy anything as well Waste of time!
I told a mate I'd buy him a last minute birthday dinner... but was in work so he said he'd book it. When I got there the cheeky git had booked a super expensive, fancy restaurant. I was coming from work at a tech company, the standard work wear was hoodie and jeans. I was so embarrassed when I arrived looking so scruffy... I expressed concern to the host, who told me everyone would assume I was super rich because I didn't find the restaurant impressive enough to bother dressing up 😂
this happened to me nd my friend the other day at a random store, she wasso on r backs we left uncomfortable, tho we really liked a jacket dere myt evn hav got it
Happened to me when I went to a new hair salon to buy a product, they didn’t have what I wanted but recommended something similar. I asked to have a look at it and the lady told me “it is probably out of your price range”. I have been battling alopecia and had my hoodie up to hide my shame. I just wanted something to make me feel prettier. People can be so cruel.
I was trying to buy a pc tower and this guy told me the towers were out of my budget. 😭 I was dressed bummy because I was being lazy but I had more than enough on me..
Had a worker who was very aggressive about this at Ulta. She followed us around the store, talking on her walkee about how it’s so stupid to steal. And I had no idea so I’m thinking to myself, “yeah idk why anyone would risk shoplifting”. Then i realized she was going around to every other worker in the store and talking shit about us, pointing, and straight up spreading lies. Ended up confronting her about it and offering to dump out my bag to prove I wasn’t stealing anything and she wouldn’t admit anything, look at all in the direction of my bag, or call security. I get that there’s certain things they’re not legally allowed to do, like search a bag ig, but don’t be that obnoxious about it then.
Everyone in retail should know that everyone has potential to steal…however a lot of the time the person that is stealing is dressed nice and even talks to staff. Source: Been there done that ex LP
This happened to me while i was looking at makeup with my sister, the guard was literally following us and staring at me, not my fault i dress like a drug dealer
I don’t think it’s completely true. I went to goyard set on buying a bag but i looked soooo bad 😂😂 but the sales knew immediately I came in with a goal and was super helpful! I’ve gone into other stores with my Hermes bag and sales can tell I wasn’t there to buy anything and didn’t pay too much attention
I went to central park restuarant once and was not allowed in because of my outfit . I dont know why. I dont think the prices were expensive, just typical restaurant prices???.. just my outfit wasn't perceived well by the youngish girl. i was stereotyped and judged. Same with going to the goodwill in NYC. They had security guard there treating me like a criminal, checking my backpacks and everything. after that, i vowed never to go to the thrift store in the city again.. plus its far from suburbia and even more expensive 😒 Im not a criminal, lol. My car is run down, my clothes are thrifted now, and so i look broke, well i dont make much but im certainly not broke trying to look rich 😒
real. stereotypes go crazy these days.

Dhar mann be like:
lmaooo
There is no way the one looks more broke then the other 😂😂
let me tell ya… i worked for a luxury bag store and we try our best not to but we always have to trust our gut
a lady came in late one night had damaged dyed purple hair, wore leggings, and a sweatshirt and immediately we were a bit suspicious cause she paced around bouncing and asked for us to look for items we did not have in the back
she then grabbed clothes (didn’t try them) and a lot of bags and we kept just being friendly like oh do u need help or anything and she was friendly back saying she’s looking for her mom and brother and then paced around the door while i stood there
she stole like 5 bags and 5 outfits
I feel like I’m always dressed down when I go into designer stores 😂
i was once at an ulta(IN FRONT OF THE CHASHIERS) and was checking out mascara and was torn between red or purple. The employee went to check on me ,after watching me the whole time and i was like "Oh im fine just figuring out which color i wanted" then 1min later i bought what i picked out(purple) and the cashier was the same guy
The rougher I look, the more fun I have buying nice things! It weirds people out and I love that!😂
Normally when store ppl act the first way with me there always somebody else stealing in the store and iv saw it .
That's... Dressed rich? Ok.. 😂
Rich? That outfit giving Fashion Nova.
My whole family are poor but we still have a 3 bedroom home
The fact thet you recoreded this in public is wild.
Omg I usually go looking bum but always buy everything that I need & yes
Someone look at you up & down but no worries at the end of the day you know what you got ❤🎉
They both look like they are broke though
this is so true in the us
Haven’t you learnt from Pretty Woman?
This is so real. I am a student and the other day I went to a supermarket with my friends and the cashier made us live our backpacks with her while every other client in there had purse or a backpack.
As someone with social anxiety who is also high-functioning autistic, and gets overwhelmed and overstimulated easily, just being in those kinds of stores alone would be my kryptonite. Like let me shop in piece without staring bro, so what if I'm in jeans and a slightly faded hoodie. I am COMFORTABLE.
Sephora does this and its actually sickening
Can’t even shop in peace anymore in Sephora
I went to the gucci shop in my dressing gown pjs and slippers didnt even brush my hair and got a wallet coz mine got stolen and i was to pissed off to care what i looked like i just needed a wallet 😂
So true 😂. I do not recommend the ending 🤭.
I treated everyone the same because those who are nicely dressed are the ones that do most of the stealing, and I hated it.
literally that movie with julia roberts
Walked into a store once looked nice but had a hood on and instanly litterally the second i walked in the lady asked if i needed help ....
It's all about hoodie covering your face
Literally what I was thinking.
Especially the Jeans and shoes 😂
used to work in sales, the rich people actually dress in high quality sweats and smart watches and look like random passerbys if you are not into branded fitness wear
So true! My friend and I went to the outlets with money to burn on new bags but we were mid road trip and had on no makeup and sweats and everyone treated us like gutter trash it was hilarious. We laughed the whole time. We save up for trips so yeah we aren't filthy rich but don't judge people.
Okay but who goes around in a hood
Lots of people who don't want to be in public or bothered
Me when i get anxious around strangers. It's comforting for me
Me
Me because my hair is a mess and won't cooperate with me 💀💀💀
I wear a hood most of the time cause I don’t want to be in public or bothered but had to go out and get stuff
never judge a book by its cover people.
A lot of times, the more 'rich' they make themselves look, the more likely they are to steal.
The 'poor' looking people (casual clothes etc) are the richest most of the time.
Swear so sad but true. Let me go into the store on a bad day and instantly profiled😅
While they're following the "poor people " around and watching their every move, the "rich people" are robbing them blind 🤣🤣🤣
Honestly most of the rich people in my country go to fancy restaurants in expensive pajamas and a hoodie plus boots
all dharman videos be like:
I thought i look broke when a was there but no one was like that
This is exactly y I don't go to places like this lol well really technically I guess it's my self esteem...I don't even go in to ulta😅💀
The cake though. 😋🤤
Usually, the ones not dressed nice are the rich ones lol 😂
I've gone into a place in sweats and a baggy shirt and spent $1000...
Fuck your stereotypes 😂😂
Rich people never make it obvious they are rich
I get similar treatment at jewelry stores. I go in to get my (admittedly expensive) wedding band cleaned and am ignored because i look alt. And i know its because of that because i wasnt trested that way when i dressed "normal"
Never judge a book by its cover 😂
To be fair , it happens everywhere, including workplaces ...
That's when you ignore them
Lmao sadly this is very true.. 😂🖕
I can't wait to get someone fired that way 😂
When i worked at spirit Halloween the only people i suspected of stealing were people i seen clearly grabbing things and putting them in their pockets.
Them jeans are wearing her…GOD DAMN!
One time I went to an expensive shop just to look around waiting for my friends when a girl came to me saying that stuff like: here were « too much » for a freak like me, you should go look somewhere else… »
The thing is I was sitting on the ground watching the bags who were low, when I got up (I’m 1,84) I looked right at her, pulled out my cash (around 500€) and said: see this money ? Well guess it isn’t going to your shop anymore, sad I actually liked this bag, bye I guess you don’t want a rich freak like me here » and i went to talk to one of her colleagues then while laughing and smiling I got out the shop
That worker needs to get fired💀
Happened to me i once went casual dress to a mall with husband and suddenly realised i would like to know / buy accessories for my michael kors hand bag if they had any. I wasnt carrying mybag in person..i entered the store and the assistant are pretty much ignoring and focusing on the women in front of me she was well dressed.. I waited patiently for my turn. More than 2 people were helping her out and even looked at me with a side eye that i might leave if someone wont assist.
After a while they did attend i asked about accessories sadly they didnt had any but..i certainly would have bought right away if they had.
And the women ahead of me didnt buy anything as well
Waste of time!
I expressed concern to the host, who told me everyone would assume I was super rich because I didn't find the restaurant impressive enough to bother dressing up 😂
Dont gudge a book by its cover. Looka at adam sandler❤
idk what gudging is but you're right don't _judge_ a book by its cover
this happened to me nd my friend the other day at a random store, she wasso on r backs we left uncomfortable, tho we really liked a jacket dere myt evn hav got it
Happened to me when I went to a new hair salon to buy a product, they didn’t have what I wanted but recommended something similar. I asked to have a look at it and the lady told me “it is probably out of your price range”.
I have been battling alopecia and had my hoodie up to hide my shame. I just wanted something to make me feel prettier. People can be so cruel.
How crazy I dress just like the first girl and I was treated exactly like that....
I was trying to buy a pc tower and this guy told me the towers were out of my budget. 😭 I was dressed bummy because I was being lazy but I had more than enough on me..
Honestly, the second girl looks way more cheap than the first one
Happened to me lady was so rude i asked for another lady i walked out with red bottoms that day with a smile and the rude associate 😱
I have never been in a luxury store and im kinda scared. Like dont they harass people, do you have to look a certain way, etc etc
See, I would have said, "Funny yesterday when I was here, you had no interest in anything but harrasing me" and gave the sale to someone else.
had it done to me at primark....
I also can dress like a bum sometimes and i definitely spend way too much money 😂
Don't judge on appearance
Is that "dressing like rich?" The hell!?
Like Pretty Woman all over again lol
I don’t think it’s completely true. I went to goyard set on buying a bag but i looked soooo bad 😂😂 but the sales knew immediately I came in with a goal and was super helpful! I’ve gone into other stores with my Hermes bag and sales can tell I wasn’t there to buy anything and didn’t pay too much attention
The broker they dress the richer they are
Most celebrities and rich ppl dress broke btw💀
I dress casual and poor all the time in stores.
Because I am poor.
They had security guard there treating me like a criminal, checking my backpacks and everything. after that, i vowed never to go to the thrift store in the city again.. plus its far from suburbia and even more expensive 😒
Im not a criminal, lol. My car is run down, my clothes are thrifted now, and so i look broke, well i dont make much but im certainly not broke trying to look rich 😒
U call that dressed rich? Lmfao
all outfits are of the same caliber lol
Mfw that hoodie was three hundred dollars
And Google was made on my mom's birthday
I just think if your hood was down it would be better
I mean...who wears their hoods inside a store? Usually shady people do.
If u r cold
me when i'm in social anxiety turtle mode and don't want to go out in public but I have to anyway
I want my hood up to keep the light out tod my eyes because of migraines and wear oversized hoodies because I don't want people staring at me
Unless there is a law the states no hoods in the store I’ll continue to wear one.
When my hair not done all the time 😂😂😂
