    I’m knitting along and loving how it’s looking! If I do the back neckline with the alternative decrease method, would that change the way I have to do the ribbing later? And if so, can you kind of summarize what that would be? Thank you, love the pattern and that you walk through alternatives!

    • @mena_makes
      @mena_makes  Pƙed 3 lety +1

      Heya, that’s great to hear it’s going well 🙃 it won’t affect the method at all, possibly the total number of stitches picked up might change but that doesn’t matter as long as it’s divisible by 4!

    On the video you said we should bind off on the purl row
    Then a written comment appeared on the top of video that you should bind off on the knit row
    I am confused

    Hi Mena- I am so confused about the neckline (back) I have knit to the middle six stitches and then tried to follow instructions from there but I guess I messed up. So I take the right side stitches off onto another needle while I work on the left side of the 6 stitch bindoff?

    Hi! So I'm at the 16 minute mark of the knit vest tutorial part 2 and just bound off the 2nd side of the back. Your video says you don't have footage of 'finishing' the back so do I go straight to joining the straps together or is there something else to do 1st on the back?

    Hi Mena! I’m following the pattern for the blue vest. How many rows do I have to knit in stockinette after knitting the 16 rows for the armhole?
    Hope you can answer, thank you so much 😊

    • @mena_makes
      @mena_makes  Pƙed 3 lety

      Sorry for the very late reply! I think you mean after placing half the stitches on the scrap yarn? In that case you knit another 44 rows (decreasing 22 stitches) and then another 6 rows with no decrease and bind off. Hope that answers your question!

    • @ami-bt5zs
      @ami-bt5zs Pƙed 2 lety

      Hello, I'm following the same. I've noticed for the front side we did a total of 130 rows for the blue vest and I'm guessing we need to add same number of rows for the backside. Like after 16 sts decreases for the armhole, we knit either 42 rows or 44 (same as front) and then afterwards do the neckline shaping till we have 21 sts for both left and right strap.

  • @brothebys
    @brothebys Pƙed 2 lety

    Hi!
    I'm doing the 2nd neckline method since you said you think it'd be neater but I'm wondering why do you bind off 26 stitches and then decrease 5 on either side?
    I casted on 74 stitches instead of 90 on both the front and back, decreased the 16 stitches for the sides on both, but on the front I decreased the neck 20 to match the 19 stitches for the straps you have.
    I have 58 stitches now and have no clue how to divide them!
    I dont know what I'm doing with my numbers to be honest! I only measured waist and bust and adjusted the cast on but honestly just hoping for the best!

    • @mena_makes
      @mena_makes  Pƙed 2 lety

      Hey sorry for the late reply. I chose those numbers because I thought it would give a good shape. If you do a similar ratio to that I think it will work out. Perhaps bind off 20 in the middle and decrease 4 on each side? Good luck! (:

    • @brothebys
      @brothebys Pƙed 2 lety

      @@mena_makes Hi I'm sorry for the late reply too, but I realized I couldn't divide it evenly and have decreases with my straps, so i decided to just bind off the whole row. however my friend was able to put it on and it fit her, now im on your third video about it!

    • @eriickaugusto474
      @eriickaugusto474 Pƙed rokem

      i believe that because the stitches are picked up from a bind off in knitted... might be needed to knit a first row in knit for making it uniformed

    • @mena_makes
      @mena_makes  Pƙed rokem

      I think the holes appeared because I was using needles larger than the recommended size for the yarn. Let me know though if you try a row of knits first how that looks!

    when u finished shaping the neckline on the right im confused how did u add another row if u binded off on the next purl row? if on the left neckline u knit 1 row, purl 1 row then bind off is it not the same if you purl 1 row, knit 1 row then bind off on the right side? also thank u for sharing the pattern!!

    • @mena_makes
      @mena_makes  Pƙed 3 lety +1

      I can't remember exactly my logic behind this.. đŸ€” I think it's because when I was setting up the row, I actually knit 1 row (before binding off the centre stitches) on the right side but not the left.. does that make sense?

    • @mena_makes
      @mena_makes  Pƙed 3 lety +1

      Doing the duplicate stitch ensures you have the right stitch count, also it looks neater as well but yeah you could do it without creating the extra stitch. I didn’t do it for the blue vest & it was ok. I can’t exactly remember how it affected the stitch count because I was experimenting a bit with that vest but nothing bad happened. Hope this helps!
