- This LEGO Star Wars Separatist (Clone Wars) MTT is a beautiful model from Republic Bricks! The set includes 20 battle Droids to deploy into battle and adorns the epic Blue/Gray color scheme from Star Wars: The Clone Wars! For $500 you may expect perfection but I did not experience that. There were multiple design flaws that I was able to fix and you can easily fix too. Is this Clone Wars MTT the best looking Republic Bricks set yet?

Well for my two cents, I have always held it in firm belief that trading stability for appearance is not a good sacrifice. When I make mocs, (and I do so quite a lot) I tend to follow Lego's own style, by implementing as much detail as I can, while still maintaining fundamental stability and functionality. When you don't do that, you more often than not get models like this, where they're great until you want to actually hold them, then they crumble in your hands.

True most of the time. Some great builders out there use some crazy techniques and keep stability. There just aren't many of them.

I think the fact that YOU had to add a lot of your own bricks to make the set good, shows that its not worth $500
Republic bricks is a shitty company run by an absolute prick of a person. Absolutely not worth buying from him.
I once ordered 25 of those 2$ Star Wars figures from him. Order said I was gonna get an email with tracking within 7 days. After almost a month I sent an email. No response. When a full month had passed I dm;ed him on instagram. At that point I didn't get a response but I did get my money back. I really can't recommend buying from them with an experience like that.

call me broke but i wouldn’t be willing to pay even 250$ considering all the flaws( used/dirty/damaged pieces, missing pieces , design flaws, etc.)

@@BARDOWNSKIS its more expensive than lego would charge for a set and its full of design flaws and quality issues. were still paying an insane premium and receiving a worse quality product. it needs to be better for such a demanding price. in its current state i would value what was delivered a 250$ i’m not saying 300 is what they should charge i’m saying that price represents the poor quality that was delivered. dont need price reduction, just need improvement for the price.

You nailed it with the underpromising thing. Almost every single one of these reviews has an issue like the parts not being new, and there is ALWAYS some sort of excuse in the comments. Like the sets are great, I love them. But dude needs to stop making claims like 99% of the parts are new.

I bloody agree with you on that. It’s funny how RB tries so hard to justify his pathetic price on his sets by saying, “ Fees, designer labor, sales tax, import tax, etc…” Like who gives a fuck about that.

The fact that they don't build it with actual pieces before selling it is a massive problem and I think most of the issues would be resolved if they tested the build properly before selling it. I mean hell, before they start selling it they should just send a prototype to you and then you can just do a review for the prototype and then it's kind of like advertising for the next new model they're releasing.
I do think it’s bad of them to not put more care into the instructions, and not to build the model to test it.
I design MOCs, and spend hours making the instructions so they’re clear to follow. And whilst I don’t have the parts to build an entire MOC, I do build each section individually to make sure it actually functions. Paying especially close attention anywhere where something needs to move.
Some of the flaws in this model are inexcusable.
Especially at the price of $500 when you can get i genuine MTT for up to $200 on brick link.
Can I ask why you don’t fully build out the moc? Like I understand you might not have all the parts but if you plan to sell them you’ll need the parts eventually so why not just get them to test it.
It’s sad really how can they not build it to test it! That’s why I’ll never get a republicbricks custom. Imagine the headache for other’s who bought this✌🏻

There is so much issues with this set, they didn't built it once and they sell it for 500$ without checking if there is issues, just like that? Oh my god, they really need to improve on that...
I can understand the price point, but Timmy's got to make it perfect. Sure he said that the issues have been resolved, but he also said that the parts were 99% complete, and they weren't. If he was going to screw up so bad on a set that was being reviewed in front of thousands of people, how am I going to trust he'll make it perfect for me?
he wont, most sets he sends out are missing pieces and the price point is 3-4x the value of the parts cost. 75% of the price is profit for him, MOC's do not cost this much to make.

It's a great looking model so the reason you'd pay so much is for the work it took to put it together. People can easily justify the purchase of it
In my experience, most new lego brick will look scratched right out of the bag if you look closely. They’ve been dropped into bins, moved around, taken out, put in bags, stuffed in boxes which have then been stacked and shipped by trucks before being put on shelves and finally brought home by you. Pretty much any time they are moved they will grind against each other and form micro abrasions. Of course with a real set you have the option of requesting a replacement part if you think the piece is damaged beyond what’s reasonable.
Ive seen some scratched but its very very rare, especially to a level like shown in this video, its clearly been used for years. Also, theres like 4 different shades of blue ans 3 shades of grey it looks really bad and disappointing
@@Fives179 i think it honestly depends, if you get bulk pieces or pick a brick per say generally a fair few will be pretty scuffed because they usually sit in a container or bucket until they run out, whereas set pieces are all new, idk how the lego team does it but they somehow keep set bricks in perfect condition but not seperate pieces
I found a damaged piece in a speed champions set, it was a card handle holder that was dented

Personally I prefer the businesses who design the MOC then sell you a parts list and instructions. This really gives the vibe of ripping people off even if they aren’t

That's mostly because the 2014 one SUCKED lol. It was so bad. Like, if that was the only MTT they ever made, it'd be fine, but going from 16 droids to *6* ? What were they thinking? Even the droid carrier for $40 that year carried more droids than that!
Funny enough, LEGO fans care more about LEGO than LEGO themselves

I've always wanted a UCS MTT. It'd have to be big couse they carried a lot more than just 8 droids. An infantry carrier that transports only 8 droids doesn't even make much sense.
They should include two droideka for the back cargo hold. Maybe even the kind from the 2007 MTT 😳😳

Meanwhile Brickvault doesn't even sell the actual set but build tests each and every model to ensure the instructions themselves are absolutely perfect. If they sold the parts WITH instructions, I might buy a few.

With the ball turrets, looks like you were intended to push them in, one into the turret, and one into one of the four cutouts in the front section to keep it in place.
This custom model looks incredible! But how did the designer oversee the extremely obvious flaws?? I wouldn't doubt the designer put a lot of thought into this model, but the problems with the back door and long arm that comes out... Sure you could easily modify this set to fix these issues, but come. Still a beautiful looking model.
I'm sure you've considered this but it would be cool to have a timelapse of the build process while you take your time to explain things like the piece conditions and the price points! Great video!

A lot of those scratched pieces may be brand new from LEGO's Bricks and Pieces service. I've had a lot of issues with them sending damaged parts.
this might sound weird, but out of curiosity, because I've only recently gotten into Custom lego stuff, how would I go about doing say this MTT but make it look like its been hit by a gun run from a LAATI and is on fire (without obviously resorting to what I've seen some people say they've used, which is a lighter)? Are there long "curling" fire bricks I could use along with black blocks and plates for this to imply deep penetrating hits that have burning components beneath?
To help make pieces look new separate them from others and use a small butane torch on a low setting and do a quick pass or 2 with it and it will make them look close to knew and get rid of any discoloration.
I would love a clone was style MTT with super battle droids
I know having it fresh looks nice but having a used look is awesome and fits the worn style of Star Wars
Seems like it should fit more battle droids for how big it is and the fact that in universe it can fit a 112 battle droids
I wish there was a up-to-scale version of a supertank (about the same size as the model in the video)

I’ve always been a fan of the brown trade federation MTT, I would love to have this design set but in the brown. That would be amazing.
I think if Lego made this and the pieces were new, mandr would be a lot more critical
I will add my personal thoughts on this set, as of me writing this comment RepublicBricks put this set on sale for $400, but honestly it's still not worth it given the flaws you have mentioned in the video. If you had to fix so much of this set, it definitely is a deal-breaker seeing how some functions are really unstable. If I were to spend $300+ on a set, I expect a really pleasant experience building it, along with a stable set.
I personally was really debating on getting this, but in the end I just don't see the justification in paying that much for such a flawed design. It really does look nice though, and I agree it is definitely a set for display purposes only. I'd probably wait it out and buy it if they decide to fix the issues.

I don't think that price is bad for all new parts. I do think it's pretty high for used parts. I think he has an awesome idea for a business. He just really needs to step up on quality control.
Really really like this set. If lego really made it I'd definitely buy it. Wish they did more professionally and accurately done star wars sets. (I know that ucs and mbs sets exist but they're mostly super expensive and more specific and popular based star wars things like the death star or the falcon)

This is a dream LEGO set if LEGO ever realizes they should make it, the money they would make would be incredible!
The door might not have caught as easy if you didn't have to add that row so the teeth could catch. They do a great job with these designs for the most part but you'd think they'd build them at least once to see what all works and doesn't work and to make sure the instructions work out and aren't confusing.
I look at these as a starting point for models someone might want but doesnt have the time or ability to do it themselves. U can always mod it and make it work. Im just not the type to buy someone else's design. But if i did, i wouldn't mind this

The 4x4 plate will work if you put it at the correct angle when you click it into place
Custom sets are pretty poggers.
Seems good but I think if they built their models and kind of play tested them before sending them out and stuff it would go a long way.

My main reason for this is that i actually contacted RepublicBricks, apperently the flaws you mentioned were fixed so maybe it might be worth it once I recieve one?

Yo Ryan. I saw a reddit post that believes that there will be a dark trooper battle pack in 2022 because the royal guards in snokes throne room lead too the battle pack and the same with the blue couruscant guards on the speeder from 2010 lead to a battle back! do you think this is true?
