My first punk rock album I bought as a teenager was when the Buzzcocks came out with the "Singles going Steady" album and I never stopped being a fan since. They are awesome!
this is on a video/dvd called "buzzcocks-live legends" recorded in nottingham central tv studios....14th december '89, the last gig on their first tour in 8 & a half years.
This is an amazingly timeless, infectious punk-pop tune with a Carribean beat/ reggae riff, a relaxed, albeit angular groove, lyrically approaching punk angst with singer Pete Shelley's narrative inching palpably closer to his desire. The beauty of this performance is that it is in real time, an approximation of a loop as the drums and bass lock into a groove that is humanly imperfect in the pre-drum machine sound of 1978. Listen and enjoy!
Yes, that's how I got to hear this song. I bought so many records as a result of that film - I'd have saved myself a fortune if they'd released a soundtrack...
@gbthecoach YEAH, i saw a show in the late 80's and recorded it on my walkman. Too bad it came out bad, technically and sound-wise. They were sick from over-tour-ing (mgr pushed them too hard), i had a broken bone, and pete apologized "this is the tour of the talking wounded." But..., i still am glad I got to see them play. Just Fab! Love to see them again, esp in this day and age, now that technology has caught up to their sound. Rock on, boys.
This has always been one of my favorite songs. It's a cross between the Who, King Tubby, Led Zeppelin, Sly and Robbie and Johnny Lydon. This is a great live version of it.
DOH! Andeez Anderson. Yes, you're correct. They formed in Bolton England in 1976. My Bad. First heard them when a friend in California sent me a mixed tape @ 1980... so always associated them as "American".
Chelsea - War Across The Nation Dream 6 - Rain The New Marines - No Peace Through Chemistry The Untouchables - The General Gerald Michenaud - Kill The White Man Gerald Michenaud - They Don't Like My Clothes The Convertibles - She's Just A Girl Gazmo - Goin' Mental Matthew Causey - The Party Animal
Ok. I'm guessing the song is used on Entourage. I don't know, I don't watch it. That's okay, but songs work best when unsullied by associations with later material that had nothing to with it.

If any band in the world would remake this song, I would love to have The Flaming Lips cover this....I love this song even if that never happens....
Flaming Lips are busy making remixes for the beavers and Miley Cyrus fans!

Pete Shelley channeling Pete Townshend, Maximum R'n'B: Rest In Powerchords.
I saw him that year in Boston at the Paradise on Comm Ave and I think he was solo in support of his solo album. It was an amazing show

DOH! Andeez Anderson. Yes, you're correct. They formed in Bolton England in 1976. My Bad. First heard them when a friend in California sent me a mixed tape @ 1980... so always associated them as "American".

Pondo Sinatra LIVES!!!!
Just cause i feel like it
What year is this performance from???
Why was I a total idiot? Could have gone in '90. Pete got me through highschool. Shelley>Morrissey. RIP Morrissey
You know!
Why can't I find the album version of this anywhere?
Yeah, why?
Actually sounds very tight.
I think it's 1988 this performance
Anyone know who this drummer is? Thanks.
+zzyzxx13 The drummer in this clip is original 'Cocks drummer John Maher. He rejoined the band briefly when they reformed in 1988/89.
Didn't I hear this on Entourage?
yes. 5th season
jesús arias rodríguez Season 6, episode 2 actually.
I don't think Diggle touches foot to the stage during the entire performance. Weller has his work cut out for him, helping Oasis out in a few years.
Chelsea - War Across The Nation
Dream 6 - Rain
The New Marines - No Peace Through Chemistry
The Untouchables - The General
Gerald Michenaud - Kill The White Man
Gerald Michenaud - They Don't Like My Clothes
The Convertibles - She's Just A Girl
Gazmo - Goin' Mental
Matthew Causey - The Party Animal
Pondo brought me here...

good video. coulda used more bass though.
If Diggle put half as much effort into playing as He does posing it would probably have been great.
The end of Entourage always leaves you wanting more. Half an hour is just such a terrible tease!!
Guardians Of the galaxy fans incoming!
Or people like me who heard this when I was 3... amd marked out when they used it in the game...
i think its about a strip club
too much slow... :(
Ya gotta balance out the fast with a little slow every now and then
Just play it at 1.25x speed... sorts it right out.
i'm bored
Absolutely amazing song.
