The Body Keeps The Score is an insightful book by Bessel van de Kolk, M.D. Dr. van der Kolk has spent over three decades working with survivors and in The Body Keeps the Score, he transforms our understanding of traumatic stress, revealing how it literally rearranges the brain’s wiring-specifically areas dedicated to pleasure, engagement, control, and trust. He shows how these areas can be reactivated through innovative treatments including neurofeedback, mindfulness techniques, play, yoga, and other therapies.

Bessel thankfully thoroughly, emphatically & realistically, understands & discusses important traumatic matters such rape & molestation & abuse; which can cause CPTSD - & details how well one type of therapy may work for one trauma but perhaps not another & how some require a few types… his comprehension, honesty & recognition of what ‘said things’ can do are uplifting & inspiring to say the least.. see, he didn’t only write this book for therapists, he wrote it for those who’ve endured trauma!

Why does every trauma presentation on CZcams feature a male expert? And now a male cartoon expert? Take a look at the field. The field is nearly all women. WTF? And yes, I do understand KVdK is male. Duh. Not making that point. 20 years ago he was not so sexy and everyone thought this stuff was crazy. Now men are selling his ideas on CZcams. Not sure that means any patient/clients benefit, though.
