- With the huge success of the live-action Sonic franchise after the first film hit theatres in 2020, followed by its equally as successful 2022 sequel, fans of the franchise are wondering where the blue hedgehog's adventures will take him next and who he will meet along the way. With a third film already underway with production, the post-credit scene of the second film confirmed the debut of Shadow the Hedgehog, and Paramount plus has also confirmed an upcoming Knuckles series. With the sonic universe evergrowing, of course, we’re pretty confident we’ll be introduced to some more beloved characters we know and love.

While I don’t think Shadow is the only new character we’re getting, one thing for sure is it would be tough adding a bunch of new characters in a sequel, without messing it up. I would like to see Metal Sonic though.
I feel Metal Sonic would have a mid-credit sequence appearence, hopefully alongside Dr Robotnik (after an absence in the movie's main story) opening up the possibility of a 4th Sonic movie? Just my speculation though.
@@TheropodHunter If not 3 I feel Metal Sonic would definitely need to be in Sonic 4. What’s interesting is in the Sonic 2 Pre-Quill Comic which is canon in this universe. You see The Chaotix’s all in one page. I think that’s a small hint they are gonna show up in maybe Sonic 3 or most likely Sonic 4.

Okay actually I think since this is really a different’ universe, with a ‘different’ Sonic, and a ‘different’ Amy, they DO kinda have every chance to FIX the whole thing for once

In Sonic 3 I'm really hoping to see Tails when he was a baby. Since, we already saw Sonic as a baby in the first film. And in the second film, we saw Knuckles as a baby as well. I know we got to hear Tails' and Knuckles' back story, but when we heard Tails'back story, he wasn't a baby. So I'm really hoping to Tails as a baby in the third film of Sonic the hedgehog. And yes I am excited for the movie.

Seeing how paramount can make their own story with the movies and execute it well seeing sonic and shadow face metal sonic would be a great idea in my opinion

for me I would also love to see amy rose's backstory as they were both hedgehogs living with their own hedgehog group together and somehow they the group will be killed just like echidna and owl groups, they will get lost then longclaw finds sonic, adopts him and in sonic 3 after they meet they remember each other but as normal friends not like romantic friends.

Number 5: Amy is one of the more or less main characters. She would fit well, but her personality over the years is based on searching Sonic. Tails already searched Sonic and was his fan. Introducing herself must be... kind of fast. She needs to know Sonic fast to worship him and make him tired of her.
Number 4: Metal is one of the most realistic predictions. Remember what he did in IDW? This will probably be the case. Eggman build him, but passed away before. Now his assistant (Rock) activates Metal Sonic and Metal becomes like a Terminator. See one target to kill: Sonic. And he can't be stopped because eggman is dead. The problem is here: Shadow. He will be too similar in this movie
Number 3: Chaos... Well, probably not
Number 2: Blaze is not fitting here. Compared to other characters she is a bit too random. It's like making Youngster Joey the main sidekick of Red
Number 1: Rouge is realistic enough. She and Omega will probably open Shadow and become a Terminator team

I greatly hope Metal Sonic will be the next movie. It would just make sense, Eggman could’ve noticed he couldn’t defeat sonic, so he created Metal Sonic, a perfect copy which is more powerful possibly using one of sonics quills.
I would like to see Rouge the Bat in Sonic Movie 3.
Superman also has his own robot counterpart. They can also play that concept out for movie Metal Sonic.

Some people are on or off to see Jim Carrey return. I would argue that the third movie still needs Robotnik back especially if the film is going to take story beats from Sonic Adventure 2 and Shadow the Hedgehog. Dr. Robotnik is the soul reason for finding Shadow and the unfinished work of his late grandfather Gerald Robotnik.
If it's going to be a complete trilogy, then I think a third movie would be a satisfying way to wrap up his character.
Now this is just my speculation/prediction but I felt that the second movie has been vaguely hinting at an alien invasion occuring. Shadow the Hedgehog does involve aliens.
I'm feeling that an alien race must've discovered Earth and save Robotnik somehow after his robot got destroyed. Robotnik goes through some special surgery which makes him look more faithful to his video game/Satam counterpart and he's now tasked to go back to Earth and find Shadow.
After waking up Shadow, is where they can play the origin for Maria and Gerald Robotnik. When Sonic meets again, that's where Sonic can begin calling Robotnik, Dr. Eggman because of his new egg-like physique.
During the movie, Dr. Eggman Ivo Robotnik can finally use Sonic's blue hedgehog quill to create Metal Sonic.
It can all play out just like a Superman movie where Lex Luther takes the kryptonite or Superman's DNA to create his own mutation. In this case it's Robotnik using the quill to create Metal Sonic. But that's just my idea.
1) There's two possible reasons Rouge will come to Earth and work for G.U.N.: She either escaped from space jail and needs a nowhere planet to hide out, or she's a double agent for the Black Arms. But she learns Shadow's planning genocide and can't turn a blind eye, so she helps the heroes in the climax.
3) Here's how to work Chaos into Shadow's evil plan: Instead of the ARK, Shadow wants to destroy the world by summoning Chaos, force feeding it emeralds tainted with his hatred, and turn the peaceful god into monstrous Perfect Chaos.
4) I don't expect to see Metal without Eggman, but it can be a finale for Sonic's stolen quill from the first two movies. It can power Metal, then be destroyed in his defeat.
5) It's little-known trivia that Amy has psychic powers, and fans need to be reminded. I see her coming to Earth looking for a golden hedgehog she's seen in a vision (that can be both Sonic AND Shadow).
It'll be a year before we get an actual true trailer for this third live-action Sonic movie. Perhaps Amy can debut besides Shadow and another location or more might be sustainable.

I'd love to see E123 Omega, it would work so well. It only job was to make sure Shadow dues not leave the base, it get destroyed and fall back on to a protocol to help Shadow.

Metal Sonic theory: Metal Sonic appears when everyone is fighting on the ARK (In the white and black look) he gets defeated. Sonic and Shadow team up to take down Robotnik (Shadow's still Sonics enemy BTW). Robotnik dies in the end.. when Metal Sonic finds out he gets infuriated and seeks revange. He gets himself the good old metallic blue we all love in the secret ending.
