What size cleat
The pop up cleat will become trash after a few uses of the windlass having the chain going back and forth over it
But is it not advisable to connect the Cleat to a strong place, where a strong wind will not tear it from the place?
Absolutely. Generally, if the deck is strong enough to support a windlass, it will support the cleat as well.
What do you do if you have an all chain rode?
To relieve the tension on the windlass, you’ll need an anchor snubber. See link: dbropes.com/products/1-2-x-12-three-strand-anchor-snubber?variant=32898042658921¤cy=USD&gclid=CjwKCAjwpKCDBhBPEiwAFgBzj870HhqFL_xg0OQX14_xfbB2p3VPqnNf20KEfCFTcchRJIIbBZak6BoCWEYQAvD_BwE
