Kalicokitty12 no, when I saw my bird with them I was like how the f did he get worms on his head I was so worried I was about to pull them out but thank god someone mad this vid
no, me too. i kinda wanted to pull them out. i was kind of worried, but i've also seen many other birds with it so i got over it. I really hope that it is gonna go away soon because, as far as i remember: when my bird got these i could not pet him anymore, and its kind of sad, because i feel like if i can't pet him, he don't love me because he doesn't trust me. He had a state in his life were he kind of bit me every time i came near him... Now he doen't really do that. but still can't pet him and he still have those thick white things on his head. PLEASE! has any one exspirienced the same thing as me, and do you have any tips? or any ideas of why i can't pet him or why he bit me?? HEEEEELP!
My girlfriend got me into birds. I ran across this channel and we love it. We have 2 conures and they are pretty cool. We love your channel! Your birds are so smart!
I got a new bird and after a month it started to get really dirty around its eyes and it go some white spikes and I was crying that this is a disease but I will show it to the vet! Please pray for my budgie it's the only thing that it's so precious to me! I don't wanna lose it...
Molts can be very severe... Just talked to the vet about my parakeet, and apparently this year, they’re seeing an abnormal about with very severe molts. My bird, Mouse, gets incredibly bad molts; we may have to bring her to an emergency vet for it. I’m just putting this here in case anyone else is alarmed about their bird’s severe molt and is coming to this video to compare
Oh my this video was so hard to watch...whenever our linnies molt, i always would go after the fully grown in pin feathers and break all the sheeths....i can't stand seeing all those pin feathers! Help a budgie out with a good head rub ❤👍
Everytime I pet my bird I accidentally touch one of those feathers and it looks like it hurts him. He makes this little squeak sound. It really worries me. Do I hurt him?
When you select breed English budgies, you analyze the pin feathers in the forehead to determine how big and nice the direction of the head will be. The key is to select breed the best.
Could you give tips for finger training budgies? Ive had Pixel (ironically also a blue budgie!) Over a year and hes comfortable with my hand around him, ringing his bells and what not, but does not want to perch!
Ours were already finger trained by the time we got them, as they were both hand-raised. I wish I had more information to give you! You can tempt them with millet. Just put your finger on the front of their chest to try to get them to step up. You might also want to try clicker training.
My cockatiel has gotten pin feathers and she has a strange shell around the feather, she seems to hate it but she can't reach since it's on top of her head. I'd like to know if its alright if I remove it and how.
Kiwi is such a happy bird. I love it lol. Mine are still afraid of me. I just got them 6 days ago. They will eat millet from my hand, but shy away when it's just me Iol. Am I doing something wrong?
Risa Bug I just got my budgie a week ago and she’s still a little afraid of my hand but she eats out of it. And she steps up. Trying getting them to step up on your finger and hand feed them everyday even if they don’t eat out of it. It’s shows your hand not a threat. :)
I had absolutely no clue about this, like I knew they molt but I didn't know about the little pins and so when I was rubbing my babies tummy and I felt all those pins I started crying and my heart dropped cause I thought she was gonna die akhdhs
The pin feathers shell dont get removed by itself. the budgies/birds remove the pin feather shells by themself exept the head that they need a partner to remove the shells. for they cant reach the pin feathers shells on their heads.
I have a question so my budgie is going thru a moult right now and we had an accident an accidentally pulled out his tail feathers, almost everything is gone I checked no blood no swelling he’s good just like before however does this mean that his tail will begin to grow next moult since he’s already half way thru this one? Thanks and please don’t violate me about his tail it was a complete accident and I feel so bad but on the brighter side it could’ve been so much worse!
I don't know to be honest. You can take him to a vet if you're really concerned. Any lost feathers should grow back during the next moult cycle for that area of his body.
Kiwi and Pixel the Parakeets yup so just bad timing lol just had to lose his tail feathers mid moult and it’s not the first time either last time his first moult he couldn’t fly cause petco cut his wings so he broke his tail took almost 5 months to get back to normal
Iv got a minor problem. My canaries have starting molting now as of mating season and at this time they happened to also catch blood mites which i'm treating with a spray to kill the mites. But cause of the mites they are going nuts with preening themselves and my male now has bloody areas of skin where the pins are on its belly and back and on the back its formed an almost lump like shape. The male is damaging his pin feathers by preening too much.
Plan to tomorrow. I'm only posting here in the hopes of learning anything I may not know just for the sake of it... I don't want these two getting hurt or worse.
Please help me my budgie nail was getting so big and I noticed some blood so that's why I decide to cute the nail little bit with nail-cutter and after doing that my budgie is feeling so painful and I don't know what to do ,and also we don't have any vet in your area or city so plz help me plz !!!
Try asking arround if someone knows something about animal care Meanwhile, in case that you cut too much, try to keep it clean, it will heal over time if it doesn't get infected
Lol kiwi is always so active and pixel is like can you stop
The blood feathers gross me out, but it's good to know this information. Thank you
They also gross me out too!
When birds are getting new feathers, they look like hedgehogs. :))
They really do!
Poor Kiwi, he seems to be going trough a hard molt. Hope he gets lots of nice warm showers
I was getting scared of the pin feathers on my budgie's head, I thought he was sick
0:39 Kiwi is such a good teacher! He's explaining Pixel so adorably!
Am I the only one who thought pin feathers looked like little worms coming out of the bird's skin?
Kalicokitty12 no, when I saw my bird with them I was like how the f did he get worms on his head I was so worried I was about to pull them out but thank god someone mad this vid

Kalicokitty12 no it does look like that
Kiwi is super talkative 😂
Thank you I was very startled when I saw my girl had these!
Thanks for the video! Sometimes when my Pippin goes though a molt, I will collect his feathers and use them for my art/jewelry. ^^
Feyna Skydancer me too!!! I have little resin pendants with my Rico's feathers in them, yellow and blue.
My girlfriend got me into birds. I ran across this channel and we love it. We have 2 conures and they are pretty cool. We love your channel! Your birds are so smart!
Thank you so much I am a new bird owner and I needed this information

I hope your budgie is okay!
Great information on molting. Thank you Kiwi and Pixel ❤🐦😊

Great information!
I would love it if you do more informational videos but the recent videos are nice too
My little Sonny loves having his head scratched when he's molting and he most definitely is moody too. Thanks for the advice ☺️
Omg thank you I was so worried about them thank you
Thanks! Now I know what blood feathers are and what to do!
My budgie has pinfeathers but i never knew it could make her a bit moody because she was biting me a bit today thanks for the information!

My bird just finished molting!😍
Now I know why my R2D2 is moody. Ty
Thank god I was scared my bird was sick
You have no idea how bad I was freaking out
Everytime I pet my bird I accidentally touch one of those feathers and it looks like it hurts him. He makes this little squeak sound. It really worries me. Do I hurt him?
Is it molting season right now? River and forest (my birds) started it I freaked and literally went to petco and got them checked at petco.
Our seasons aren’t terribly distinct in California so I don’t know if our seasons affect molting.

I never knew this. Thanks for sharing!

If your bird is comfortable with you touching it’s head then gently try and rub the hard sheaths off
I hear an echoing, hoo-hoo hoo-hoo. At night. It sounds different from a horned owl and a mourning dove though. I live in NJ. Any ideas?

thanks but he is feeling well after feeding him :)
Good to know
by budgie has a pink nose is it a girl or boy
How old is it? And what color are it’s feathers?
For what I understand, an intense blue it's definetly a male, but that can vary deppending on the age and the individual
Girrll if its blue male
Gggiiirrrrll
Depends on the age. It could be a boy that isn’t mature enough to show its colors.
That is the reason why my parrot is not active
It looks soo uncomfortable 🥶 my Green Wing has huge ones
i see people take our pin feathers? Should i?
No
Kiwi and Pixel the Parakeets ooo ok
i can tell when my birds are molting because there are feathers everywherrreeeee...
Hannah Arocha or they are stressed out by you.
saltyspirit oh wow ur so funny A+

Molting is good for my budgies? Yes ya not? 😑😑😑
Yes. It's a natural process.
