    I've bought 2 Orandas and by the way I'm 12 years old and I'm a beginner...and I bought them 2 days later and their aquarium is 40 gallons..and it has oxygen pump and a filter and there very happy and I fed them fish flakes

    Thank you for saying that fancy goldfish are for experienced fish keepers. They are not beginner fish. I have 12 of them in a 270 gallon tank. I have been keeping fish for 7 years and still learn something new daily with my 6 tanks. My Goldfish take the most care.

    My mum bought me an oranda during quarantine. And I've never kept a fish before. I'm thankful that it's still alive! 4 months relationship with a cutie oranda named Bobba.

    What kinds of substrate would you recommend?? I have some smooth rocks, but can't help but feel like they get bored. Thank you so much for making this video!!

      I have tried different options and to be honest it has always been more of an aesthetic thing. I've had goldfish in bare bottom tanks and they lived long happy lives. I've also used gravel but I when I have in the past I used round gravel instead of gravel with sharp edges.
      Smooth rocks are good. I don't think they will get bored.

      Hi! Just an FYI, the first fish needs a 20 gallon tank, and then an extra 10 gallons for every other you add. So two Orandas need no less than 30 gallons to thrive!

      HI. Always best to provide goldfish with LOTS of space. Like the other poster said, 20 gallons per fish. They have a large bioload (waste production). ⭐

    How do i know what type or oranda do i have ? My fish store just said oranda gold fish and didn’t specify the sub branch … i bought 4 of them and non off them have the beautiful cap you have shown here in the video

    I have one red cap oranda in my 10g tank and one of it's eye is red around the edges...is that a problem...tank is well maintained.

    Welp time for me to think more on if I should get 2 orandas when I'm a adult or now. If I get them now I'll be with them until I'm 30. And I already have a betta but maybe I'll try to see if I can get a 40 or 50 gallon tank since goldfish are so cute. 👀

      Get a pH test and it will explain it all on there, and yes the heater is so much better!
      They are healthier and will have less problems with the heater, and they also grow really big with heat

    What is the ideal temperature for red cap oranda ? I maintain temp from 22 - 26 degree Celsius !!! .. do they need heater ??

      The main reason for a heater is just so the temperature doesn’t go crazy! If it stays relatively the same you should be fine.

      If they are still babies. Is ok but eventually you have to move them to a bigger tank. Don’t forget to use some of the old water for good bacteria and let the tank cycle for 2 weeks. I have 2 orandas. They are adorable

    My oranda got hurt on mouth and red cap area little bit from gravel stones.. When dey are trying to dig it.. Wht to do now plz help as I'm very much concerned

      I would keep an eye on the Oranda. Watch for any signs of infections and treat it accordingly.

      I know a few people whose first fish was a redcap. Just keep an eye on the water quality and make sure it doesn't get any unusual growth in its wen

    I have brought 4 baby orandas (oranda size is between 1 to 1.5 inch ) today for my 25 gallon tank that's can be enough space to live healthy life for my fishes.

      That's not enough space for 4 goldfish. A 55 gallon minimum for 4 goldfish. You shouldn't put them in a tank below 40 gallons.

      For a 25 gallon do 1-2, goldfish do prefer a friend but you could get away with 1. An ornada isn’t the best choice for a 25 gallon. I would do a ranchu or if you can get it a pom pom goldfish.

      No. commons should be kept with comets or shubunkins but not with fancy goldfish. The sleeker bodied goldfish will out compete the fancies for food.

    One of my orandas died. I had 2 of them in the same tank with no substrate, 2 plants, a lamp and filter pump thing. The water was not the cleanest but I was trying my best to clean it. The ammonia and chlorine levels were managed and everything was fine. They were frequently at the bottom of the tank. One of them kept chasing the other and nibbling it (idk if it was fighting). A few days later, the one that was nibbled died. Can somebody give me help?

      Not until they are old enough to breed and then you will be able to tell the male as it will have little white dots all over it's gill plates

      They actually like having company, if you have 2 i would go with a minimum of 30 gallon

    Common gold fish get massive, they are not easy to care for long term unless you have a pond.

    Is 60F-65F an acceptable temperature?

      I would personally keep them closer to the 65F. My tanks have been at 68F and the fish have thrived.

      You can if it's a small enough Oranda but only for the short term. You would want a minimum of 20 gallons per fish if you want them to thrive and live a long and happy life.

      There are a lot of things that can affect growth. How old are they? Did they mature? What size tank? What are they being fed and how often? I would start with these questions and go from there.🙂

      @@suroyoverdrive 68-71 degrees is optimal for them. There have been some people that raise the water temp a bit and they said they have seen faster growth. I've never personally tried it so I can't say for sure.
      As far as feeding. You can overfeed and fish and it will grow but it isn't good for the fish. I would stay with feeding it what it needs to thrive but not too much that it gets overweight. My goldfish would eat all day if I let them lol
