  • Dear friends
This is the month of the hungry ghosts for us Chinese, even though it’s advisable to stay at home at night but it didn’t deter me from going out to feature food. LOL, let’s hope nothing bad will come to me. But strangely enough, funny things are already going wrong with the edit. Even though there’s many great food in Taman Yulek but I’m only featuring the eateries at Yulek Food Street confined to the evening’s session. I’ll eventually return to feature the day’s session in the near future. The food on this street isn’t the most exciting, but my aim is to let you know what food is available if you do make a trip here. Hope you’ll find this video informative, meanwhile do go out and support the local street food, be it at Yulek or otherwise. Thanks and see you in the next.

This brings back memories of childhood with my late Popoh. Some of the old favourites such as tong sui, porridge and wantan mee are still there, albeit run by the next generation. Thanks for featuring this place Uncle Elmo. Jeremy

A good spread of hawker food at Yulek Food Street in this episode. I am also impressed with the Chinese 7th month illustration with a tinge of jovial explanation. Can't help with a grin 😆 on my face when it comes to the Yip Chi Mei's char siew pau. I wouldn't mind tasting 2 pieces of it - if it's still available 🤭😉🤤!!! Also the lok-lok stall with some special sticks of lok lok makes me mouth watering ( especially if they still have big see hum - cockles ) dipping it briefly in the boiling water and with a great lok lok dipping sauce. Yatt Lau !!! Mou Tat Teng !!! Thank you Elmo for making an enjoyable and classic food haunt at Yulek.

Hi Elmo, this has been our favourite night food stalls around Cheras for decades. Most of the stalls offer tasty food. Two other stalls left out is Chee Cheong Fun and Char Kuey Teow stall. Only problem there is limited seats, got to book seat before ordering food. During the day session, the surrounding shops/stalls got even more good food choices, waiting for your next video on this...hahaha. Good explanation on the history of Ghost Festival. Thanks for producing this video and keep up the good work. Cheers!!!

Thank you Elmo for the recommendations. I always visit that street but not sure what to eat. Hence, I always ended up eating my favourite Unichoice, chee cheong fun. That is my best chee cheong fun, I am referring to the sauce only(previously was better). The chee cheong fun and side dishes are standard. No doubt the operators of the stall are rather arrogant because of the fast pace business. They have changed operators over the years, once there was a Bangla. I watched this video until the end but this stall was not mentioned. I was wondering...

I totally agree with you .. no interest in politics .. but we must give credit where it's due regardless . Back to yulek .. several of the stores you picked is indeed nice , i have personally tried the tong sui , ham chin peng , wan tan mee , prawn mee.. those are good choices. Opposite there was a stall that sells chee cheong fun .. not bad as well. Only issue in that area is parking .. its really very difficult to find one . Finally i can feel you pain when eating lok -lok .. nowadays its extremely expensive to eat as a main meal .. better eat a few sticks just as a " top up " meal.. LOL !
