And that's exactly the problem these days. People want the exotic and only think of themselves.
In just a few short years we've seen social media warnings not to give away rabbits, guinea pigs, kittens and puppies because snake owners will use them as free meat, we've had armed police searching the neighbourhood for a poisonous spider that escaped, and my cat came home injured, carrying a dead snake along because another **** can't even keep them locked up proper.
Fortunately there's a ban on such pets coming into effect 1st of july this year. Unfortunately the penalties are just a couple hundred fine instead of jailtime.

1st: Thank you for *always* giving the metric units as subtitles! You really care for your *international* audience! 🤗
2nd As always: some ppl shouldn't be given cars! It's a pity for the BMW with the unnecessary engine demage at less than 65,000 km without any oil change! It's a waste of resources of all of us.
Sidenote: less than 35 years ago you changed your oil the 1st time at 1,000 km, then according to the service plan.
3rd: Cardboard and "silicone". The idea isn't fundamentally wrong. If you have an oldtimer or a sealing isn't available, the DIY solution is an option. But you must do it right!
Take a thin sheet of sealing material (rubbery paper-like) or thin and high quality leather, cut the shape as precise as possible with a very sharp knife or scalpel or scissor, use a paper template and a pen. Check the fit several times. Then use a special sealing paste out of a tube and apply just a very thin layer of it on both sides of the material.
    Soft, soaking cardboard? 🤪
Maybe for 10 to 15 min for reaching your home. But not as a "permanent" solution. 🤭

That BMW has an N55 engine and it's #6 rod bearing is VERY susceptible to infrequent oil changes. They're known to spin that bearing and you should change the oil more often than BMW recommends, use proper long life rated synthetic oil, avoid jackrabbit starts and fast cornering that will reduce oil pickup from the pump. If you're smart, you'll have your shop change all the rod bearings when you go in for an oil pan gasket leak around 100-120,000 miles since the real expense is getting the oil pan off. The bearings aren't much more to do. Ask for ARP bolts to replace the factory rod bolts, they'll torque more accurately.

I’m a DIYer and take care of all my toys, but I have been rejected for my trailer that had a brake activation problem that I did not notice. I also remember in the 80’s that we were used to do the yearly check in Belgium, but in France it started only in 1992, and before that date you could see some garbage on the road.
