Dude the borla xr-1 makes the exhaust sound so much better I got a 2010 Silverado 2 door 4x4 with a K&N CAI, pacesetter longtubes, no cats, borla and a 5 inch exhaust tip out the side and it is dumb loud but sounds great !!

Nice man, I have the borla atak with the dual rear exit black chrome tips on my 15 Silverado z71 and love it. Sounds pretty much like yours. I have to turn the radio down almost every time I leave a stoplight just so I can listen to it, puts a smile on my face every time

Hey there from the old Texan. Young man use some safety glasses. Back in 89 I lost a eye working on my truck that I restored.
Chuck Hunter literally dropped a dynomax bullet on my eye last weekend. 8 days and 5 stitches later as well as internal stitches cause I ripped my eyelid as well as the muscle inside. No safety glasses - thankfully I have all my vision and didn’t damage my eye. My girl ordered me safety goggles that same afternoon and I’ve already worn them for just about everything Chuck Hunter provides valuable advice and everybody should wear eye protection.
At 6:38 you can clearly see he's wearing safety glasses. Great sounding exhaust though 🤙
I was young and stupid, my truck was overheating and I pulled the coolant line off. I had no idea what I was doing, someone explained to me how to clean out the heater core with a garden hose but I apparently didn't hear the part when they said to let the engine cool down first. The antifreeze melted my eyelids shut and ate a hole through my right eye. I had 1st and 2nd degree burns, 4 surgeries, and a bunch of experimental treatments. I lucked out big time, 12 yrs later now and I'm wearing corrective glasses. Without my glasses I have distorted and blurred vision in my right eye. It's still really embarrassing, especially because I was training to be a diesel mechanic at the time and should have known better.
I had some crud fall into my eyes and had inflammation and pus for months.
Nice job on the exhaust, I think it sounds much better now. Looking to upgrade my 2015 6.2 exhaust, might go this route, borla makes good stuff. Anyhow Im just checking in from Minnesota, keep the videos coming!

Congrats dude subbed to your channel a bit ago - really enjoy your videos. Borla sounds amazing compared to the cherry bomb (which still sounded nice imo). I just put an 18” 3” I/O bullet on my ‘13 5.3 and it sounds very similar to the Borla. The straight through sound is far superior to chambered mufflers to my ears at least. So much deeper and smoother toned is the way I can describe it. Congratulations on the swap and enjoy the sound! (As well as less drone than the cherry bomb lol)
Clean Silverado! I plan to start more mods on my Silverado here in the next couple months! I've got a K&N Blackhawk intake, shorty headers, hypertech max energy programmer, ballistic 22x12s with a toyo open country 33x12.5, and I also added a 2500HD hood and grill.
I'm going to check out some more of your vids.

Borla is always been what I run. I have a Borla Attack dual and it sounds sweet. Borla, anything else is child's play
Borla is simply extremely respectable and even more reliable for a bat shit crazy noise and they have always sounded amazing on v8's.

Finally someone that does not put on a cheap flowmaster. Straight through mufflers flow way better and sound better.

I love this-it was just as easy as you showed, and totally LOVE the sound. Other than, when cruising on the highway, and my 2007 Silverado switches from V8 to V4 to save gas, that sound is not great, but the sound on take offs is AMAZING! The Borla lets the true sound of the 5.3 come out, and it purrs like a panther! Thanks for sharing this. I plan to put this on all my future trucks also.

If I known earlier you would change your mufflers, I had an avalanche and wanted something different and I installed aerotech (now known as aero mufflers) 3030xl and that is a different sound indeed.

Sounds good one of the best sounds your gonna get with that 5.3 is a Y pipe with 4" rolled over tips gives it a really deep tone

Last cherry bomb I bought was my first muffler at 16. Welcome to the next level. I have 2 of those borlas sitting in my garage for my 68 camaro when it's ready.
Borla straight through is just an over priced glass pack. My 5.3 sounds the same with 50 dollar glass pack from local exhaust shop.

Just a quick share of experience. Most of the time you can tap around where the muffler clamp goes with a hammer and it will come apart pretty easily. Really sharp old truck man. Ohh and if you wanna do much exhaust work I’d get a cordless sawzall lol. Really tho Milwaukee has a good one that system your impact uses. I absolutely love my Dewalt cordless. I love anything cordless.

Gotta swap out that drivers side valve cover with the updated pcv valve hole so she stops smoking when you start her. 👌👌 Gorgeous truck man, I just installed an xr1 on my 08. Coming from having a straight pipe set up and it's a HUUGE difference. it's nice and mellow but a great deep sound with zero drone👌

I really enjoy watching all of your videos and really like the sound of the borla. What would I need to get for my truck to sound like that sonce I still have a stock exhaust. How much difference in sound between a cat-back and the borla? Also difference in money?
Just a suggestion... put your stock tail pipe back on into the muffler or if you can get a y n run dual tail pipes you will really get a nice sound. I used to build exhaust systems in a shop

40 series is one of the best classic muscle sounds, but the airflow is very restrictive in that particular series.
I would never go from flowmaster to borla, borla is just overpriced and it sacrifices sound and clarity for a very muffled refined tone. If thats what youre going for borla is what you want, but every exhaust lover ive come across ends up hating borla because of how quiet it is. At first you might not mind it, but you will eventually start to miss the flowmaster.

how are your angles running on that? ball joints? control arms? I wanted the 3.5 but read a lot of bad reviews so i have the 2.5" RC leveling kit on my 2017 LT Z71 right now

I simply gone MBRP. Same sound, cheaper price. Been running it for 4 years on my 05 without issue.
I have the exact same rims on my 07 Silverado, just put them on 2 days ago, had to beat metal back and zip tie the fender well back for them to fit but I did it
Chambered mufflers are high pitch tin can shit.. I switched to glass pack from flowmaster and its amazing!

I would like to know in your words. How loud is it really in the cab? Your camera is so good that it picks up every lil noise. I want to Borla on my 05 and cant decide between the s type or the xr 1 even the atak. I don't mind some noise but I want to be able to have a conversation as it is my daily drive.
Is that with just the muffler or the resonator delete as well?
I got rid or the stock mufflers and put Borla Atak mufflers on my 2017 Chevy Z71 crew cab . No regrets definitely worth the price to me.

@Rudy Garcia is there any drone inside the cab when going around 75 and lower? I have an 05 5.3 vortex and have stock exhaust and just want a muffler but don’t want it to be loud.
Kaden Murphy There is drone but it's not bad I really don't notice it that much especially when the stereo system is on . Borla offers three different sound levels the Atak being the loudest, I almost didn't get it because I hate how flo masters sound and I didn't want it to loud myself. To me it's more of a rumble like in this video but more tight if that makes any sense. There's a video Borla put out on CZcams that shows how all three sound . It honestly doesn't sound that much different than his in the video just tight or more defined, if you wanted to save some money. I bought the truck brand new and spent 45 grand on it and just didn't want to go cheap on the exhaust system. Cat back duel atak exhaust system with black tips all together was about 1300.00 installed. It was worth it to me.

As it pertains to the eyes. Just finished a two year regiment of eyeball shots to stop an internal bleed. 36 shots in my ball. Don’t it always seem to go that you don’t what you got till it’s gone?

What size tires and wheels are you running and Do you have a small lift or leveling kit. I just bought a 17 Z71 and trying to see what I want to do to it first
I got straight pipe true dual no muffler I’m currently lookin for a muffler so I can have more compression when I drive I also have 5 inch tips what muffler I should get any suggestions

just run true dual cutback. What i run on all my trucks sounds great, deep, and not to loud.
