Fishing a Rapala: I see you tend to do a constant steady retrieve. I get better luck when I let it float - them a good twitch. Let ti float back to the top, and give it a few seconds. And twitch again. all the way in. try to get a good splash and some noise when you twitch it from the surface. IDK, something to try.

I always throw the lure upstream and reel in down or across. Most of the food the fish eat comes downstream to them and anything running into the currant looks unnatural. A panther martin spins slower and stays in the water longer giving the fish more time as well. 👍

Man you was killing me softly in this video. 🤣 Just some unasked for advice I have found over the years, When the trout are after you like that with the Rapala just instantly stop reeling, they will usually choke it down. I think you kept reeling it out of their mouth, especially because they're swimming after it upstream. Me personally I've found anytime I'm having trouble hooking up, the instant stop during a chase is almost guaranteed. It is easier said than done though. It was a gorgeous creek, with slabs of cutthroat. Thanks for taking us there!
Nice job on the slam, You definitely get in your weekly Omega 3!

As far as cajun or hot, spicy seasoning goes. I also don'like it on fish. The one exception is those catfish pieces that are typically cheap. And. I guess. on any catfish I happen to catch. Those I catch - {Haven't brought catfish home from a fishing trip since I was a kid}. Now I'm 60. Anyway, those I catch usually taste like the mud of the lake I fished.

cooking in modern cans is bad for your health: they are coated on the interior with toxic petrochemicals that are stable at room temperature but can be cooked into your food. Back in the day cans were just tin and safe to cook in. Nowadays food cans are mostly steel (aluminum sometimes, but that is more common for drinks) and they add that liner to protect the steel from oxidizing in your food and also so that even if the can gets dented, it will maintain an airtight seal; basically it's to lower the chance of botulism occurring.

Actually, I cut the trebles off my spinners and Rapalas and connect a siwash single hook also but that's a thing we learned in Oregon for big fish, we actually loose less fish. Salmon can roll and big Owner trebles will roll out of their big bone jaws.

You also just make excuses for a fish that’s dead. That first fish you caught is going to die. Everytime I catch a fish it’s in the net in the water with barbless hook out in seconds. Then they swim full of life and energy away. I hope you know how many trout you have killed and feel guilt about it.
