- This is a easy way to change your own oil on a 2015 Thor Vegas Axis with a Ford 6.8 V10 Triton with access to the oil fill from the interior front passenger side work area.
Super easy 7 qts and a new oil filter. It's not hard taking off the desktop on the dash but you will need a big funnel to reach the filler tube.
You answered 2 questions for me during your presentation on Oil Fill. The other is getting to the batter!

I removed my battery and relocated it in the right front compartment. Yea, I loose some storage but the convenience is well worth it. I made new cables and added a battery hold down so now to jump start, (if I need to) clean/service or replace it will be a quick and easy job. As for the servicing of the RV, I tow a utility trailer behind it so I have tool as well as a drain pan to do my own oil and filter changes.
Nice tip, i will consider that next battery change.
Thank you Thor for making such an easy access cover! Wow......I heard about some people spinning the filler tube in a different direction and being able to access from the dog house.

@@BLK86SS No they don't. I wasn't able to spin the oil filler tube because it was attached at the top. I decided between taking the dog house off or the flip dash to fill oil, the dash won. It's doable with the proper length funnel. My access cover was already precut and besides....one day I'll need a new battery which is accessed from there.

Nice video I just change the oil in my Thor axis .If you go to Walmart they have a funnel that the tip will fit directly over your dipstick tube. I simply feel mine up through the dipstick tube avoiding all the hassles you're going through. Also check out Thor forums excellent place for help.

@@BLK86SS kind of crazy they didn't put a fill spout out to the front most of the Vans I've seen have that. Can't take credit for this I got the idea from Thor forms.

@fuqoff aye? the plywood had already been cut except for 4 tabs . Easily cut through the tabs. But I only did that to change the battery . The oil change was easy drain it changed filter and Walmart has a funell fit over the dip stick tube and I filled mine through the dipstick tube. 6qts.with filter.👍 good luck.
Wow. Thats quite something to access the engine. Battery and oil fills are probably not covered under a salesmen walk through.
Couple questions. Did you cut through the plywood to create an access door? How would someone access the rest of the engine components such as coil packs and spark plugs? Would you remove front hood? Inner fender wells?

The dealer did not even know how to add the oil? The wood was precut from the factory. There is a dog house in-between the front seats to access the top of the engine. The valve cover oil fill is not accessible from the dog house.
Use dipstick hole to refill the oil.
You could, it would be a slow process.
@@BLK86SS I know, but motor oil in the cab is no good. I am wondering what is the process for spark plugs, valve cover gaskets, water pump, thermostat, starter and other common items.
@@waliagovind Just did plugs and 2 coils, i accessed them through the cabin. A couple were difficult to get to but manageable. Valve covers would be the same i assume. Starter is easy to get to from underneath. I also had to replace the ac compressor. You have to remove everything up front, plus alor of bracing and brackets. Its quit a job. I believe you would have to do the same to access the belt, water pump, thermostat ext. Plus you will lose your ac charge to remove the condenser to reach the from accessories.

Too much work and that motorhome doesn't have a firewall or anything to keep the heat from going through the dash.

Yes, full synthetic. I have used it on our Rv, boat, cars, SUV generators. Everything for over 10 years. No problems.
I have a 2016 Vegas 24.1, I have close to 8000 miles how often or how many miles would it need an oil change?
We use full synthetic every 5000 and have over 100,000 miles with no issues
After shopping for B+ and Cs, these Thor Axis/Vegas look really nice. I was curious how to get to the oil, now I know. Do you mind sharing what MPGs you're seeing? And what oil change interval are you using? Thanks
We always pull a large trailer and get 7mpg. We change the oil every 5000 all synthetic. We are at 100,000 miles. No issues.

Got to ask you please respond is there ANY WAY to change the oil WITHOUT accessing the top down approach from within the cabin? I recently replaced the chassis battery in my just purchased 2015 Axis Vegas 24.1 and had to cut the tabs to do so. The engine oil inlet is tright there so could any service shop have done oil changes WITHOUT accessing this entry way or was the previous owner dooped and my Rig is running on 20K+ miles of old oil!! Please let me know

I don't know of any other way. I have heard of people creating some sort of funnel with elbows t make it work. If you use a drill the top comes off pretty quick.
