    I really wish Roland would go ahead and implement a full chromatic keyboard mode for all of the drums. They already have given us the ability to contrule tune and corse tune...I wouldn't think it should be that hard to be able to select a drum and then put it into a sort of chromatic keyboard mode where all 16 steps turn into transposable notes that can be played like a keyboard either on the interface of the TR8S or with a midi keyboard. Nonetheless, I still love the TR8S and I'm thankful they keep updating firmware. Fingers crossed for chromatic keyboard mode! Nice video as always Trix, be well.

      I think that is reserved to the MC-707. Totally doable, nonetheless I'm thankful for them updating and adding more features.

      Yeah it is the only thing missing from this machine, I sincerely hope it is not a business decision to not implement it. And I echo everyone else's gratitude for all the updates. If anything all of these updates makes me interested in other Roland products, so holding back the keyboard mode would not stop me from checking out their other stuff!

    Imagine how sick it would be if you could simply plug in a midi keyboard, then add note per step on the tr8s. It would literally make it so amazing.

    IMO, It's the best digital drum machine yet, and it's an FM machine, it just lacks a little A.I. and it would be the strangest and most unique machine (which it already is), I mean by this that it is a difficult machine to beat, it does not have a sampler, but it reproduces the personal sounds of your collection, you can use it like an SP1200 but here you have more tracks and simultaneous instruments, you can also use all the 808 sounds simultaneously which you cannot with an original or a Behringer clone.
    Actually these reasons are very important if you want to do things like electro, IDM or anything with great rhythms and interesting sounds.
    It is a spectacular machine and this machine together with the SP-404 is the perfect team to improvise live or in the studio when recording in Logic Pro or with whatever you like most.

    I too wish the TR8S had a chromatic keyboard mode so you could plug in a keyboard and play bass lines in. Here’s an idea Roland - why not make a version of the Boutique keyboard
    which you can use with the TR8S for this. You could write some clever code to translate the motion sequencing pitch changes into midi. I would happily pay £75 for this. Even better - why not put an input and a sampling button or simple looper onto the new keyboard thingy so we can sample straight into the 8s rather than importing.

    Fully agree with you on the weird way they implemented chromatic 808.
    As it seems they can add ACB models, why not the TB-303 model we have even on the tiny T-8 ?

    • @themainman3900
      @themainman3900 Před 11 měsíci +1

      I’d rather see a TR-8s MKII with it essentially being a jumbo T-8 and including the 303, as well as a screen similar to the MC707 and SH4D.

    • @alexandrosroussos
      @alexandrosroussos Před 11 měsíci +1

      @@themainman3900 I think that can be done in firmware. But yeah, a TR-8X with all that you mention, maybe slightly recessed to the size of the 4D and with USB-C, ability to power with AAs, would make sense in the line-up.

      @@aleksrutar8839 it’s totally possible but they have to take care of well isolating the circuitry. I have a USB-C powered DJ mixer from Pioneer. None of their USB audio mixers suffers from noise, Roland should do the same I agree.

    On my 3rd attempt to snag a used one (outbid, ignored offers etc..) was beginning to think it’s a sign it’s not meant to be.
    Even dugout my old mc808 but the sounds although usable they’re still pretty digital.
    This sounds legit.
    this update just makes me more determined.

    Sounds good and it’s nice Roland are still updating and supporting the TR-8S. I got as far as downloading the 3.0 zip last week, but am holding off until I can figure out how I’m going to back up my imported sample kits and user patterns that fill up the spare locations and decide which to lose since I have no spare slots. First world problem, but it is what it is.
    By the way - no idea what I’m doing, but on my System 8, I’ve noticed when I plug out, it’s only plugging out the synth and not the patches anymore. For example slot 3 has the Jupiter 4 but the patches are JX-3P. Weird. Again, something not very well documented. I noticed the Roland Australia site is probably best for documentation.

      had a sim. Problem with the system 8 but with the Sequencer and saved patterns. Re-Installed the newest FW and everything was fine.
      btw. when you Update tr8s, you'll get asked if you want to backup as far as I watched the Clip

      It wasn’t in my original recording. I mixed with too much compression and gain I think.
