      Really enjoy your video. I have a question about the masonry concrete under the siding. Can that be coated with Portland cement to match new porch? Was thinking about doing this to mine.

    Great video Mike. Lot of experience shows. I really like the cover up with Portland to normalize the look of the dried concrete so it would all match in color and texture. As my grandmother would say "It will never be noticed by a man on a galloping horse".

      An old timer who worked at the lumber yard told me about the "galloping horse" motto when I was agonizing over a piece of wood trim that wouldn't match.

      Hi Jim, yep it was real birds, I had a nice fancy swirl on the driveway, and two robbins landed and fought in the middle and I went back to fix it but it changed color and shape, lol, mike

    A craftsman always makes it look easy, Mike is well within his comfort zone. We can try that but may very well have one side harden before we mix and pour it all.
    I’d try it but with regular concrete I’d have a much more forgiving timeframe. Nice video Mike.

      Great video Mike! You could have knocked me over with a feather when all that pipe was exposed! I find myself studying cracked walls and sidewalks and proclaim to my wife what happened, this from a guy who doesn't even own so much as a trowel!     Great job mike. We never used felt but it looks good. We lay roofing shingles on the block wall. Even so we have still had some top rows of block crack. Man I hate when that happens!

    Great work Mike! You have mentioned the swirls before. I was confused then and again now. I don't want to turn it into a project or get caught playing with it too much but I would like to understand what your talking about a bit more.

    Last year I hired a young big talking idiot to to replace crumbling fascia bricks below a similar porch pad. Halfway through the job I could see workmanship was seriously lacking. Older generation skilled people are much more quality driven.

      Hi Mack, I had the forms pitched, but I still built it up near the door, concrete has a tendency to curl at the ends like a mud pie, thanks Mike
