Very cool demonstration! Noise is fascinating. You might also try a telescoping antenna with a BNC connector.

what this shows is the electro-magnetic radiation being enclosed inside by the cable shield.
Electrical noise is still there unaltered

Good vid, nice test, we used the same for 200 and 250 hp vfd, but have never tested it, how do i test it?

We used an Oscilloscope to pick up the noise, or not pick it up in the case of the SAB VFD Cables. We had to play with the settings to get a viewable reading, but it was pretty cool once we were able to see the effects of the SAB cable vs a regular cable.

I just held the probe near the wire, I wasn't even sure it would work
I was surprised I was able to pick up the noise so easily when pulling less than 1 amp

The test done here is not well administered. You could make a "sniffer" by connecting the ground clip in a loop back to the probe tip. Would work much better.
Noise, Grounding, Ground-Loops, etc is all black magic anyway..No exact science to this. There are "best practices" which should be followed, however always be prepared to vary these procedures as needed...
