Tamzin seems to be the entire package as person. No question she is incredibly intelligent, massively talented and is quite poised. Yet she is an absolute delight. She has a great sense of humor and is approachable. Somebody who could become a friend. I admire and adore this lady. :)
In my opinion Tamzin is the first actress to really capture Katherine Howard on screen. Every other, with the possible exception of Lynn Frederick in HENRY VIII AND HIS SIX WIVES has seemed too cunning and knowing. Even in the Charles Laughton classic THE PRIVATE LIFE OF HENRY VIII and the BBC's 1970 series, Katherine was portrayed by older, more sophisticated actresses, whose performances detracted from the tragic story of Henry's child bride. Tamzin is definietly my favourite TUDORS wife.

The point she made about not fitting into court is a very important one. If you read up on the history Katherine was a very modern girl that didn't fit the time. Very good point and one htat I suspect helped her portray Katherine perfectly.
I've commented that I couldn't imagine anyone else playing Daenerys Targaryen but Emilia Clarke on "Game of Thrones. " I feel guilty for initially approaching this video to "size up" Tamzin Merchant who reportedly played Daenerys in the un-aired pilot episode. Tamzin would have been a different Daenerys, but I believe she could have carried the role. She's a peach....
@@Pillowlips77 - Thanks for replying to a comment I made - three years ago? Others commented at that time that Emilia Clarke was unimpressive to them. I can believe that Tamzin Merchant is the better talent, but I think Clarke was a good choice because she grew as an actress as her character grew.

They recasted Clarke as Daenerys when Tazmin couldnt provide the diversty of emotions in a flash back to back (littlefinger, cersei, arya) that the character needs. It took too many takes of a single scene to get it how they needed it and she also had difficulty staying in her characters voice tone.
I've watched the same interviews, all of them, and have read the authors blog... none of what you say is true. They only re-shot the pilot because it was a disaster in terms of writing. People were confused at the end, and didn't even know who was who (mostly with their relations). It also took them a long time to make changes. It has not been discussed why she left. No one knows.

She's definitely a better actress than Emilia. Emilia's range of expressions is quite limited. And everyone who has read the books knows she didn't do justice to the role like Lena Headey (Cersei) did.
