I was born and raised in Chicago, but after working 12 years in the financial Industry regulating the futures and options markets at the CME/CBOT I decided to pursue my passion fishing professional tournaments and left my full time corporate job. At that point, I moved to Junction City, WI with my wife Sara and two boys Hank and Duke. I've been fishing professionally since 2011 and full-time since 2015. I've qualified for seven MLF Championships and won over a half million in tournament winnings at the professional level. - Sport
Hey Matt, thanks for the info. You showed that there are so many variables to consider with this bait, that I’m just going to throw a different bait LOL!!!!
That’s kinda I how feel too 😅
🍺Nice info Matt many will find this helpful. I religiously change out my hooks and O-ring/snap on EVERY bait I purchase. I enjoy doing it and it gives me confidence.🤠
I’ve watched this video twice and it makes more sense to me now! Thanks Matt, good information 👏🎣🎣🎣
Glad to hear it!
Matt an excellent video again comparing all the differences between these lipless crankbaits + their drop rate speeds too + most definitely different retrieves change ups . Keeping up these great videos coming . Much appreciated.
Good info Matt. Never gave much thought to nose shape before. Thanks forsharing the info.
Happy to help!
🍺Go back to your “ Will one of these be the winning Redcrest baits” and see my bold pick for Redcrest Dalton Read🤠.
Thanks for the tips, Matt!!
You bet!
Master class. You are a wealth of knowledge and as a very inexperienced angler I greatly appreciate these videos.
Glad you like them!
Great vid Matt and this was hammered home for me last year. Day 1 father in law 20ish bass 1/2 orange craw Red Eye Shad and I had a handful on other 1/2 lipless. Day 2 I got 45 bass on a 1/4 orange craw Red eye Shad and the father in law blanked on the same 1/2 version that was hot day 1. Day 3 lipless bite was gone. If you haven’t tried them, suspending lipless baits can be magic some days too.
Sounds great!
Great content Matt but alot of figuring out what the fish want. And for Redcrest dang so close to the cut line. At one time only 1 score able away. Good finish though nice job
Always take something away from your videos. Your lipless content is particularly helpful. Great work Matt
Thanks for your info.
Great vid, Matt!!!
Always the best info
Having fished for 60 plus years I am still amazed why a fish will run a lipless crankbait down in cold water and a lot of times you can put something right on their nose like a jig etc and they won't look at it. It is so cra cra. The same goes for crankbaits etc
I wonder the same thing haha
Thanks Matt
Great video! Cotton Cordell lipless is a go to bait
I was doing pretty good with a 1/8 oz Chatterbait. The next day I wasn't getting any hits. It was windy, so I switched to a 5/16oz Rapala lipless crankbait perch color, and I started catching them again.
Thanks for sharing!
Thank You
Loved it and love the trap style baits
I had to Google if Blunter was a word. It is. 😂
I've had great luck with lipless cranks. Rapala makes a winner and pretty cheap versus others. I prefer the 3/4. You can cast it a mile and it burns really well too.
Really good video, Matt, but I took all that stuff out of my boat way back in July. I went from 170 lbs of tackle down to less than 12 lbs. That old way of fishing isn't relative to my tournaments anymore.
How do you tie the lure to your line.(What kind of knot) Great video thank you
Clear as mud 🍺🍺🍺🎣🐟🐟🐟
When you tie on a lip less bait, do you tie straight to your line or do you use a swivel?
Okay I'm either going to give away my box of lipless crankbaits or put a snap on my line so I can swap them out and figure this out.
Anyone use a snap like on a crankbait? Do you remove the split ring?
Yes I use snaps and most of the time I remove the split ring. On some crankbaits the eye is so small it’s hard to get a snap on it if you remove the split ring. In short though I don’t notice any difference in the baits performance either way.
I use snaps and discard the split ring. I can’t waste that much time retying. Especially when I’m trying to figure out what they want
Matt, don't overlook the Cotton Cordell Super Spot. Little lighter and different rattle.
🍺Bittersweet.. I’d like to think you enjoyed yourself and it’s a payday?🤑
Take a look at the lipless box& I just go- " that one" not random. got alot both rattle+ one knockers' big& small- and yup lots of colors& brands. I still don't get bass- I catch em'; I just don't get em' - ya know-
OK, so....are you changing out your hooks, and if so, what size/brand?
He's probably glad he didn't change hooks before that video (ouch) 😂
@@kenk395 Ha!....you got that right, brother. I'm sure ever person who watches that video is saying to themselves "I'm glad I'm not the only one that happens to!" 👍
What is the difference if a crankbait has a lip or not?
one dives deeper and the other stays at the depth its retrieved at
Do water temps affect fall rates very much on a lipless?
Maybe slightly but not much IMO
LV is king.
👍👍👍👍👍
