A recent spate of TV shows detailing his life has given rise to ‘Narcotourism’ - people coming to the country specifically to look into the life of a man who is arguably the most successful criminal in history. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? How do ordinary Colombians feel about the fascination with a man who is believed to be personally responsible for the deaths of more than 5,000 people? And should Rom feel guilty for being interested?
To find out, Rom visited La Manuela, guided by radio host and journalist Heisel Mora.

The Colombian government could have preserved all the properties of Pablo Emilio Escobar Gaviria and turned it into kind of a museum. Tourism would've increased the economy of Colombia.

I remember seeing the two DEA agents who caught Pablo at a talk. They said Pablo would hire the best Italian architect to build a few houses and them have them killed after they were completed. He did this more than once.

All architects that worked for escobar were assassinated afterwards because they knew the blueprints and these had escape tunnels, doors, hiddenrooms etc. He wanted none to know of that apart from him and his thugs.

I was there a few years ago and it was surreal indeed. Even found a small packet of coke on the ground.....our guide said people like to go there and get high. I stood on the turret that Pablo stood on....that was my moment of getting my mind blown! Beautiful country, the place must have been gorgeous before being bombed.

I don't know how true this is but somebody said your not allowed to go around the ruins anymore just go past in boats as they have it all taped off and have security watching the place as they've said the place is fallen apart so don't want to risk anyone getting hurt but like I said it's just what someone told me as I was wanting to go there as it looks brilliant and a very nice country to holiday at

Fascinating tour in a dark and creepy kind of way. I was all good going along for the ride until I found out that it is being used as a paintball park. Is that they best they could do, pandering to the tourists? How about walls covered with pictures of the thousands who died because of Escobar, or something that honors life?

We played paintball here, had beers and did lines in this mansion - one of apparently hundreds. One of the most famous tours you can get in Medellin!
