HINDERED PRAYER -Husbands not honouring their wives
1 Peter 3:7 KJV
Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
The word translated honour is from the Greek Timē which speaks of a valuing by which the price is fixed. It also speaks of the honour that one has by the reason of the office and rank they occupy. You need to make an effort to get to know your wife because you can only value something that you know. I am told that when diamonds were discovered in Chiyadzwa Zimbabwe the people who lived in that area did not know what they were and how special they are and would exchange diamonds for bread. If you don't know something you will abuse it and will never get to enjoy the benefits that come with the thing.
In as much as the husband should honour his wife, the wife should also honour her husband. The two should make an effort to learn and understand each other. Both husband and wife occupy very powerful offices. They have been entrusted with a powerful office, the parental rank is one of the most powerful ranks as it determines the future of our society. Both spouses should honour and respect each other and make an effort to serve each other. They should do kind staff towards one another and make it their business to outdo each other in good works. Not having someone planning how to hurt and cause the other pain.
The pain that you think you are inflicting on your spouse you are bringing misfortune on you and your family. Your prayers will be hindered because you failed to honour your wife. Your wife occupies a very special office in your life. Some men could be so blind that they can not see that their lives only changed for the better when a particular female came into their lives. When God wants to bless you he brings a person into your life and similarly when the enemy of your soul wants to destroy you he also brings a person into your life.
The interesting thing is that your wife and the Holy Spirit occupy the same office they are both known as helpers. Your wife is there to help you become a better person and have the grace to execute your duties on earth. If you noticed in the Garden of Eden God created one man and one woman. This means that it's one husband and one wife. It's only one woman who has your interest at heart what the other females want for you is not for your progress and success they are just wanting to spend your money and dump you when you are broke. Their mission is simple they have been sent into your life by the enemy of your soul to destroy the family unit.
Take some time with yourself to examine your life and see if you are making any progress, ever since a particular female came into your life. Has she been an object of blessing or a source of curses? The day you failed to honour your wife and probably left your home that is the day your life began to fall apart. You used to walk in blessing and never used to struggle because you honoured the marriage covenant. Some men blame and abuse their wives because of their misfortune and in some cases, they are the ones to blame. You can never succeed as long as your spouse is miserable. Do the best you can to keep your spouse happy.
If things are not well in your home they will not be okay anywhere else. Make the effort to deal with the issues in your home try and avoid the blame game, man up and take your responsibility if it means you have to apologize don't let pride destroy your life and that of your loved ones. For the sake of the family, the unit forgives each other. Find common ground and stand in prayer for each other. You will never cheat on someone you pray for, you will never abuse a person you pray for. Taking time to pray for someone just means that you value the welfare of that particular person. Pray for your spouse you should even fast for your spouse.
