- The historic 'Mother Road' of America is Route 66. It has connected Chicago and Los Angeles across eight states and four time zones since it was opened almost 80 years ago. It now provides a nostalgic and entertaining journey through a dramatic and exciting period of American history.
From Chicago in the east to Los Angeles in the west, there is only one direction in songs, novels, and for Route 66 lovers. This fabled route snakes its way through the gorges of the city at Lake Michigan before becoming a rural road for about 4000 kilometres across "Small-town America."
In many parts, Route 66 still looks like a museum from the 1930s and 1950s. This three-part series delves into the rich and historic route that has come to resemble a piece of American history, geography, and faded American ambitions from the past.

I lived in Southern Nevada 17 years, and I love the energy feelings of the Dessert, it is so special.
I grew up in Arizona and have many happy memories of 66. I miss those times, there was an electric excitement in the air. People were happy and enjoying themselves, and the 'mad rush' was virtually nonexistant. Thank you for this amazing journey.
When we went camping once…will nit say where…an indigenous ranger and my Dad who was part Chickasaw became friendly. He took me and my father to view some of the most beautiful petroglyphs I’ve ever seen. They brought me to tears.
What an interesting slice of American history. Heartbreaking what the American migrants went through in the great Depression and Dust Bowl years. I was so glad the character at the end of this doc had a happy ending!
Thanks for making such a bangin' video to watch! I really appreciated all the time and effort spent into making this! Until next time!
The Native People's deserve the resources that help replenish there losses. I expect they understand the value of the Higher Mind, which can give them the balance necessary to live in a positive Harmony with abundance.
It is a most Benefic value and opportunity for these most deserving Peoples.
Best Thoughts ...
God bless the Marines. ❤🙏🏼
Love Route 66, esp the Arizonan part!
I thought this documentary was going to be related to the title...just rename it Route 66 😑 since thats all it really talks about
The acoma sky City is amazing and the people are wonderful. I recommend everyone check it out.
Is that Waltzing Matilda I hear in there? Good Australian song, we can share it around. 😂❤
I lived in AZ for part of my childhood and young adulthood. I went of U of A in Tucson. Whenever I could I went out to the desert to meditate and just be. For me it remains the home of my spirit.
I’m reading a book on American colonialism and currently in the chapters about the Pueblo peoples and their struggles against the Spanish . Interesting to see how they’ve thrived against such aggressors and ultimately outlasted their cruel oppressors !
Great historical video!
Loved it
Guys it's just wonderful, for me I like traveling too much 💗💗💗,
This documentary is serious mislabelled
A kilometer = 0.621 Miles or just over a 1/2 of mile. If they say 4000 kilometers = appx 2,400 - 2,500 miles.
Sow what does the guy with the tyre (Tire)shop do with all the clearly new tyres that surround him?

Kilometers? We use miles in America
Hi.
This had nothing to do with New Mexico...just Arizona
Should have asked a Hopi elder what the petroglyphs say, instead of a person who has no connection to them, and is only guessing.
I love the fact that there are no visitors allowed on that sacred river... wherever outsiders go so do their graffiti and the urge to destroy mother nature
The hualapai lady was sweet.wish I could meet her
7500 B.C......it's a shame having this descendant of the original invaders showcase it as if ir was a trophy
False! This is not about New Mexico. Mostly Arizona and many other areas.
Good. New Mexico sucks in every way
Casino? Seriously?
Casinos belong to all Native American tribes
He should give the land back to the natives
All I no is as a truck driver I literally hate driving thru the 40 and having to stop because the native folks are either extremely racist or hate black folks. I've been all over and there the only natives that make me feel like they hate the color of my skin or I'm not welcome. The other natives in America make me feel welcome and at home they smile and there extremely cool and nice makes me feel right at home. So now the only place I stop is in Albuquerque, NM
I don't think they are racist towards you specifically. They are just bitter to all people who come to their area.
@@wabbit6653 bitter for what it's a blessing to wake up in the morning lol maybe your right different tribes different vibes
Big Jay
I started to move to Gallup, NM in late 90s and noted the look of Hate the locals (NA) gave me when I walked to MVD office. I quickly decided to relocate Elsewhere. I'm native American born in midwest and have fair skin tone. I don't like a Worped Attitude from strangers don't care who they are. All that shows me is a mentality issue which I'd rather steer clear of.
This documentary may have been better without a foreign
Voiced narrator?? Why not NA if its truly about the local NA folks.?? Might have seemed authentic?
get rid off this stupid casino 66 and build something useful
and you native Americans stop gambling
you given money away
We are wining. Meanwhile those that are gambling their money are white Europeans 😂😂
For a years and years Pueblo Native Americans always denied they were ever related to the Anasazi Native Americans. Now that the Pueblos realized how much land the Anasazi once owned their just now saying they are related to the Anasazi people lol.
