      Aww I'm so glad you found this video helpful! I knew it would help someone out!
      I think it's best to take all of your major prep courses before you get there, and do your best to get A's in all of them!
      Also, try to get A's in the golden 4 classes(english 1 & 2, math, and public speaking)! I'd aim for a 3.7+ GPA!!
      Good luck to you! And if you want to go to SDSU Fall 2018, you're applying this Fall then?

    So i have been hearing from multiple people that there is a big difference between fulfilling the requirements for an Associates degree to transfer to CSU and completing the requirements to get an Associates degree. I was originally under the impression that completing the transfer pattern requirements would also complete requirements for an associates degree. i currently have 4 classes left at my junior college but i have not received any email letting me know i was coming up on my associates degree.

    hey! sorry so this is going to be a long comment bc i literally have never seen a video so relevant to me lol but is your major communication studies? bc that's actually what i'm aiming for
    but anyways, i'm a first year at a cc & i'm planning to be finished with my units by spring 2018 (taking classes all quarters) so i would be applying to unis this fall, and you are at ucla & got accepted to sdsu which are my top two schools! thing is, idk if i should apply as a comm. major for both or a major less impacted, since both of those schools are highly competitive

    • @LeSweetpea
      @LeSweetpea  Před 7 lety

      I applied with Communication Studies to UCSB, CSULB and CSUF, and I applied with Japanese to Berkeley, UCLA, UCI and SDSU.
      I was accepted to all, but since I picked UCLA I'm doing Japanese Language & Linguistics! There's definitely transfers that majored in Communication Studies! You just have to make sure to finish all the pre-reqs and get A's mostly.

    I’m going to be 20 and I have completed 2 semesters at my local community college. I have only been taking two classes per semester so I can get used to everything. I don’t know how people can take like 5 or 6 classes per semester and hold down jobs. I’m really dreading taking the math and science classes. I am jealous of my friends that are going to 4 year schools because I don’t feel like I’m growing at all and getting the same experience. I also have no clue how I’m supposed to finish college by 22. I’d like to transfer to a 4 year one day. Maybe a private college. I also have developmental disabilities that make things much harder for me.

    I'm in a community college. My grades is not great at all. My goal was and still is to transfer to Central Michigan or Michigan of Ann arbor. I'm 21 I hit a big road block these past couple years. Not having financial aid cuz of my performance in class. I need suggestions.

    • @CinBubble
      @CinBubble Před 5 lety +1

      Your school might have SAP which is basically a financial aid appeal.
      Also, even though you might not get Pell Grant money to spend on books or transportation because of your grades, applying to financial aid can still pay for your tuition, so technically school is free.
      Also, idk what state you are in, but in most California CCs, you can do “academic renewal” for courses you received a D or F in and do not plan to retake. If you do want to retake classes in which you got a D or F in, that grade automatically gets replaced by your new grade and the first bad grade will not be counted towards your gpa.
      I hope this was helpful!!

    I can't seem to find an answer to this although it seems pretty simple... If the community college I am attending doesn't offer all of the pre-reqs for a major I want at the university I plan on transferring to, can I take those classes at the university before being accepted into the program? Like do I need to be accepted into a major program to be accepted into the school? Thanks for making this video btw, it's very helpful

  • @angiem7725
    @angiem7725 Před 5 lety +4

    You make it sound so easy. The process was extremely hard for me, you just covered the basics and not everything they ask for. I didnt get into SDSU, Im majoring in Psychology but you cant just apply with a different major just to get in, I mean you could but then WHAT? Change your major? Can you go more in depth about this?

    • @LeSweetpea
      @LeSweetpea  Před 5 lety +1

      I went over everything they asked me 🤔 What else did they ask for?
      I literally just sent in my application, updated it, and followed any additional things that they may have emailed me.
      After that, I got accepted.
      Changing your major? It’s important to also do the pre-reqs for the other desired major too, but once you get to the school you transfer to, you just need to talk to your advisor and talk to the department that your want to switch into... plenty of people change their majors throughout college. It’s very common.
      For example, I had a friend that got into UCLA with Economics and ended up not liking it, so he switched to Sociology and started fulfilling those requirements. He might stay at UCLA and extra quarter or so, but he just talked to his advisors and went through a process to switch his major. You just talk to administration. Every school is different, but all you have to do is ask, and they’re tell you how to do it.

    I'm a senior in HS and I applied to USC and Occidental and I was wondering why you didn't apply to these schools? Was it grades, location,etc?

      For some reason, I never liked USC (the location, vibe, etc.) Occidental I just never considered, and I didn't want to go to a private soo that's pretty much why. UCLA's been my dream school since I was 12, so once I got older that was always the school I wanted to go to 🙈 and I also wanted to go to a high ranked school + be in LA so yeah ✨ I got into Berkeley too so grades wasn't a problem haha

    Do you recommend applying with a non impacted major just to get accepted and then change majors afterwards to the major you actually want to do even if it is impacted?

    • @LeSweetpea
      @LeSweetpea  Před 6 lety

      I recommend applying with a non-impacted major.
      That said, it's up to you to decide what's more important: going to your dream university or majoring in your "dream" major. I personally choose to go to my dream school(applied with a non impacted major) because it's a top school and I felt that I would find opportunities being ~whatever~ major I chose. I also really liked the area and thought it was more important (for me) to live in an environment that I really liked as well.
      Many (smart ppl) lol just apply with a non-impacted major and then switch it once they get there. (They just do the pre-reqs for the major the applied with & the major they plan on switching to)
      This girl I know applied to UCLA with Japanese and then switched to BioChem~ so yeah! It's your choice! :)

      Kitsuna Fox you apply during the beginning of your sophomore year during Fall. You take the required classes during you freshman and sophomore year. 30 units during freshman and 30 during sophomore will get you to 60. Or if you took 25 during you freshman year for example, then you'd need to take 35 units during your sophomore year to finish spring semester with 60. Each class is normally worth 3-4 units. You should go to a counselor and ask how many you have if you're confused.

    I applied to UCLA for an extremely impacted major (3% acceptance rate) and my anxiety while I wait for decisions to come back is getting to me :( I applied to 4 CSU's and 4 UC's but UCLA is has been my dream school since...forever. Would you mind making a video on how to cope with the waiting process and with rejection letters?

    • @LeSweetpea
      @LeSweetpea  Před 7 lety +2

      +Jaelin Taylor Hey! I did have some anxiety with getting accepted to schools, but I got most of my letters unexpectedly fast(December - March), so by April I was only waiting to hear from Berkeley and UCLA.
      I fortunately didn't get rejected from any schools, I got accepted to the 3 CSU's and 4 UC's that I applied to. ☺
      Before I knew if I would be accepted or not, I was thankful for the schools that I had already been accepted to, CSUF(dec), CSULB(jan) and SDSU(mar), and I thought to myself 'I'm thankful that I will have a great and highly ranked university to go to this Fall, and I know that I will have fun wherever I go and that will be where I am meant to be. Maybe if I don't get accepted to x school, it's because I'm meant to go to x school, and maybe I'll meet my future husband there, or maybe I'll find my future job there because of that specific connections that I will make at that location'.
      I was genuinely so happy when I got accepted to all schools before ucla/berkeley and I think I still would have been happy going to SDSU or UCI.
      So I'd say once you get accepted to your first school, or your first school that you might want to go to, start considering going to that school and start looking at the great things about it!
      I visited UCSB and went to welcome day and found that was a great school with a great Japanese department and had a beautiful campus! I also researched more about SDSU and really want to visit, but I didn't have time. So whichever school(s) you get accepted to, look at the great things about them and actually seriously consider them before you hear from the other schools. :) hope that helps xo

    I may have a stupid question here but transferring is all so confusing to me. Do your high school grades go into transferring or what if you have a GED could that effect anything? again sorry if it's a stupid question.

    • @LeSweetpea
      @LeSweetpea  Před 6 lety

      It's based on college coursework. I'm pretty sure it asks if you have a diploma, GED or what year you graduated, but it doesn't ask for grades or anything.

      60 units is the minimum units needed to apply to transfer to a cal state for any major, including your golden four (math, English, social science, and science). Some majors like engineering will require more pre reqs.
