Whilst I was a fan of both girls at the Open I was rooting more for LF because she's the ultimate underdog while Emma makes everything look easy like you know who on the ATP Tour. Look at the scores of the matches from the 4th round on for Emma and and she wasn't playing average players. Yes Layla played the tougher players but look at what Emma did from the sweet 16 through the finals she lost 3 games in the round of 16, 7 games in the quarter finals 4 games and the semifinals and 7 games in the finals against the guttiest grittiest girl I've seen come along in years. They were hating on her/not cheering her. Very biased against her, but it didn't matter one iota. She did it!
18yrs of age, didn't even drop a single set. Very innocent, shy, plain young lady, but make no mistake, a winner.
Just for that alone, im pleased that SHE won, and the fact that she is British, representing our nation, then that is just the icing on the top.
Overnight she has cemented as a British legend!! Get innnnnnn !
I don't want to chat smack about her opponent, but she was loud mouth, moaner. Arguing with ref, complaining. I don't like that kind of S*t

Wow what a phenomenal performance! During the whole tournament Emma had such composure, carried herself very well. She came across as very mature beyond her years! Kept calm whilst under great pressure and made the right shot selections during the big points of the matches which for an 18yr old is amazing. She seems level headed but hungry for more success 🎾🔥💪. Fernandez will learn a lot from this defeat! It will make her come back stronger, we will hopefully see more of these two playing on tour in the future 🙂
