    • @BenjWarrant
      @BenjWarrant Před 8 měsíci

      The thing is, her links with China, Romania and particularly Canada were entirely accidental. What formed her as a tennis player was England, and in particular the LTA. England is also the country that is the only home she's known, the country where she had access to free education and free healthcare. She's as English as she wants to be, and that seems to be 100% - even if she does cherish her family origins.

    • @lemmingsplat5279
      @lemmingsplat5279 Před 2 lety +5

      Ostapenko is all-or-nothing, and usually nothing, with questionable mental attitude. They are nothing alike. It's harder in general for players on the women's side to dominate grand slams partly due to best-of-3 matches. Serena was an outlier in recent years, but she was just hitting bigger than anyone else for so long. Now it is far more even.
      We can't and shoudn't really even begin to judge on one Grand Slam. But people are excited for Emma because of how she was able to mentally block out so much pressure. This is a huge advantage to her if she can maintain it as she gets older.
