I like 3rd gen's better, only because of how far back the engine sits in in the 4th gens in the bay and how the firewall and cowl is right there makes it a bit more of a pain in the ass to work on there isn't a whole lot of room compared to the older ones. Other than that they are good.

I bought my 95 3.4 l brand new. I was 19 at the time and couldn't afford the insurance on the Z28 and the 3.8 RS wasn't out yet so I bought the 3.4. There is no other car that looks like a 4th gen Camaro. Back in the late 90's there weren't many after market upgrades available, but now I see there are quite a few. I was thinking about upgrading the suspension and brakes so I can rip around country roads. I think the v6's handle better because they are lighter in the front than the v8s. Today it looks brand new but there is a bolt that stripped out on the transmission.

I found a love for 4th gens 3 years ago when my buddy got rid of his 93 v6 and got a 99 z28 with the T tops. Now if you really know these cars you'll know that the chameleon green was a rare color and that's what it was. He got into an accident and got the front fenders, front bumper and the hood all fiberglass and got a 2 1/2 inch cowl hood scoop. He's right about how it's just modern enough to throw cool shit into but still old enough to be considered "mullet muscle". I like 98+ ones they did, the 93-97 really needed a facelift

@@GnarshredProductions So the limited engine space in the 4th gens is the reason why you like the 3rd gens better? Ok. But the engine that sits in that tight space is wayyy better than that TPI in the 3rd gen.

I had both 4th and 5th gen SS cars, a '98 and a '12, just sold the 2012 and kept the '98. The 4th gens are by far the better car to live with. I never did warm up to the 5th gen and actually came to hate it. The 4th gens are the perfect balance between old muscle car and modern sports car.

I just decided to build a forged motor and at the time ported ls3 heads were 1300 new. It was the 350cfm heads that made me look into the swap. I was running nitrous on my lt1 and made 430rwhp and 570rwtq spraying. It was a lot of fun. I can’t agree more. I have been loving mine since I took possession of it in 1998. Mine was leased to someone who drove it for a year then I bought it. It’s been great to me through all these years. I put 325,000km on it and only went through one clutch, one opti-spark distributor and one water pump. It’s been very good to me and reliable as hell. Mine is black on black leather with T-roofs, a/c (of course) 6 speed stick ( again of course!) and has never been smoked in. I’d love to upgrade to an LS upgrade but with having its history all documented and it being the last V8 iron block I think I’ll just keep it’s vintage and heritage intact. It's an easy shape to be attracted to, pleasing to the eye. But it gets a little dull when you see them everywhere, mainly driven by cheerleaders with rich daddies or secretaries looking for some status, or in the case of the first gens, rich grandpas who spend their retirement money paying shops to lsx swap their base 69's with fake ss badges. The new z28 and zl1 are finally drawing the attention of *car* *enthusiasts* to the new gens, not the masses, who are already in love. The 3rd and 4th gens are the rage for most car enthusiasts due to their price and power, while still being attractive to look at. When an average person sees a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th gen, they just see a cool car, not a name. And that's what some of us want.

I dunno , never drove a 3.4 but every time i see one they sound terrible and misfire uncontrollably, i driven a 3.8 and its beefy for a 6, not raw ignorant power but enough to spin sum tires and have sum fun. We live in the middle of Michigan, several nice road courses within an hour and a half of us, one thing that worries me is the fact that after November 8th if the democrats maintain control of congress after we vote, they plan to make auto racing, motocross, all recreational motorsports illegal, totally ban the production of auto parts for cars older than 2008 and continue cutting energy production soaring the cost of energy, creating shortages.

@@user-Dr. Thanks for the advice! I haven't found any cool car clubs like you guys have, but when I bought the car, I did find that we have some SCCA chapters in my neck of the woods. I live in Missouri, and have two options-SCCA in Kansas City, and SCCA in Neosho. They both have autocross, and the one in KC also has road racing every so often. I'm jealous that you've got a couple of different road racing courses. Road courses seem like they would be super fun, and a good fit for these cars-more room to stretch than and AutoX course. That being said, I'll probably AutoX a few times. I like that there's no other cars on the course in AutoX, and it seems like it's probably not as hard on the car as road racing. Even though road racing looks like the most fun, I'm scared to break something. Like you said, I actually have a pretty nice car that is currently all-original. I'm fighting that all-original vs. having fun in it battle. Don't get me wrong, I'm going to have fun in it, the question is just how much.
You have an LT1? I've been kind of interested in what, if anything, people are doing to get these cars ready for that kind of action. Not to go out there and dominate, just to race and have fun in a safe way. I know any time you race, you're risking parts breaking, but I was wondering if there were any obvious things people do to take care of the cars before getting on the track, especially LS1's. I think they're pretty sturdy motors, but do you have any tips? Thanks, again

I had a 3rd gen which was ok but it had only a 305. I ended up selling it because I didnt have the money to fix it up. I bought a 98 z28 with the sport package and its been great for over 15 years. The car handles great even with a solid rear axle the suspension was set up well and maintains control when going fast. I was thinking of putting a turbo kit on it and its easy 700 hp. Still it would cost money but for the money you get a crazy fast car. I'm still holding off now it since the economy is having issues right now.

Very clean, very simple example of an f body..I just sold my '02 SS for complicated reasons, but it made a lasting impression on me...the c5 z06 is in my near-future to replace the SS! I will always love 4th gens though...nicely handled donuts! I did the same when I had mine :P

prefer '98-'02 style even though they are pretty much same ... as the pre-'98 ...

I can still smell these cars every time I see one. Worked at a GM dealer when they were new.
