    Hey Alex!! Does this same technique work if I use Logic Pro instead of Pro Tools? And is Sphere 16 still available for download i can’t seem to find the software anywhere? You’re tutorial was probably the best explained and most understandable I’ve seen on CZcams, i still have some questions

      @@DolbyAtmosMixing Thank you!! Where is Sphere 16 available for download? I Can't Seem to find it anywhere, Would blackhole be a good substitute?

      @@untitledchannel6804 You should be able to use Pro tools audio bridge 16 channel version instead of sphere 16

      @@untitledchannel6804 hi im pretty sure any 16 channel virtual sound card would work here. I had blackhole in the past but it was a 2 channel version but i think they have multichannel.

    This clickbait titled video is very misleading and does little to inform. Most people don't know what Groundcontrol Sphere is and are probably hopelessly googling for a software called Sphere 16. Your video is too zoomed in to actually see what you are clicking half the time in the top and the left. Maybe start out by mentioning you have a $1,000 thunderbolt soundcard and explain why this is even needed (I still have no idea what Avid HDX is) and another $1000+ of software and this requires installing iLOK. All in all I have spent over an hour trying to follow this video and still have no realistic way of ripping Atmos tracks.

      The Avid HDX is irrelevant because that's just what the speakers in his room connect to. It's basically equivalent to whatever playback system you use at home.
      But I agree, it's a bit clickbatey, since he's not actually ripping Dolby Atmos with all the important metadata. He's only ripping a 7.1.4 Downmix, which is channelbased, therfore not actual Atmos and will not translate the same way into binaural and other formats...
      But in any case, it's still useful to learn from existing mixes that way.
      You can do this with any audio software that supports multichannel audio (even free ones like Reaper) if you have a virtual soundcard software that supports at least 12 channels. You could even build your own routing patch in software like Max or Pure Data.

    If you are running a MTRX Studio through Dante, you can do the exact same thing without having to download any other software. Set your input and the outputs through Dante the exact same way you would with Sphere.
    I use Logic Pro for this setup. I would love to share my template for anyone that wants it!!

      The best way to do it is rip from Tidal to get the Atmos DD+JOC.mp4 and then Cavernize the mp4 to your speaker layout as Atmos ADM BWF or Multichannel PCM. Takes about 5 seconds to do the whole track.

    • @alex_ayers
      @alex_ayers Před 11 měsíci +1

      @@SamHocking I'm not exactly sure what you mean by just "Ripping" unless someone else already has the file recorded like in mine and the AlexProMix method. I use Apple Music, and it uses the DD+JOC format for their output so there is no binaural rendering unless you are using airpods/Some kind of Apple device without HDMI.
      I have the template for recording Atmos set to my speaker layout like you said, which allows me to export as ADM BWF. To me, my method is pretty easy. Especially if you are trying to find a niche genre song mixed in Atmos that most people have never even heard if. Maybe I misunderstand what you mean by the Ripping/Cavernizing process before importing... either way, that process still has to take place for recording to a DAW first.

    • @SamHocking
      @SamHocking Před 11 měsíci +2

      @@alex_ayers Tidal streams the dd+joc file same as Apple Music, but from Tidal you can actually download(rip) that file so you are not recording playback you have the actual file Tidal are streaming. Cavernise lets you offline decode the dd+joc to multichannel PCM or I usually just convert the dd+joc back to a 7.1.4 ADM BWF as you can just play it straight in the DAW or DAR then. Similar end result, just better to have the offline copy of the Atmos dd+joc file itself rather than record the multichannel playback in realtime from Apple Music imo.

      @alex_ayers Před 11 měsíci

      @@SamHocking I do not have Tidal, and at the moment I prefer Apple Music over anything else for the price. I enjoy the process of recording Atmos music. But that is also a cool way to do it if you are in a pinch on time already owning Tidal. I dont know why you would need to rush this process, especially, if you're just listening back for yourself. (My comment about Dante also refers to recording Apple TV and other Dolby Atmos enabled streaming platforms)

      Hola! I think this only works with AppleTV and Apple Music, because they are natively streaming, multi channel audio. With streaming channels that play from a web browser I believe it’s limited to two channels.

    Alex, On a couple of your loder videos you said we could go to your website a find a link to download a couple sample tracks of your mixing work. I sure would like to hear something completed be am Atmos master such as yourself. The work done by the band Yello on their (Atmos mixed) "Point" album is crazy good.
    Thank you and please keep up your great Atmos efforts, Kevin
