  • If your SKODA doesn't have a spare wheel and you have a puncture, you'll find an emergency repair kit in the boot. Lawrence Johnson of DM Keith SKODA in Leeds shows you how to temporarily repair the puncture and get back on your way. NB: THIS IS NOT A PERMANENT REPAIR - DO NOT EXCEED 50MPH AND TAKE THE CAR TO A SKODA DEALER OR PROFESSIONAL REPAIRER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

    I could’ve done with this video earlier today. Why manufacturers no longer fit spare tyres is beyond me. As of now I’m paying for a spare tyre because if the hole in the tyre is more than 4mm then this get is of no use!

    What a bloody performance all to save the car manufacturers money!! It used to be an offence to drive a car without a spare wheel! I can change a wheel far quicker than that stupid idea and what they don't tell you that if you have a rip in the tyre that stuff you are supposed to pump into the tyre does not work so you are stuffed!!

    I don’t see what the issue is. If you want a full size spare then just order one. This kit is actually a very useful solution for a lot of people. They do reduce cost to the manufacturer granted and they reduce the overall weight of the car, contributing to fuel efficiency. Why moan and criticise the manufacturer when it’s your personal choice which you have?

      I have ateca and bought full size spare so I can continue a journey safely. These kits are fine but if there’s significant hole or damage you’re stuck at side of road - potential death trap until b down service can get to you with replacement tyre at top price. Or just get spare. Space savers have speed limitation, it’s role to get you to tyre depot and much less tread - about 2mm on skinny tyre. Just out full size spare in boot.

    Hmmmm ... Bullshit... I have bought a simple repair tire sealant inflator that already injecting air of 1-1,2 bars. It's only for 5 euros and used it once it was needed.
    On bottle was marked that you need drive first 3 km at 70 km/h. After it, you increase pressure of tyre to normal and you can drive until 5000 km. Some sealant in the market are permanent !!!
    I have driven directlty to repair shop and technician couldn't find the hole !!! He taken 30 minutes, to blow the tire until 3 bars, put it under water, nothing ! They put my wheel back without repairing. It cost me 0€.
    After this repair, I made 30000 km with sealant for 5 euros !! Without any problem.
    P.S: to inject the sealant, I didn't remove the nippel !!!
    Bravo VAG !
    However, I'm not need anymore of this Kit. I have changed of car from Skoda Octavia 3 to VW Passat B8 in Highline version. I have full wheel in my car now. Full 17" aluminium wheel.
    However, I have bought again the same sealant for 5 euros, to not lose my time when my tire will be again attacked by a screw on the road 😉

    sorry folks, especially all you people that think this is useful because most of this information is wrong and and not delivered the way it should and 9 times out of ten it wont work. firstly the leak area or puncture hole needs to be positioned at the bottom so listen and look for the leak if it has a screw or nail in it remove it move car till the hole is at the bottom if you cant find it make sure the valve is at the top of wheel and squeeze in the product it will run down and find hole only if it is in the tread area. then pump up the tyre to 30 psi and drive for at least two miles to disperse evenly the gel product, then pump up further to manufactures spec pressure. my pump wouldn't even work when i tried it probably made in China another problem area, strange. advice get a space saver or a second hand real spare as the manufactures through greed are putting you lives at risk when this happens especially now with the mass of large potholes that will now burst your tyres and damage your alloys i have spent thousands keeping my cars and vans on the road they now all have proper spares wheel and all the relevant tools jack, torch, lock nut key all together, remember its your life and your families etc that are at risk this is a massive problem ask your emergency services. and when you are buying a car or van near the end of the deal ask to see the manager and ask if they have a proper safe spare wheel in the vehicle if not be prepared to walk away from the deal the manager wont want to lose all this profit trust me, i have done this often , be safe and be strong,. share this to everyone thanks

    The sealant works and will get you to a tyre repair shop, it does not damage TPMS or the tyre. For those wanting a spare wheel then buy one or insist one is supplied as part of the bargaining when buying a new car. It's surprising how much fuel can be saved, just by reducing weight and it also helps manufacturers meet those emission targets.

    • @lehelzelenka207
      @lehelzelenka207 Před 4 lety +6

      You don't want to reduce weight by removing a spare wheel. That is the worst advice I ever heard. Put only half a tank of fuel and you saved yourself more weight than a spare wheel.

    And then u fook up ur tpms sensor inside the wheel by using this gel so will cost u €150 for a new sensor and probably a new tyre aswel of they won't repair it . And if the tyre is old and u cant get the same one as the ones on the car u will need 2 tyres the same on each side so a puncture could now end up costing u allot of money .

  • @harrickvharrick3957
    @harrickvharrick3957 Před 5 lety

    How can this work, you haven't even spread the gel around inside the tyre by rotating that wheel a few times, the chance is 90% that the puncture is not there where the gel is sitting now inside the tyre, namely only at the very bottom.
