      @tttITA10 Před rokem +5

      @@nagredmoonstriker252You are wrong. The reason why the monsters are discarded at page 12 of the rules is that, in the given examples, the players are moving out of the monsters' adjascent squares, taking away the light and making the tiles disappear, which is also why other tiles disapper with the monster at those examples. If still at light, after attacking -- as clearly stated by the rules at page 13, figure 2 -- "the Monster turns into a PIT" (with this exact wording, including the "pit" capitalization). Please correct your comment.

      Pg. 13, fig. 2 literally says “after attacking, the monster is removed and GREEN moves onto an existing or newly drawn tile”. Nothing about turning into a pit.

    I see someone has already pointed out the correction at 9:05; when staying, if you discard a monster, it is to replace an illuminated tile for that prisoner. Additionally at 14:55, you move off of a crumbling tile that should become a pit, then move back to it at 16:24
    Thank you for the play through. I didn’t know if the monsters were removed once triggered, or only when they hit a prisoner. It made it quite difficult.

    Thanks for the play through. Just a note, though I don’t think it would have saved you, but players CAN pass keys as a free action to any adjacent connected prisoner. So in the end purple could have passed a key to red, and then immediately picked up the key from the tile they were on. However red still would have been isolated when the key tile turned into a pit there at the end. There were so other tile / illumination shenanigans but so far I have yet to play a clean game without messing up a tile or two of illumination at some point. It does help to have multiple knowledgeable players all keeping track of correct illumination states.

    Tile E4 should have been removed at 7:50. At 9 minutes when Yellow stays, the tile he draws to discard is a monster. That monster should have been laid to replace one of the tiles adjacent to Yellow. At 9:47 when Yellow goes lights out, the areas Yellow was illuminating should have been discards before Blue relit Yellow and Yellow would draw tiles for their new light of sight. 15:37 should have removed tile B2 after Blue moved. 19:42 You CAN give a key to another player if they're right next to you to hand it off on either of the touching players' turns. 20:15 Tile A2 should have been removed when Blue moved. 22:32 Tile B2 should have been removed. 23:28 Tile A5 Should have been removed when Purple moved.

    Do you think the game woild benefit if the set up deck had a bit more structure akin to the likes of Pandemic where you shuffle the path and monster tiles together and divide into piles equalling the number of keys, each pile then have a key shuffled in so that players can expect a ket to come at certain portions of the game?

      @Morcarag Před 2 lety +1

      Yeah, despite it being THE key mechanic of the game, and the rules around it being pretty straight forward, every game I’ve played of The Night Cage has had some point of “oh why is that tile still around, it shouldn’t be.” Or more commonly, “oh there should have been a tile here for the last 3 turns but one was never put down.” I’m hoping as I play more the rate of those instances will become fewer and fewer. It pays to try to be extra diligent about checking and double checking the tile states at the end of each turn.
