Nobody expected this would be the last episode. The show wasn't cancelled until the off season. Big mistake they didn't continue this now legendary show.
It might have been very difficult to pull off and keep the entire original cast for much longer. Even though Gunsmoke is what killed it, Tina Louise was not thrilled and was getting a bit antsy. Maybe the show is legendary because they quit while they were ahead. This could’ve avoided the risk of a stinker season which might’ve destroyed its legacy. Who knows.....
@@finster1968 - True, but FWIW, a planned fourth season could've turned out to be the best season of all with the right kind of scripts (and perhaps a raise for Tina Louise to keep her on board as Ginger). Alas, we'll never know...

I agree. Backus, the voice of Mr. Magoo in the 1950s UPA animated shorts, often ad-libbed as Thurston Howell III during filming. You can tell when he "threw in" a line once in a while that was totally spontaneous and unscripted. It made the character seem very natural, and funnier.
I saw an interview with Bob Denver where he said someone had suggested a storyline where the castaways had found a sunken ship with all of that stuff on it but I guess the writers never bothered to pursue it
Not sure why the Howells were on an "everyman" boat trip when they had yachts and such. Did they lose a bet with friends, lol. And in the opening theme sequence you can see a sign by the Skipper that reads "Free Lunch" with the tour. Even Ginger would probably not be there, being a nightclub chanteuse and movie star.
@@williamdavidfrancavilla7388 In fallout 4, my character is currently carrying over 7000 Lbs. His weight limit is 460. Hey Dylan Mulvaney, looks like the male cast of Gilligan's Island were decades ahead of you. I like how the Professor checks out Gilligan's rear at 3:14
Too funny. I think the Professor is second to Gilligan in the white goddess contest. Skipper and Howell you need to go back to your hut and hang it up.
Why don't you call her Gillianna:Oh what am I saying . I wanted to where something that fit and looked chic at the same time. What a trooper that Mr Howell, loved him
I wonder if the men had fun doing this scene. Boy they failed miserably as women. But Gilligan pulled it off pretty good. Sad this was the last time they were to work on the series. I never really cared for any of the movies done after Gilligan's Island. I just hate it when the producers of something really good can't leave well enough alone.
Rachel Manning it was mostly the head of the network's fault. Gun smoke had terrible ratings but it was his wife's favorite show so he made the network executives put it back on and just get rid of any other show
Yes, plus the "entertainment" the castaways provided King Kaliwani to distract him from wooing Gilliana on their date. Fun stuff, including Howell as a magician, and also the girls singing Won't You Come Home, Bill Bailey..
So this is the bit that Freakazoid was referring too. The writers confused this episode with the Loco Brothers F Troop episode. No wonder this bit exchange never happened in F Troop.
1:51 Natalie Schafer flubbed her line when saying "negligee," and briefly glanced away like she was about to stop the scene, but they decided to keep the scene anyway.
It's just a damn shame...that this was the last episode of the show.It maybe when Ginger, actress believed the show was ruining her career as an actress. So she left the show, plus there were other show's were taken air ratings. From the show. Guess they were force to cancelled the show. then later made the movies of Gilligan's Island. But the original ginger refused to come back, so they switch to alternate ginger character.
They should have made a final episode where they were rescued in the series, not that movie made for TV crap. It was too much time between. Just think, Skipper's old friend - played by John Wayne - had tirelessly searched all the islands before coming to that one! Upon discovering their being there, a celebration Lua is thrown where they reflect on their years on the island! Can you imagine The Duke having Ginger and Mary Ann showering him with kisses and he looks to Skipper jokingly saying, "Well Jonus, are you really sure you want to leave this island? How about you go to my ship and I stay, Pilgrim!" Why couldn't they do that! Just one last rescue episode!

My God, skipper as a woman, is a thing of nightmares. Gilligan actually looked kind of good.

Howell was always the funniest and had the best lines and delivery.
Jim Backus, who played Mr. Howell, was the first castaway to pass away.

One of my acting coach's greatest advice for the guys in my class:
"If you're interested in getting into comedy, be prepared to drag at least once."
Makeup crews back then must of had a riot making the actors into girls!
Best episode for this time.
Gilligan's Island had the best cast in TV history.
I was disappointed this clip didn’t include the native guy chasing “Gilliana” around the room. Hilarious.
