- This is Episode 2 in HD of my Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky - Behind the Dungeons series, created in SkyTemple. This is a remake of the final post-game boss battle against Darkrai in the Dark Crater, with Grovyle appearing to help out, and Dialga taking vengeance for Temporal Tower.
Note: I have changed the dialogue from before, and I compressed the original two videos into one. Also, the reason I replaced the original boss battle music with Dialga's Fight to the Finish is because I think it's the greatest music in the game, and it is meant to foreshadow Dialga's appearance afterwards.

Now THAT is an ending that truely ties everything together.
This ending honestly makes way more sense. I never understood why Dialga never got involved again the same way Palkia did after all those events. Dialga and Palkia attacking darkrai together makes so much more sense than just Palkia by themselves. Grovyle and the others coming back also makes way more sense to the story knowing the events that unfolded. Dusknoir is also important with his character development and his relationship in making his amends. Grovyle also is still a partner to the main character regardless and him with celebi being out of the picture makes no sense at all. This is also interesting as we could see how grovyle and everyone interacts with each other after everything. Possibly see Dusknoir get an earful from chatot and joining the guild. Maybe even acting like a leading figure to team skull. Him even potentially seeking out Dialga again in this timeline and being a type of protectorate of temporal tower. Then also potentially Grovyle and Celebi’s reaction to Manaphy. The original is great, but I think has a lot of flaws that are covered by this.
Probably because you could add Dialga to your team as soon as you started Postgame lol
They could have just had Dialga be unavailable before finishing Dark Crater instead.
Dialga doesn’t have control over space so he couldn’t get over there fast enough
I find it a little strange that *Giratina* never got involved (considering what Darkrai's doing is somewhat similar to Cyrus' plans), but that could be chalked up to the original plot being released before Platinum and thus trying to hide spoilers.
@@gengarzilla1685 Yep this would make perfect sense; Dialga would probably need to spend quite some time to repair the Tower. Additionally, I don't think Dialga would leave Temporal Tower...UNLESS the threat of Darkrai was dealt with (it's very much possible that the reason Dialga hid Temporal Tower and Hidden Land in the first place was Darkrai specifially, but Darkrai found the Tower anyway and sabotaged it).
I wish that the player actually showed more love and care for grovyle in the original story as much as this.
ikr! it made me so sad when grovyle shields the player from dusknoir and u see how much grovyle cares about the player and player barely shows any love or care towards grovyle. and then when grovyle says the player and partner are the greatest of combinations that made me cry. i was like “no! grovyle dont go! youre a way better partner than my stupid and niave explorer team partner that i hate!”
Well, granted, they are amnesic, so they wouldn't have known about their relationship prior to their first time-travel back.

You have to bear in mind, Grovyle and you are supposed to be in a hurry. Nobody knows exactly when Temporal Tower would collapse so there ain't much time to waste on catching up.
If PMD2 ever gets remade, they need to hire you to remake the story
Love how this ties in to Super, with Grovyle, Celebi and Dusknoir coming to the present (explaining why they appear in that game), and having Darkrai said to have lost his memory (and potentially encountering him again in the future).
Here's how else it ties in for me: My player and partner are the same species, nickname, and team name in both games.

me too. when i played the special episode where u are grovyle, when everyone started to disappear i started tearing up cause i thought they were actually gonna never come back. i thought dialga only brought the player back so it was at least nice to see that all the pokemon of the future lived too. and i guess it was arceaus or something that brought everyone back. so it was nice to get some closure with those 3. its just sad they never went back to the past
Amazing. This is what I wanted for the final story of the Explorers arc. Grovyle reuniting with the Player and their Partner to take down the mastermind behind everything.
ikr! its just so empty having there be no grovyle with u for that part and i’d want grovyle to know that darkrai is behind everything. and having cressilia there was annoying. dark crater was so hard to get through because cressilia is so weak and kept getting knocked out.
A Remake will fix it if the writers decide to cut the wrongs :)
I understand why we didn't get this in Time and Darkness because we never see what happens to these three, but come on, this would have been a fantastic surprise twist for Sky... if a bit of a spoiler for the last Special Episode's ending too.
Easy solution, make it only happen if you finish all extra episodes. Also, to prevent a potential plot hole, make Dialga (and all other legendary Pokémon, for consistency's sake) unable to be recruited until after Darkrai is defeated.
You could easily make it so this additional storyline only triggers in the main game after you've completed special episode 5
This should have been the ending to Explorers of Time, Darkness and Sky especially Sky this should have been the real ending after beating Darkrai

As someone who has played the game of pokemon dungeon explorers of time so much that my original cartridge burned out over using it on my ds And my sky version that I keep safe in my treasure safe, I agree.
This would have shown and answered more then what it originally ended and brought up much more attempts to continue the story.
I wish pokemom company would give this spinoff series more attention then the anime and remakes of every single game they make.
I love the games , but remaster all of them with no additions makes it boring. Especially after they messed up bd and sp. So many bugs and errors in that game I was disgusted as a pokemon fan.
@@ytw101 Yes exactly! I thought the same thing too when I played BD! And really after that special episode in Sky that ending would've been perfect than the Canon! And for Grovyle and the Player to have that emotional reunion they deserve is what I always wished most!
Especially after the final special episode. It would make so much more sense.

I played this game religiously as kid years ago, and I believe that this would have been one hell of a beautiful way to truly end the game.
I always felt heartbroken about never encountering Grovyle again. I used Grovyle instead of Sceptile in other games because I liked the character so much in this game, and made fanfictions about him. So to see an alternative ending where he returns makes me happy.
Damn this is bringing out so many feels again. Minute I saw Grovyle, Dusknoir, & Celebi tears were shed. I am so happy that this was made.

i always was rather suprised that in the real game they never make it so that grovyle came back to talk to the player and tell them that the future was changed and all the pokemon of the future are alive. i figured that eventually you’d be able to make grovyle and celebi ur teammates forever. and i didn’t like how it was just palkia that took down darkrai. it really shouldve been both palkia and dialga.
Arceus splitting the future off so Grovyle didn't disappear was added in sky, it wasn't in the original explorers, and I don't think they were up for making such big changes.
Ik it would've made the game easier this way but it would be super hype for this to be real.
I think in the next episode, all 3 (Grovyle, Celebi and Dusknoir) join the team to help with rescue work and adventures.
Agree and Grovyle probably would have specialty in the special missions with his extreme vast knowledge.

Ok I had found this little series by chance on CZcams but oh Arceus am I ever so glad I have found this precious gem that gives the game I hold so dear the ending it so totally deserves! And this right here where Grovyle, Dusknoir, and Celebi come back that right there is what should have happened in at least the Sky game after that Special Episode. Thank you ever so much for doing giving us this precious and amazing scene right here you are truly a marvel and gift

Dialga’s Fight to the Finish fits super well here since it’s basically THE Final Battle that determines the fate of the Pokémon World
This actually makes me wonder if any of these characters might actually encounter Darkrai again. The same Darkrai, but also different at the same time. I imagine they’d be shocked, but I’d also love to a story seeing Darkrai turn a new leaf, and our heroes help guide him towards a better, happier path where he doesn’t have to turn evil again.
I always wondered what made Darkrai as evil as he was. But either way, he doesn’t have to be that way anymore.
Also, I’m super happy that Aura and Dusknoir have reconciled. Aura honestly had every reason to be angry at Dusknoir for such a betrayal, all Dusknoir has done. But deep down, he wished things were different, and he missed the Dusknoir he looked up to. Now Dusknoir has genuinely changed, and became genuinely closer to the Dusknoir he presented to be, and can now be that person for real.
When Cresselia said they might encounter him I feel like that would explain the reason why you can find a wild Darkrai roaming around and recruit him in the game, that's probably the same Darkrai who got hit and lost his memories because he did say he did not know where the dimensional hole would take him rather it be past or future so maybe that's the reason behind why there is a roaming Darkrai at least it makes sense to me.
@@bbchannel5299 yeah im guessing its the same darkrai. after all, darkrai is a legendary pokemon and there is usually only one or a few in the pokemon world. i actually did find darkrai once when i played the game. i was never able to get to him though. he just kinda left the floor somehow.
idk why darkrai was so evil exactly but he is the legendary nightmare pokemon. so i guess he want to engulf the world in darkness because then the whole world will be like a living nightmare. u would think they would choose giritina instead of darkrai though since giratina is the legendary pokemon of darkness.

Man...when i saw darkrai...being i think killed, i started to tear up actually. Seriously darkrai just looked like...he wanted some attention...he needed some attention...and being all heard.
Well, Darkrai has a second chance now. Because Darkrai was implicated to survive, and had lost his memory as well. Darkrai now has the opportunity to start a new life, find a better path, find people/Pokémon in his life to help guide him towards the right path.
The evil Darkrai who plotted hell has died, and a new Darkrai had been born.

really? when i thought palkia killed darkrai i was sad that the player and grovyle didnt get to kill him and that palkia did instead. cause i mean, the player finally gets to defeat the mastermind behind it all but the player still doesn’t get to be the one to fully destroy him and palkia who barely had any trouble with darkrai got the revenge instead.
Uhhh... You say "barely had any trouble" as though Darkrai's antics weren't wreaking havoc with the fabric of space, to the point where Palkia himself was stuck in a nightmare.
@@jakandratchet9930 Yep. And funnily enough, that guide will end up being your team. If you have the Mystery Part or Secret Slab on hand after that little finale, you can find him roaming around a number of locations where you can straight-up recruit him.
Specifically, he turns up in the Mystifying Forest, Lower Crevice Cave, the Miracle Sea, Mt. Travail and (fitting enough) the Spacial Rift. Getting to him can be a little tricky, though, since he floats and can go through walls.
This… This should have been the real ending to PMD. This should’ve happened. Awesome work. Keep it up!

for an idea of what to make, i recommend making it so dusknoir isnt welcomed by many at treasure town so he decides to go to temporal tower and work for dialga and help him rebuild temporal tower.
Man if only this was the real final fight😢😢😢 I would have cheered so loudly if grovyle had come back. Him leaving always made me tear up when first playing the game😢😢😢 now I NEED a remake of explorers off sky were this is made canon!

Honestly, although you can't tell a Darkrai themed story without Cresselia (since they're counterparts), I would've preferred having Grovyle for this fight, instead. At least he wouldn't drain all my friggin reviver seeds!
Nothing wrong with having both, anyway, and I do actually find Cresselia manageable with the right planning. It got way easier once I thought to get her away from that stupid Mismagius minion after stunning Darkrai.
Debatable since he's weak to most of the Pokemon in the Dark Crater... He'd be stuck having to spam Dig most of the way.
And honestly, I fail to see how keeping Cresselia alive is an issue. If anything, the one who ends up needing Reviver Seeds usually ends up being ME due to Earth Power spam-happy foes (which Cresselia is pretty much immune to). The only MASSIVE threat to her in that place is Mismagius, and that thing's a menace to pretty much everyone because of how dangerous its potential moves are (if that thing decides to throw Perish Song your way, you might as well shut off and restart from your save then and there).

Celebi says much earlier that she needs a Passage of Time for these large trips. Her own time travelling ability is more limited and only good for short trips.
It would great to see grovyle again as well probably get some closure with Dusknoir maybe he apologize to the hero and partner. Also dialga and palliative coming in to stop Darkrai would’ve been better too

I feel like this should of been the ending to explorers if you have completed all 5 special episodes before that point. But yeah this was one of the best things I have seen I pmd. When Dialga and Palkia appeared I had the biggest smirk

Why did Sparky's Moveset still have Thundershock? At Least make it Discharge to strike all the Enemies in the Room! At Least Aura had a Solid moveset consisting of Feint hitting past Protect, a same type attack in Force Palm, a way to beat Ghost Types, which are immune to both Feint and Force Palm, and Psychic, His biggest Weakness, via Bite, and Foresight, which could also get rid of Ghosts Immunity, but more importantly, removes Double Teams effect from Darkrai!

Hes in dungeons and can be recruited, though you'll need secret slab and mystery part for him to appear
The hole just spits him out somewhere else. I assume it sent him to the past and he's technically been wandering for years when you find him again.

@@gengarzilla1685That's possible in the original games, but in this series, Darkrai didn't even leave the time period. He just landed somewhere near Treasure Town with no memories.

Shiny Celebi needs the Passage of Time, and Dialga uses a lot of his power to use time travel.

@@JCDragon2819 so does the passage of time not exist in the past? cause the 2 passage of times are in frozen island and dusk forest. and frozen island is called blizzard island in the past and foggy forest is duskforest.
Foggy Forest isn't Dusk Forest, they just happened to look _extremely_ similar. Comparing topscreen maps from your future visit and the last Special Episode shows that you were in the future Hidden Land.

Wait a minute, you never explained how Grovyle, Celebi and Dusknoir went back in time in the first place.
But come to think of it, wasn't there a gate of time at the end of the final epilogue story.
That's explained in Chapter 3.

i always wondered why darkrai would lose his memory from being attacked while time traveling but wouldn’t turn into another pokemon or into a human.
He didn't have a fierce will to protect a friend like the player does with Grovyle.

This is a brilliant ending. I was a bit confused that grovyle couldn't come back to this time period. We learn in special episode 5 that the future is saved, but couldn't grovyle easily take the passage of time back to the past to defeat darkrai as well? I guess it's just a little plot hole in a great story but it did always bug me that grovyle said he could never return
That was pulled from Time and Darkness, where he really does disappear and can't come back. Even in Sky he says that while fully expecting to fade from existence later. Why he doesn't actually come back in Sky though? Your guess is as good as mine.
@@gengarzilla1685 just an oversight probably but it does bother me. Grovyle said it himself that he can never come back to the past even though he could just meet celebi again in the future and use the passage of time. Dialga was already defeated by that point so it wouldn't of even been a problem.
@@bend7726 My guess is that he was busy rebuilding the world and shit. That and in my theory, the dark future from the original timeline is really gone for good, the only fragment of said future is the protag who was personally brought back by Dialgia. The ending of special episode 5 takes place in an alternative timeline created by a being higher than Dialgia (Arceus?). The characters get to retain their memories from the OG timeline but some events in the past have to be altered in some ways to prevent some kind of time paradoxes. That means even if he were to go back to the past again, it is not possible to run into him in the original game. Shame because I really wanted to see Grovyle again when my partner mentioned him on Sharpedo Bluff. God dammit why can I recruit the gods of time and space themselves but not my old friend from the future?
Funny thing those are the two Pokemon I choose except for they are reverse I was Riolu and my partner is Pikachu

this episode was awsome the only thing i would find better was this: have it be like 30 pokemon u have to fight at once and make sparky, aura, and cressilia get nervous cause there are way to many pokemon and darkrai saying something like even though u r strong there are too many for u to be able to win or something. and then have grovyle, celebi, and dusknoir show up. cause in ur version it changed from 7 vs 3 which doesn’t seem that hard since thats on 4 more. and then the other 3 appear making it 7 vs 6 which makes the battle way easier. so have it be more hard as in make it seem like its impossible to win because the difference in numbers is much bigger
Celebi having Heal Bell sorta breaks this battle too, as she can remove any sleep effects Darkrai successfully puts on you.

how in the world can darkrai made dimensional holes? and why doesn’t he even know where it’ll take him? he’s the legendary nightmare pokemon. why would he be able to time travel? the writers don’t seem to even know the limits to darkrai’s abilities. (i’m not saying the ppl that made this version did a bad job, i’m talking about the ppl that made the original version of the game)
I made this version, but I don't know what it's about, either. Maybe it has something to do with the Time Gears?
Moments like this make me wish Giratina were aiding Darkrai behind the scenes because... surely ripping open these rifts in time and space should be within Giratina's power? If I were good enough at SkyTemple scripting then I'd make a post-postgame arc where you learn of Darkrai's ally and track them down.

what, never played all of pokemon explorers of sky before? this is a different version of the game someone made up
I battled Darkrai for the first time in my life last week and he was easy. Overhyped. I thought it was going to be hard. Had to stock up 16 reviver seeds and didn't even use one. My pokemon were Charamander, Riolu, and cresselia. Cresselia didn't faint. Even tho. failed to use a stun seed twice on Darkrai as well. Had to use the x-eye seed afterwards they failed. It pretty easy. My pokemon were also leveled at 53.
really? now thats hard making sure cressilia doesn’t faint. she is way too weak and always uses at least 6 of my reviver seeds. but fighting darkrai was super easy.
@@saklee1777 yeah I mean the only reason the fight was hard was because Darkrai gangs up on you with other pokemon and Cresselia spams all our reviver seeds!
The really important thing is to stun Darkrai immediately and then switch spots with Cresselia so she isn't fighting the Aggron and Mismagius. Of course she's gonna use lots of Reviver Seeds when you let her take both the Steel type that resists all her moves and the Ghost type that beats Psychic. That's just Type Matchups 101 there.
Once I figured that out, I can consistently get through this battle with very minimal problems. People just complain about it without actually bothering to solve the root problems of it all, instead just bumrushing it with 50 bajillion Reviver Seeds.

my only issue with this is sparky's moveset is pretty much garbage except for thunderbolt, when it could have discharge agility and some some other move im not sure which one but anything is better then grass knot

@@JCDragon2819 yes but if you take it out then its pretty much over once you have them set up 3 agility's for quadruple speed then you just walk over and kill it and then the discharges will do the rest of the work
@@lucygirl1111 Thank you for that advice. As for Grass Knot, the reason Sparky knows it is because I use the same two Pokémon with the same nicknames and the same team name in Super Mystery Dungeon. Since the starter Pikachu in Super Mystery Dungeon has Grass Knot, it's meant to imply that the Sparky and Aura here are the same as when I play PSMD.

I was kinda disappointed that Giratina didn't play a role in the plot at all in the games, considering how the other two of the creation trio are heavily tied in. Instead he's just the boss of some random, unassuming dungeon. Perhaps it could have been revealed that after Darkrai was attacked in the dimensional portal, it shattering resulted in him being transported to the Distortion World or something, where Giratina kept him in check, sorta how Giratina took care of Cyrus in Platinum.
